We went to Space47 because it was near where we parked the car. It’s a small gallery that you can see in under 15 minutes. They were showing«Stay Gold» by Shizu Saldamando. It’s just 4 large pieces of art work. From the write-up it says it’s about a plea for optimism in an otherwise bleak social context. I thought it was just ok. They had a bunch of grapes for the opening reception. Nice if you’re in the area for FREE First Fri of Ea Month Hrs: Wed-Fri 12 – 4& by appointment

Small gallery, but they have super interesting art every time I’ve been there. Really really like this place and will always stop by when I’m in the area!

This place is on a side street near 1st street. It’s close to MACLA and a liquor. When I was walking back from the other Sofa District art galleries, I accidentally spotted this pace. It’s oddly placed and unusual because I visit the art scene on a monthly basis. I don’t know how long they’ve been there. Mysterious. 47 fairly small. About the size of a small dorm room, this place has an overall white theme palette. It’s white painted walls are wide and tall for the size of the room. A 47 is the storefront window. The«47» is fairly abstract but cool looking. The art hangs on the walls but there is enough room for small to medium sized sculpture. It’s mission statement states that«Space 47 is an independent project space that aims to foster new ideas and experiences, support artistic exchange and development, and inspire a larger community of cultural entrepreneurs.» I like the mission statement better than the stale interior. ___ I’ll place this in my galleries to visit. It remains to be seen if they can foster great artists. __ Update 3÷5÷08 The work is great! I finally had to time to properly visit it and I impressed.

An intriguing gallery space put together by two local artists, Angelica Muro and Binh Danh. They present shows of installations, photography, and just about anything else you can imagine. And some things you can’t imagine.
