I love this place. Usually I am a beef man. But when I am in the mood for some Mexican shrimp, the only game in town is Las Palapas. I usually sit down and order a lovely Michelada to start while I browse the divine menu of seafood creations that are always amazing.

This place is sooooo bad!!! Like really don’t go here! I bought a voucher and gave it to the waitress when we ordered she took our order and the coupon… And by the way came to ask a few times in between what we ordered lol. and then finally came with food. when it was time to pay I told her I gave u a coupon and she looks at me with a smart blank smirk and says what coupon. Then I told her then one I gave u… She’s like oh yeah we don’t that that here. I’m like so why didn’t u tell me… Then she says«when u gave it to me I asked the lady cooking in the back and she said we don’t take it»… Hmmmm what!!! Lol. I have no clue what to even say at this point I thought she was kidding but she wasn’t lol. She was the WORSTWAITRESS I have ever encountered. She was too busy smiling and flirting with the guys sitting in the next table to even Care lol. I ended up leaving what I owed n left. It was stupid. I would have seriously went and paid more somewhere else but I wanted to try new places! I give this place a –1000000. Don’t go here!!! And they should get a waitress with a brain. This one obviously had her brain removed. Save ur money any other Mexican place is better than this place.

I was hesitant about coming here but after eating the delicious food today I’m sure I will be back. This place is not huge. My family and I got seated and a few mins later they gave us a huge portion of chips and salsa. For drinks my husband ordered a Chavela while I ordered a Michelada I enjoyed my drink so much that I ended up getting another round of drinks. For appetizers we tried the Empanada Camarones, I’ve never had this before but it’s was surprisingly good the green sauce for the Empanada gave it an extra lemony kick. For our main dish was the Botana Kora which is $ 42 and if can feed 2 – 3 ppl. This dish was so delicious and that we devoured the whole dish. I notice while we were eating that they set up a stand outside where they sell tacos and hot dogs wrapped with bacon!

Oh man this place so good. Since I am taxi driver you know I love Mexican food. And this place have best shrimp in world. I usually come in after dropping off taxi customer in the area. The salsa serve with chips so delicious and spicy. After that you can order any of the shrimp dish. They are all so good. I recommend highly. Also they make good michelada which is beer with the tomato juice seasoning.

This is a dive Taqueria located on White Road and Mount Pleasant Rd. in East San Jose. I’ve eaten here many times… And my favorite food that they have is the Carne Asada taco… it’s a little more expensive than most places… But it’s a good taco… They specialize in fish tacos… But that’s not my thing… Never have liked fish tacos… I have no clue why… Sometimes they have musicians playing inside… I think they practice there for their Mariachi gigs… The place is not that big… So when they’re playing inside pretty much you need ear plugs… And you have to kind of squeeze around to use the restroom if that’s what you need to do… If you need taco food… Try this place out… Write your own review… And tell them that you found out about their little taco place from Unilocal… And tell them Karen sent you…

I love experience new things and this place is definitely an authentic Mexican spot. There were a good amount of Mexicans, when I walked in and that is always a sure sign for me of a good ethnic restaurant. If you walk into a Chinese restaurant and there are no Chinese people there, get out! I ordered 4 tacos: 2 Al Pastor and 2 Carne Asada for 1 dollar each! I was excited to try these 1 dollar tacos, but they fell short. The al pastor was dry and the meat was very sparse. I do not know how the rest of the food is, but I don’t recommend tacos here. I love Mexican food too. Go to La Costa for your taco fix!

It is not really fair for me to review this place because they specialize in Mexican seafood and I dont eat seafood. It used to be a great little hidden gem with excellent food and soups. They recently changed ownership and changed the overall theme of the restaurant to seafood. But I can speak on what I did have from this place. I had the carne asada plate. It came with spanish rice refried beans grilled onions, grilled jalepenos and a small salad. I included a picture along with my review. The spanish rice was very bland and not like any I have had anywhere else. Beans were a little runny for my liking but flavor was not bad at all. Grilled onions and jalepeno very good… but not very hard to mess that up. The Carne Asada was pan fried not grilled and tasted like it was marinated in lemon juice, had more of an asian flavor to it rather than mexican. The chips and salsa that was provided was just ok. Chips seemed like they were the normal garden variety Costco bag chips. The salsa was good, definitely made fresh with fresh ingredients and very good flavor. The salsa actually helped give flavor to the tasteless rice. All in all I would not recomend this place unless your were in to seafood, then you might enjoy the food a little more than I did. Final recomendation: Try at your own risk.
