Homeowners beware. I could write pages or post the pages of corrections associated with the mistake of hiring Mark. I’ll however give you the most simple of issues we’ve had to deal with. His guy Steve, under his direct supervision, poorly installed the exterior doors. A few weeks later they began sticking and not closing properly. As a way of fixing them he told Steve to shave the front of the doors, which we later found out was the wrong way of doing it… it messes up installing the locks. The correct way is to remove the doors and shave it from the hinge side. When he was installing the deck, which is attached to the house, he didn’t properly flash and we now have to deal with leaks. When the deck was being installed I questioned him on his methods and he claimed he has been doing this for 40 years and he knows what he’s doing. Now that we’ve paid him he’s refusing to come back and fix it despite code requirements and his self proclamation of being an honest person. Why leave out something we were going to purchase and it would’ve taken minutes to install, whereby fixing it is way more laborious? The final one I’m going to mention is he didn’t properly do the foundation supports, which the engineer said a magnitude 6 or greater earthquake would’ve caused the house to jump off the foundation. Luckily the inspectors caught this shortly after the 6.4 Napa quake. He’s a smart person and a master at spinning things, the part that’s difficult to figure out is whether he’s incompatent or intentionally malicious. I initially felt sorry for him and didn’t question him much as he’s in a wheelchair due to a skiing accident, but I wasn’t as understanding after he put my family at risk by not reinforcing the foundation as in the engineer’s plans. I’ll leave it at that as including everything would be too long.

Mark and Keith, his foreman were absolutely the best contractors I could have hired! They were professional, on time and most importantly, they took PRIDE in the work they did and they wanted to do things right, not fast. Although they were FAST as well! They estimated 8 weeks for rough framing and they got done in 4! They aren’t cheap, but in this case, you get what you pay for. They recommended virtually every other subcontractor! Keith is the man! Way to go Mark and Keith! I rate them 12 on a scale of 1 to 10!
