Ok, So why not 5 stars? A few reasons, but first, lets start with the good. I ordered the Korokke(Croquettes) and the By The Bay roll, so not a big order, and therefore, this review is based on little, but as I return, and I most certainly will, I will update. The By The Bay roll was excellent, a very generous portion of salmon and good balance between the amount of rice to filling. I am a big big fan of Tobiko as well, so the heaping piles on top of the roll was a special and unexpected surprise, and for those who dont like Tobiko, simply take it off or ask them to keep it off. The scallop was precisely portioned and truly added to the experience of the roll rather than stealing the show. I would say the chef’s grasp of proper proportioning, at least on this roll, is to be admired. I also very much appreciated the gentleness of the Miso, at the end of the meal, a calming bowl of Miso soup is exactly what the doctor suggests, and they deliver on the prescription. The tofu they use is on the firmer side, which is a person preference of mine, but its not a fully firmed tofu, so dont misunderstand me, its just not the terribly soft tofu that just breaks up as soon as it touches your tongue, I like to feel the tofu, but again, this is a personal preference. The other noteworthy points were the feeling of the restaurant, which despite the outside, has a very comfortable spread out feeling, a nice bar where you can interact with the friendly chef, and the very friendly gals that helped me on the phone and in the restaurant. Now for the«room for improvement» areas. If you notice, I didn’t mention the Korokke(Croquettes) in the good, and its for a reason… They weren’t that good. They were not bad, but they certainly weren’t what I expected from the menu description nor from what I have come to expect from my experience at other restaurants. They were very thin, and though they had a great panko coating and were fried to perfection, the filling was nothing but bland flavorless, creamy potato. The creaminess was excellent, but guys, Korokke traditionally came from the French Croquettes and the Dutch Kroket which gained popularity as a western snack in Japan over 100 years ago. After gaining popularity in Japan, the Japanese made it their own by getting very creative with the fillings, ranging from meat and potato filling, to yam filling… one thing they never were however, is bland. Please, get some flavor into these things guys, or at least offer a flavored version so those of us who seek flavor in our potato can be satisfied, some simple veggies and curry powder is very traditional and makes the potato much better. Please don’t take my review as insulting, I certainly mean no offense and want to give as honest of a review as possible. Overall it truly was a great meal and despite me writing a lot about them, the Korokke were not that big of a deal, and I am sure they will be very popular with certain customers. Thanks for the great Sushi, I am glad to have another quality place in downtown, we needed it!

I love the new location so much more! The ambiance at the old location was nice and«new» however this location has a more warm and comfortable feel. The feel is still as great as I remember it being. Very consistent, and the owner is super friendly. The waitress was able to answer any of my questions I had on the food. For sushi in downtown, this place is my favorite by far.
