Nestled at the end of a cul-de-sac in a suspect Eastside ‘hood, Parque de la Amistad(PdlA) sits alone and forgotten. Instead of being filled with kids and laughter, it’s ensconced in trash and graffiti. This 1-acre park is hardly worth noting, or reviewing, but for this damn OCD of mine. So, as has become customary, here are the details: –Street parking only, but there is one handicapped spot available at the park itself. ADA requirements, and what not… –One of the nicer Tot Lot and Playground(swings for days!) combinations I’ve seen for a CSJ park. There’s also an ample amount of shade coverage on the play equipment, which is always good for those hot days. –Picnic tables with BBQ pits –NO restrooms –Awful«grass» field – I guess brown really is the new green. What would be a solid 2.5-star park in any other neighborhood is a huge, hot mess here. PdlA appears to be forgotten by the residents, and the City, but not by me. It’s not a bad park really – it just doesn’t know any better. P. S. For the record, I did my part as a good citizen, and reported the graffiti to the City using their terrific«San Jose Clean» app(available on Android [ and iPhone [ ). The graffiti did get cleaned up, but I’m sure it’ll be back. I urge all CSJ residents to download the app and start reporting graffiti because if you don’t do your part, then I don’t want to hear it.
