The Waldorf Chicken Salad Sandwich was delicious. Savory with mushrooms, walnuts, and bleu cheese crumbles. I highly recommend it!

What a fun discovery! Great selection of sandwiches and salads. I had a tasty(yet slippery) portobello mushroom sandwich.

Love this place! Fast service, great atmosphere. I’m never disappointed with the salad special of the day and live that there are always new choices.

This is my favorite lunch spot for a healthy and quick lunch. I enjoy the banter with the staff. really friendly guys but you have to have a quick sense of humor. The chef changes the menu weekly as well as seasonal. See you there!

Love this place! Menu changes weekly, very affordable, good portions and fast service. I eat here at least 2x a month since i work across the street. Also, its a great lunch place when its a nice day out since they have tables and umbrellas outside for customers.

There are few times I say this in life. Incredible water and the food was fun and fresh. When you come here, you’ll see what I mean :)

At roughly 9 months pregnant I decided to sneak away alone before the baby came to walk around an art museum. But before I did so I had to stuff my face and baby belly. The café is right across from the ticket stand. You walk in and check out the menu on the board. It’s really interesting and full of unique items. I was really surprised. You order at the counter and find your seat. The make everything right in front of you so that’s refreshing. The two employees were really efficient and sweet. They made a great team. I went with the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich with a cup of Squash Soup on the side. The Sandwich was perfect! There was a Horseradish Sauce that was ridiculously yummy. It was piled with meat and veggies. I was not expecting such a perfect sandwich. Plus, a pickle on the side. Lovely! The Squash Soup was good kind of tasted like Green Enchilada Sauce with chunks of Squash. It was good but I could pass on this next time. If you’re hungry before or after the museum, go here! I’m sure the menu changes based on ingredients. If that Roast Beef is on the menu, do it. Do it for the Horseradish Sauce alone.

This place has great coffee, it’s a great space, the staff were nice, and it’s definitely a cut above what you usually find in museums.

Tolerable museum café. In a colorful old building, but the inside is modern and dull, and the air is stuffy and hot. Food passable but not of notable quality.

Yum. I always stop here after going to the SJMA. I’ll say it’s because of the parking validation with the sandwich that I always get. The sandwich I love is roast turkey. They serve it with a pickle :-) There’s a separate container of some sort of whipped cranberry spread that’s so good on it. So basically it’s getting a sandwich for the price of parking. Thumbs up!

Great little lunch spot downtown. They have a good menu and their specials never disappoint. Their portions are generous too. Their quiche is always inventive and seasonal.

I came here a week ago and I enjoyed my sandwich. I ordered a half sandwich half soup and got the chicken salad on a croissant and squash soup. The chicken salad was delicious and on the sweater side. I liked the nuts that were mixed in. The soup was bland, but it helped with the sweetness of the sandwich. I would like to come back and try this café again. I would want to try a seasonal special the next time I’m in downtown San Jose.

…nice selection/menu, reasonable prices, nice employees, good people watching! What more could one hope for? And because its right there in the museum, its a great place to take a respite from the exhibits before looking at more good art, or shopping in the excellent book/gift shop. Oh yeah, and you can go into the café without having to go to the museum if that’s your preference. There’s outdoor seating too!

Okay so this place is quite inconsistent based on my experience. The first time i went here, I had the pesto chicken wrap and it was quite fresh and delicious. Also, the portion was quite huge. Any who, came back a few times and tried a few other things and their kiwi pastry. The food was okay, depending on the day. The most recent time I ate here was because I was craving their pesto chicken wrap. So I ordered to go as usual. Went back to the office and had a bite. First bite, not bad… still tastes good. Second bite(now I have a bit of the chicken, lettuce and sun dried tomatoes) and the salad was bitter. As I kept eating, the bitterness of the salad just overtook the whole dish. Not only that, but the wrap was soggy too! They put in a pickle on the side and it was a juicy pickle so it got the wrap super soggy. Oh here comes the best part! About halfway into my wrap, I bit into something hard… hard enough to hurt my teeth. So I went digging for it, wondering what it was. Lo and behold, it was a piece of chicken bone! No kidding!(If you don’t believe me, go and look at the picture I posted). At that point, I was pissed off and didn’t want anymore of this bitter tasting, soggy wrap. I deconstructed it and ate whatever was edible and tossed the rest away as I was already disappointed as is. I don’t think I’ll be visiting this place again anytime soon… if at all.

10% off in the café for museum members — nice little perk. They also validate parking for 40 min. Tried the sandwich+salad combo of veggie panini and seasonal autumn salad. Bread was really tasty, but the vegetables in my panini went MIA — unless you count the marinated artichokes and cream cheese. They made for an incredibly heavy, single-dimensional sandwich. The salad is decent — a random mix of hazelnuts, macadamias, yellow bell peppers, mixed greens, simple vinaigrette. Had a few spoonfuls of the ravioli soup — ravioli swimming in chicken bouillon. If short on time, better to spend time with the exhibits than in the café.

Absolutely delicious sandwiches, paninis(you MUST try the shiitake one) and coffee(the house coffee is wonderful-a real rarity). Courteous service!

Taking a break from checking out all the controversial Indian art at the San Jose Museum of Art, we dodged all the naan and curry that was being thrown at the staff from the protestors outside to duck into this nice little café located right on the lobby floor. BTW. the art wasn’t too controversial, in my opinion, just a difference of opinion on what certian Indian religious figures look like, such as Vishnuu. At any rate, between the chanting, the fighting with switchblades ala Michael Jackson’s music video«Beat it», and the security, it was more exciting than a trip to any museum should be. This little café had some nice stuff, and I tried the sausage panini sandwich,. At 7 bucks, it was okay, but not sides, like some fries or a salad.boo. Would not mind going back to this café next time i want some curry thrown in my face.

I was up in San Jose last week tagging along with my sis, as she was attending a work conference. We stumbled across this place as it was next to the hotel we stayed at, The Fairmont. We made the mistake of following some signs that pointed to the café and ended up going upstairs and staring into some room where there was a meeting going on… we were a bit embarrassed lol. Anyways, we then realized we needed to open a closed door that said ‘Enter Here’ or something so we finally found it. We ordered the pick 2, I got their soup of the day which was salmon and potato soup and their chicken breast sandwich. Both were great, but the soup was EXCELLENT! I actually went the next day and got the same order! I wanted the soup recipe but was embarrassed to ask so if anyone has it please let me know. For both it was under $ 8 which was good because some things in San Jose can be pretty pricey(like the Original Joe’s place we tried… I would not go back there!) If you want a quick, fresh bite, definitely try this café. You can sit outside and enjoy the view or inside. We sat outside, it was a nice day. :)

I’ve eaten here twice for lunch on the weekends and both times I got the half soup and half sandwich! yummers! Their menu items change constantly! Chicken sandwich(with pesto aioli, provolone and roasted red peppers served on foccacia bread) with pumpkin soup. Turkey sandwich(with cranberry aioli, tomatoes, and lettuce) with a butternut squash soup. Extremely quick service! The prices are quite reasonable around $ 7 for a meal. But their cake slices are expensive… $ 4!!! I’d rather walk a few yards and go to Bijan Bakery, where their desserts look prettier and fresher! But they have nice modern furniture/lounge seating, outdoor seating(on warmer days), and wireless access.

Service is still quick and friendly, but it seems like the food is going downhill. Maybe I’m just ordering the wrong things? I still consider this café one of the better places to eat near my job, but I would not recommend the quiche. It’s huge and actually more like an egg pot pie. My quiche was very bland and had hardly any zuchinni or proscuitto in it. I am all about crusts but they don’t cook the crust enough in my opinion. Also– I wish they would use better lettuce in the salad. It’s just iceburg lettuce with a few cucumber slices, two cherry tomatoes, and tons of shredded carrots. It was okay– but I think I will stick with the panini’s and sandwiches.
