If I could give this place no stars I would. My husband and I happened to be at the Fairgrounds on Sunday and decided to get lunch after an event. We had tried Rubios in Cupertino and loved it, so when we say a Rubio’s on Curtner, we didn’t hesitate to stop by, boy were we wrong. Placed a simple order for the special Surf and Turf and the Chicken Tortilla Soup. Kid who took our order didn’t say much, we paid and then sat down. As soon as we sat down, I realized that he didn’t give us the soda cup for our soda that was included in the surf & turf meal. I went to the register and told the kid he forgot to give us the soda cup, which he then proceeds to give me a small water cup. No way, I was just here paying! I told him soda was included and that I paid, so then he reaches back and then gives me a regular soda cup. I sat back down and got into a lengthy conversation with my husband. Next thing we know it’s 20 minutes later! I walk up to the counter and ask about our food. No one acknowledged me and the workers in the back kept talking among themselves. Finally someone says it’s coming. I sit back down and another 10 minutes go by and now I’m pissed. I asked what’s up, other people are coming in, placing their order and getting their food. I can’t believe 30 minutes has gone by without our food. Then another woman comes up also saying she hasn’t gotten her food, but she’d be waiting for only 15 minutes. The workers looked confused and still just kept saying sorry and it’s coming. After 5 more minutes I got mad, told them I wanted a refund from the manager. They gave me a refund and I promptly left with no food(although I had the soda). No explanation and terrible service. Will never EVER come back to this Rubio’s again. I don’t mind waiting for my food, but 35 minutes… that’s ridiculous!

I work within the same plaza, so I’m just about always here for food when I’m on breaks, and I love it! Out of all the times I’ve been here, I’ve only had one bad experience, so I’m not going to entirely debunk ‘em on star just because of that, but I had called in at the start of my shift to pre-order for pick up and the order never went through. So I had to wait another 10 – 15 minutes for them to make it for me, but whatever. I still come back!

So my boyfriend and his best friend loooooves Rubios. they usually go to Rubios on Tuesdays because of their $ 1.50 fish taco special. I’m from Mountain View and i rarely saw any Rubios around that area so when i moved to san jose, My boyfriend was all about this place. So this Tuesday we decided to go together for the first time! The place was pretty nice although they can improve on getting the habit of frequently checking the lobby and make sure the tables are all wiped down and sanitary looking for the next customer. So to start off, he told me that this location improved a lot on their appearance and changed a couple things like, having a number for your table so that one of the workers can bring the food to you. Im guessing they used to call the orders out loud. Tome, it kind of has that Panera feel or this one place in Palo Alto called Lyfe Kitchen it has that warm tone orange like tropical feel but also, cozy and modern. Our fish tacos took about 20 minutes which was pretty long but when i actually took a bite of those fist tacos, it certainly moved me instantly that i could forget about the wait and would mark that i’d be just fine waiting for 20 minutes when the food taste like that. It was amazing! I only said, I’d have 1 taco. ONE. and i ended up eating 3. Definitely coming back next Tuesday!

so someone was really craving fish tacos from Rubio’s today so we went to pick some up. we would’ve stayed there to eat, he’s still kinda sick from the weekend so we got some to go. it was a coincidence that it’s Tuesday today which means it’s Taco Tuesday! $ 1.50 per Original Fish Taco!) to go price the same.) so TASTY. so CRUNCHY. so BIG n so CHEAP. I’m all for good n cheap food when I’m hungry. :)(surprisingly I’m not always there on Tuesdays.) last time I was there it just passed 2:30pm(time the deal starts.) it wasn’t as crowded n I got my tacos in under 10 min. today, we got there around 3:00pm so there was already a bunch of ppl around sitting n standing waiting for their cheap delicious tacos. omg. I ended up waiting for about 25 min today. i expected waiting for a while today, but damn. so the review is more for the amazing tacos they have, not for the slow service we received today. oh they have new lobster langostino enchiladas n tacos now. can’t wait to try those next time!

The ladies working in the kitchen do not look like they want to be at work. Completely messed up my meal. I ordered a California bowl salad with no rice, no guacamole sub with avocado slices. I got my meal full of rice, no guacamole and no salad. They gave me cabbage instead. Sent it back and they replaced it but still full of cabbage. I gave up and asked for a side of salad. It’s not that hard to make a salad.

I really like the food, especially the fish tacos, but had to walk out after I saw them, what looked like the manager, making my tacos with his bare hands. They may be clean but I don’t know that. *To Rubio’s staff* Please retrain the your staff on food handling safety. It is California Law for all members handling ready-to-eat food to be wearing gloves.

Food is always good, but service gets an F. Slow, lazy, unfriendly. Don’t staff enough people for lunch/dinner

This place never disappoints. I always get the grilled gourmet tacos with steak on the 2 taco plate. They come on a corn tortilla with cheese, bacon, onion, cilantro, your choice of meat, avocado, spicy cheese sauce, and I put extra salsa and lime on there from the salsa bar. It came with beans and chips also. My husband got the mix n match taco plate and got the grilled mahi mahi which came with corn. He also got the grilled tilapia taco. He said both were great, but preferred the mahi. This location recently(in the last month) remodeled and has new signage. It looks great. They have a nice outdoor patio. It is clean and the service is great! I will go here every time I am in town for sure!

New redesign is NOT kid friendly. Took out most individual seating, and now high bar type chairs and community type seating. Totally sucks.

Brings back memories. I used to love this place in middle school, but then we moved to Maryland and I recently came back to California to see my parents for the summer, so it’s been almost 6 – 7 years since I’ve had a Rubio fish taco. Still the same, phenomenal taste. Always get a corn tortilla and always come on Tuesdays. It’s $ 1.50 for each one. Squeeze the lime on the taco, and enjoy three of them for under $ 5. A must-have if you’re in California. Nothing beats a Rubio’s fish taco.

It’s all about taco Tuesdays. Taco Tuesdays is pretty popular at this location and while there is typically a line to order, the line is usually no more than five people deep and takes 5 – 10 minutes to receive your tacos. The cashier, German, is friendly and the food runners are polite. At $ 1.50 a taco, you’ll get a crispy, battered fish wrapped in your choice of a flour or corn tortilla, topped with shredded green cabbage, a sour cream sauce, and mild salsa. The battered fish can be a little greasy, probably because they put together your fish taco as soon as it’s done frying and, therefore, doesn’t get a chance to sit on an oil-soaking device(e.g. napkin). I’m a fan of salsa bars so it’s great that Rubio’s has one. The bar is decked with mild, chipotle, jalapeño, and picante salsas. You can also choose from citrus jalapeño and diablo sauces from bottles, and pickled jalapeños and lemon wedges. I can’t vouch for Rubio’s other menu items because frequenting their taco Tuesdays every few months is a good enough of a fix for me. Just make sure to show up on Tuesdays after 2:30 p.m. and before they close at 9:00 p.m. to take advantage of the $ 1.50 deal. 3.5 stars.

Can’t go wrong with Fish taco Tuesday. Had them for the 1st time about a month ago. And it seems like I keep coming back for these delicious tacos. Lady behind the register, Flor was super nice too. Oh yeah did I mention they have Beer?! Lol. A Modelo while you wait for your food. not a bad idea :)

Tuesday tacos are the sh**!! I tried the fish tacos one day and became instantly hooked! This location is very clean and spacious. They usually have one of their staff members go around to clean tables every 10 mins to make sure there’s always a clean table for new guests. There’s one Hispanic gentleman, wish I knew his name. I believe he’s the manager because I see him every time I stop by and seems to be the one in charge. He’s the nicest, most caring person ever! It shows that he really cares for his guests. Keep up the great work!

We were craving for Mexican food and since we were nearby The Plant, we decided to go to Rubios. We never tried this place, but we heard they have yummy tacos! I ordered the shrimp tacos and my gf ordered the fish tacos. These orders on the menu comes with chips and beans. The shrimp tacos were good, but the fish tacos tasted much better.

I know it’s a chain and I usually don’t like chains but they’re SO nice here. The food is always fresh and well prepared and served up with a smile. And those Langostino tacos are to die for. Really. They’re awesome. I like their little street tacos too. An easy quick grab on the run. The parking here sucks, but it’s not their fault. Big secret, park around back and there’s LOTS of parking available.

TACOTUESDAYISTHEBESTDAY! The cashiers are friendly. They remember my friends because they go there every Tuesday for their inexpensive tacos. Tacos are $ 1.50 every Tuesday. I think 4 – 5 tacos will fill you up for dinner, even for people with big appetites.

Came here on a chipotle binge and was pleasantly surprised by their food and sauces! I also came here specifically to review Franchesca who was really friendly. I don’t normally review chain restaurants since expectations are low but felt inclined to do it since it was nice for a chain cashier to be so agreeable and not«I hate my life here and I hate you too.» I think people would be surprised by the quality of the food. My taquitos were very tasty! They were soggy but it was a to go order too. The sauces were also very good. I liked their mild and picante. Mild is as spicy as a tostinos mild sauce and the picante as spicy as their hot. So not very spicy but tasteful. Chips were cantina style. I will come back again.

Rubio’s has some of the best fish tacos I’ve ever had. My go-to here is their Original Fish Taco plate, served with chips and Spanish rice. The fish tacos were delicious, battered and fried to perfection. Their salsa bar is always stocked, and they have a nice patio for you to enjoy your meal on a nice day outside. Rubio’s is primarily a company-owned chain, not a franchise. I rarely review restaurant chains because you’ll have a different dining experience at each one, but the employees here are so incredibly kind and attentive to their customers that I feel like they deserve this glowing review. The manager, German, is always polite and does an excellent job anticipating what his customers need(extra plates, napkins, order time, etc). I would go out of my way to visit this location, just for the quality of service. Parking is in a private lot but may be difficult to find during peak dinner times, as there are many, many restaurants in the plaza.
