Firstly, they don’t do check-in complementaries any more. This is a cozy and bubbly ambience to be in on a friday evening with you mister. The food is pretty decent. I got garlic noodles and merlot and both ended up being my favorite here. And for starters we got fried calamari and rotis and we loved it. My husband however shared his experience with his order was not the best. The lamb meat balls was very average. Make sure you use Unilocal reservations or call them and reserver before you go. This place is CROWDED with ppl.

Here are my preferences when dining out: –I prefer my cocktail to be served without a dead spider floating at the top of the drink. Good thing I was seated outside in the daytime, as it’s so dark inside the restaurant that I might not have seen the dang thing. –I prefer to have the staff not seem as though it would literally kill them to crack a smile(at least once?) while waiting on customers. You know the pretty, yet stuck up girls you see at a second-rate night club that think their sh*t doesn’t stink? That’s who you will get waited on here. I think they think they’re doing you a favor by even talking to you. Not a cool vibe. –I prefer not to have to hunt my waitor/waitress down every time I need something(dead spider drink replacement, water refill, the check??). It was a nice leisurely day, but that didn’t mean I wanted to spend all of it waiting for the staff to happen to occasionally drift my way so I could get flag them down. Minus all of that, I give them two stars for the nice ambiance and the tasty but overpriced Asian-fusion food. Never going there again.

It gets really crowded on Friday evening and they are open late. Enjoyed the appetizers and drinks here. It happened to be my birthday when we visited! They let us cut our cakes and sing happy birthday :) Nice place to stop by with your friends.

I like the atmosphere of this place. I had great service during my dinner here– very friendly hostess and waitress. The food came out pretty quickly but drinks were a little slow. It is overpriced BUT it’s Santana Row– everything is overpriced ;)

Service is pretty rank here – we sat outside and the server apparently went on break and we were helped what felt like hours later by one of his co-workers. The brandy drink(I think) was too sweet and tasted like Iced Tea, and came in at a hot $ 12. The garlic noodles, surprisingly, were pretty good. The clientele all are dressed like they’re hitting the red carpet, since San Francisco seems like it’s light years away from here. I wouldn’t rush back here, but since it’s one of the few places with more than your standard beer and wine, has tv’s for sports, a hip interior, and a good looking crowd, I guess there’s not many other options.

I am a regular here and it’s always a fun time. With night club/buzzy atmosphere with shareable plates of Pan-Asian cuisine, it always a good time. Date nights, Girl night out, or just grabbing a drink after work. They have beautiful spacious outside seating for brunch or breezy evenings. My go to dishes here are Tuna Tar Tar, Straits Butter Chicken, Wok Fired Mussels.

Surprised to found that that their food is actually really good. I thought this place was only gonna be those Asian wanna-be that’s super americanized. Please note that this place is super darkkk inside even during the day! We came during HH on Monday(3−10pm) and it was so worth it. Came with like 10 of us and we ordered everything on the HH menu and most of them was good, my favorite was the satay, Brussels sprouts. For $ 6 a plate and being in Santana row I think it’s a good deal. Will definitely come back again!

*Food* Veg Mee Goreng– Flavorful, sweet and spicy with potatoes, grilled veggies, bean sprouts, diced fried tofu and choice of clear noodles or egg noodles. Not authentic Singaporean flavor tho, but yummy. Pad Thai– Very Flavorful! Entrée looks brownish, not the usual red sauce! *Portion size is just right!* Prices are reasonable considering the location and restaurant setting. *Packed* Had to wait to be seated on Weekends, full house for the whole late afternoon till evening when I was there! *Quick service* *Outside Seating* available, but constant loud revving posh cars driving by 5 feet from your table can be quite annoying.

TLDR: Overpriced, Americanized Asian food. Ok happy hour. Friendly but super forgetful staff. That being said, this place is ok for happy hour. Ok fine — it’s ok if Yard House has a two hour wait because the Warriors are playing. Seating is quite plentiful so you can easily get a table on the patio or around the bar area. Happy hour menu is limited on the drinks, but not bad for food. Drinks are weak, so if you like sweet drinks that are light on alcohol you’ll like them. Otherwise, I recommend you order off the regular menu. Personally I stick to wine or whiskey on the rocks because it’s safer. Happy hour food is $ 6 each: Chicken satay skewers(4⁄5) Not bad, tender, good flavor. Comes with 6 small skewers. Spring rolls(3⁄5) This was actually one roll cut into 5 bite-sized pieces with a mixture of Hoisin and Sriracha on the side. Salmon poke(2⁄5) A couple pieces were way chewy. Ugh! It was odd too, came in a tiny bowl on top of old white rice. It’s different than poke you’d get elsewhere. I’d skip this. Pork belly tacos(3⁄5) These had a kick, which I liked but it was too much for my friend. So beware! Also most chunks were small cubes of pure fat. But the flavor was ok, spicy yet bland at the same time. Skip this. Watermelon shrimp(3.5÷5) Think this is new. I liked it. It was refreshing but it was much more watermelon than shrimp, so the watermelon flavor was a bit overwhelming. Don’t forget the free roti with checkin. It’s delicious, crispy and flakey.(4⁄5) Service is always friendly. They’re really forgetful, because every time I’ve been here there was a missing dish or forgotten drink. Personally it’s not a big deal because rude service is way worse. Just be sure to check your receipt so everything adds up. I’ve been here for brunch, lunch, dinner and happy hour. I’d only come back for happy hour — when yard house is too busy.

Good not great nor close to the bestest place in The Row but the appetizers hit the spot for me! They have plenty to choose from and the price point is reasonable. There is just a whole bunch of both healthy then terribly unhealthy yet tasty treats here. It’s a date and people watch kinda place for sure. Service is ok, not great nor fast but it’s a place to try for the Santana Row only bucket list wise for sure! Crab bun thingy was good!

As expected, the food and service were below average, no surprises. I’ve never really been optimistic about this location or the one in Bgame. I think straits does a great job with their décor and ambiance creating a nice atmosphere, but lack elsewhere. The food and service are not a reflection of the atmosphere. They should really focus on the quality of the food. We ordered quite a few items off the brunch menu, none of the really stood out. Made a huge mistake and got the banana blossom salad which was nothing like the description and tasted straight awful. Our server was not attentive and she had a lot of difficulty splitting the bill evenly. In the process of taking our cards she dropped mine on the ground and didn’t realize until I mentioned it was missing from the rest of group when she retuned with the receipts and cards. Took 30+ mins for her to figure it out and all we received was a measly«sorry about that» . I would only come back to grab drinks with friends but nothing more.

The ambiance and idea of Straits is very attractive. The food is pretty good. The garlic noodles, satay, corn patties, and others are good. The wok fried rice noodles were surprisingly spicy for not being described as spicy on their menu(and I like spicy), so be forewarned. They have vegetarian and gluten free menus. Their cocktails are generally good(sometimes too sweet), but the bar service is extremely slow. We waited 15 or more minutes for a server to come over and offer us a food menu and not a drink menu… at the bar… when there were empty seats and at least 4 staff standing around the bar. The bathroom is also usually not that clean. There’s also no real happy hour it seems, which is kind of surprising. Overall…it’s fine, but not super great.

An ex colleague from San Diego was visiting so the Santana Row is de rigueur. Since we both were not very hungry and it was passed 9 pm, we decided to go for appetizers: the ahi tuna and the calamari. Very happy to say that the very nice waiter honored our Unilocal check-in freebie(which was a dish with 2 delicious pieces of roti and accompanying dipping coconut based dipping sauce) even though the offer indicated you need to order a full entrée. I was very satisfied with the no-noise area we sat(outside, but not by the street, interior patio facing Cocola’s bakery). Perfect for catching up with my colleague in a nice setting with good customer service.

I always wondered as a student who the people are that have hours to gab over lunch on a random weekday. Then I became a nurse and figured out its other nurses and likely well-to-do housewives(my «secret» dream job). It was a glorious afternoon on Santana Row so we decided to dine al fresco here for our Journal Club. We beat the lunch crowd, though admittedly there were still plenty of seats even during peak hours, and enjoyed prime seating under parasols. Our waiter, Jordan, took great care of us during our extended meal and did not make us feel rushed at all. Our waters were always refilled and we were appropriately attended to. The three of us munched on roti and deep fried calamari appetizers, I had the garlic noodles with added vegetables(+$ 2) for entrée, and we shared desserts of fried banana with a petite Thai tea boba, and a chocolate lava cake. Everything was delicious and flavorful — definitely did not expect it from an Americanized Southeast Asian fusion restaurant. The roti, garlic noodles(huge portion!) and lava cake were especially delightful and super indulgent. It was about $ 35 pp after the complimentary roti with Unilocal check-in, but I felt it was decent value for the serving sizes, quality, ambiance and service. I would return again to check out their Happy Hour or for another al fresco meal!

Came here for Easter Brunch with my fiancé’s family right when they opened at 11am. I’ve come here for dinner before, but never brunch. The menu was limited, yet offered the not your average breakfast items so I thought I’d try something new. I ordered the beef hash and was pleasantly surprised by this flavor packed meal! Unfortunately everyone’s food was luke warm when served, like it had been sitting for several minutes from being plated. I would have enjoyed my food even more if it was served hot. Our $ 15 «Bottomless» mimosas were delivered 15 minutes after ordering which happened to be when the first entreé was being served to our table. Even more disappointing is that the mimosas being served consisted of 95% orange juice with less than a half splash of champagne. We commented on this several times throughout our meal and no difference in the drinks — MAJORFAIL :( My suggestion is that they UP their game for the brunch scene, especially for a holiday weekend like Easter. Would have expected much more… Maybe they will get it right next time.

Dinner for 2. Living behind Santana Row means I give restaurants 2nd and 3rd chances, and reading my previous review was shocking as I had a much better experience this time. — Ambiance(4⁄5) Really cool vibe, still a but loud for me inside. — Service(3⁄5) Quick and courteous, though a little absent minded. My salmon entrée came at the same time as the appetizer and well before my wife’s entrée came. Street noodles also seemed to have been forgotten– took 2 reminders. — Roti Prata, $ 8(5⁄5) Same rating as last time. Really fun to grab the pieces with your hands. Great curry dipping sauce as well. — Pan Seared Salmon, $ 20(4⁄5) Perfectly cooked salmon, though the skin could have been just a tiny bit more crunchy. The sauce was a really great pairing for the fish. — Street Noodles, $ 14(4⁄5) The flavors were spot on, though I again found the noodles to be slightly overcooked. — Value(4⁄5) I still find the roti to be too expensive, but the salmon is a pretty reasonable deal. — Final Word I’m not sure why my experience was so bad the first time, but this time I had a good time! Spot on flavors and I’ll come back for the salmon.

The food here is just okay. The samosas came out soaked in oil. The noodles were good. The waitress never came back to check on me. The place looks modern and upscale but the service did not match the décor. With all the different variety of places to dine in the area I would have thought the service would have been better. I advised the waitress that it was my first time eating at Straits and if she could recommend any dishes. Many of the dishes I inquired about she said were not that great. I began to think should I just leave at this point. They have an open station for beverages along the walk way to the restroom and it’s a traffic jam. But they have plenty of available seating and tables. hmmm I wonder why. Fridays may be busy here not sure I went on a Sunday. Entrees are reasonably priced for the area. If, you are looking for a place to go with a nice ambiance this is definitely a go to but if you are looking for great food and excellent service you might want to walk around Santana Row plenty of other restaurant with better service and food quality in the area.

This place is all about Ambience! Perfect for hanging out with friends. Great music and great crowd! They have a bar and lounge area. Food style is Indian-Chinese-Japanese-Thai fusion. Reservation was a cake walk and we were seated promptly. Servers are attentive and polite. Food had its ups and downs. I have mixed reviews. Mint Soda — Refreshing! Chicken satay and Paratha Roti — Divine! Chicken lollipops — crunchy but oily. Garlic noodles and Spicy Street noodles — Literally Sweet!!! Almost dessert like. No hint of spice! Not happening :( Straits butter chicken — Bleh! Lemongrass chicken — Amazing! Mango Tapioca pudding — Decent — Not spectacular! Hot lava cake with ice cream — Finger licking good! I am coming back for the music and ambience! Still have lots of options to try! Must recommended!

Straits restaurant has a good ambience if you are looking to hang out with a bunch of friends. It is certainly not a date place, you just cannot make conversation. The music is too loud, I wonder why they want to do that in a restaurant. I wonder if they are trying a «fusion» of a club and restaurant. This would probably be a wonderful place that offers a good dining experience if they only turned down the music. Talking about food, they have some really nice appetizers that you can eat with the nice cocktails that they serve. We tried the chicken lollipop, vegetarian spring rolls and the chicken satay. The chicken appetizers were very tasty, cannot say the same about the spring rolls. The garlic noodles and the veggie curry were well made. We also liked the traditional singaporean chicken curry. This is a very nice place, but for the loud music that is a mood-killer. They do have a nice lounge and bar area. The outside seating is also lovely. I just wish they did something about the loud music.

This is a fun, trendy, loud place to come in SR. Asian fusion food, food ok, not executed as well as the sister company sino. I personally prefer sinks, but the décor lounge experience is pretty happening here too. Prices seem a bit higher her compared to sinos which is on the same strip. Plenty of seating & availability here, except on times where it’s super busy on the strip. Outside seating is a great option here when the weather is nice.

This place was alittle odd. I wasn’t sure if it was a restaurant, club, or a bar. There was loud music, tons of people walking around, nice lounge area, and music bumping. Was pretty cool place to hangout with friends. I wouldn’t find myself here with a date, since it was too loud. Can’t talk or make jokes. Conversation would be trumph by the loudness. I didn’t order any food, but I did get some drinks. Drink selection was nice. Very well presented, and the ambience of the place was nice. The overall feel of the place wasn’t too bad. What I didn’t like was the loud music. It wasn’t a club, but it somewhat presented itself like one. Was difficult to talk and enjoy the lounge area. When the music placed, it was a lot of techno. I like techno, but there was a thing call too much techno. It was too much. Rating: Food: n/a Price: 3 Ambience: 3.(Would give it 4 stars but the noise dropped it to 3) Service: 3 Overall: 3 Would come back with a group.

Food was good and well presented. It actually came out pretty quickly, considering it took us 30 minutes to wave down a waiter. Then an additional 30 minutes to finally find someone to bring us a bill. After asking 3 different people and never getting a bill I was starting to think maybe the meal was free? :/The Wok fried ice noodles were my favorite, with tons of flavor. Everything else we ordered(besides curry dip) had a sweet taste to it, which I’m not that in to. The curry dip was good, but was a bit cold when we received it… But, the main reason for the low ratting and why I wont be returning is that I NEVER saw even one of the employees smiling! The two hostesses looked miserable the whole time and never even one smile!

The food is really good. I would recommend raw bar seafood platter, really well cooked and seasons for cold raw bar food. Service is good, they are constantly short of help. But very responsive. The location itself is very nice! Right in the middle of Santana Row. The interior pretty cool, sort of a club-like setting with dark lighting and very loud music. If you were to have a date here I recommend getting seated outside. The food itself was delicious and portions were perfect. My favorite dish is the garlic noodles, very flavorful with mushrooms that are perfectly cooked. We also ordered the Roti Prata, which was also delicious! the Roti was flaky but good! and the curry sauce was sweet, but a bit cold. The risotto was okay. The rice was a bit over cooked and the risotto itself was a bit too creamy for me. Overall it was a bit pricey, but a great place to have a date!

Service: Service was pretty good. The guy was pretty nice and I think he did a great job. Food: My girlfriend and I got garlic noodles, Roti Prata, and Straits Risotto. Garlic noodles were the best! It had the perfect amount of garlic, and wasn’t too salty. Roti Prata was good as well! I loved the sauce, would’ve been better if it the sauce was a bit warmer, but it was okay. Straits Risotto wasn’t my favorite, the rice itself was overlooked and a bit overwhelming. Vibe: It was a great vibe the music was too loud inside but we were outside so it was alright. Parking: It’s Santana Row!!! Deal with it. Overall: I give a 3 star because the food wasn’t that great, but will definitely come back for the garlic noodles.

We made reservations for a Friday night. This restaurant is definitely trendy so if you’re into that night club vibe for dinner, this may be the restaurant for you. You walk in and the music is pretty loud — we didn’t mind since it was a Friday night and we were getting ready to go out afterwards. Anyway, we ordered fries and mussels for appetizers and I ordered the basil chicken with coconut rice for dinner. Delicious! Our server was attentive and we got our food fairly quickly. I think I’d like to come back.

«Is this a club or a restaurant?» I wondered as we entered Straits in Santana Row on a Friday night. On the left, a lounge area filled with pretty girls and their perfect MAC eyeshadows and a live DJ spinning EDM like it’s a Vegas mega-club. On the right, couples on date night slipping lychee martinis and slurping up garlic noodles. The atmosphere is clubby without being douche-y. Based mostly on Malaysian and South Asian flavors, the dishes I tasted were too overly sweet and was disappointing since Malaysian food is a blend of salty, sweet, and hot. I tasted none of that delicate balance and when done masterly transports the diner to new culinary heights. Here, the one-note dishes were a step above regular asian spots. The starter of roti prata and curry was one of the few high notes. The roti was burn-your-fingers hot and crispy and the curry was textbook perfect. Our entrees of Lemongrass chicken and spare ribs and garlic noodles were average. The spare ribs were tough and chewy and served with a sickeningly syrupy sauce. The Lemongrass chicken was fried and served with a disjointed sauce of mutable flavors. I’d only come here for the ambiance when I want some semblance of night life which the South Bay lacks.

Not a good spot for vegetarians. The«V» on their menu includes fish/seafood. Don’t come here for the actual food or service. It gets 2 stars for the decent appetizers, music, and lounge-y feel. If you’re coming here for a casual meeting during happy hour, it’s a decent spot. Otherwise don’t come here to eat an actual meal. I got curried vegetables and it was absolutely terrible. My stomach already hurts a bit from the dish. I didn’t know«seasonal vegetables» meant old/frozen vegetables that have completely lost their flavor and crispness. The fries were also very bland and flavorless. If you find yourself here the only decent menu item was the mushroom roti prata. Give it a try.

Went here two days ago with my boyfriend. I’m just going to start off by saying don’t waste your time. The customer service was terrible. This Caucasian-looking guy was our waiter. I asked him what he would recommend and what the most popular dish on the menu was and he was like, «I don’t know, everything?» Yeaaah, that’s very helpful. I mean come on, at least lie about it and recommend something because something is better than nothing. My boyfriend and I ended up sitting out in the heated patio. We ordered the garlic noodles and padthai. The food was mediocre. Not great, but not the worse. The food was overpriced for the quantity and quality. Our food came out at a decent time, but I did finish my water before that(the cup was pretty small). Let me give you guys a little advice. Don’t sit out on the patio because THEYWILLFORGETTHATYOU’REEVENTHERE. The entire time I was there(probably around 45 min to an hour) they did not refill my water and my boyfriend had to go inside to ask for the bill. When the bill came out, our waiter admitted to forgetting about us, laughed, and walked away to another table. He obviously should not even be working at a «fancy» restaurant, let alone any restaurant at all. I’m never coming back here again. Go to the other restaurants in Santana Row, even if the wait is long. Save your money and spend it somewhere where the service and food is better.

I’ve came here a few times and have had good experiences. I just recently ate here on Friday for my moms bday. Our waitress was sweet and took our orders quick. There was a problem with my dad’s drink so they brought him out a free one. The food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the roti prata, chicken satay, and the chicken curry. My parents got a really spicy vegetarian dish which they loved. On top of bringing out a cake my husband brought for my mom, our waitress brought her out a cupcake as well which we thought was sweet. Overall it was a great time. Good service(multiple people checked up on us), good food, and a good atmosphere.

Main reason why I’m giving it one star is because we ordered oysters(probably a bad idea on our part) and my friend got severe FOODPOISONING. I don’t think this could have been avoided but I still would expect a classier place would have oysters clean from toxins. Very pricey for food I can find elsewhere. The food was decent. The calamari is not as good as what I would get at an average milk tea place. My friend and I got two types of noodles. The one I ordered was the pad thai which was very strong in flavor but according to my friend not as authentic. However, I’ll give it to them since it is a fusion place. The interior is very classy and the door to the place was actually hard to find haha. We walked around wondering why there was a huge wall but no opening. This place is definitely popular for a classy, romantic setting with its candle-lit tables. I do not plan on coming back here.

Solid 3. The food is decent, but a little more pricey than what the quality is in reality. For evenings on the weekend, the place is pretty loud and hard to hear anyone that may be speaking to you. At times it has a weird ritzy older feel and other times, it’s just some surrounded by kids with snobby tudes. The service isn’t the greatest. I felt that we waited for someone to take our order as well as trying to get the bill paid. The staff otherwise seem nice, just overwhelmed. We came here tonight and had a banana smore dessert and churros with nutella. I don’t think anything blew me away, it was nice, but nothing I would seek to come back for unfortunately.

My cousins and I went here on Saturday for brunch. Of course we ordered bottomless mimosas. However, we started noticing that we only got OJ. After bringing it to our server’s attention, she brought the OJ and champagne and poured them in our glasses. She poured more champagne than OJ. We ordered the crab cake Benedict, breakfast roti prata, and crispy chicken and waffle. The roti was delicious. The crispy chicken was salty even with the maple syrup. The bussers were attentive, they cleared our plates and refilled our waters. However, they came by more often than necessary. Why did they have a bathroom attendant so early in the morning? We had fun here, I prefer the morning atmosphere versus night time.

The biggest feedback I want to put for this restaurant is their food is VERYSUPERSALTY!!! We ordered several dishes, we cannot stand their saltiness! Even we ordered rice, it still sooooooo salty! The most salty one is staits style beef… The fried Brussel is just like eating salt crack! The other Singapore style black pepper prawn is almost the same salty like beef! We have to order extra rice to eat with it!!! The other dishes become tasteless after u taste the salty dishes. Service and drinks are good, food are not recommended!

This is definitely one of my go-to fancy restaurants when I’m looking for a nice night out with friends. I would not recommend this place for families(especially on the weekends) because it can get quite loud with the music/conversations and dark with the lighting. As for the service, I’ve always had pretty good servers and there was even one that played in the same soccer club that I did so that was an interesting conversation point between us! As for the food, I always stick to the calamari and the salmon because those are by far my two favorites. They changed the salmon up a little bit because it used to be wrapped in a banana leaf and covered in a spicy sauce, but the replacement is really good as well! It has a crispy skin and a really nice flavor so I still definitely recommend it. The calamari is always one of my favorites because it’s different from calamari at traditional Italian restaurants. I really like that it has a kick to it with the spice rather than normal calamari preparation. My friend got a salad and said that even though it looked like it wouldn’t fill her up, it definitely did so that’s good news as well! I’ve been here with others who have enjoyed the seafood green curry so I presume that’s another good dish to try out. Overall, it’s a place with good food and good service every time I’ve been here and I would recommend it to anybody who’s in the area!

Came here to meet with some friends for a Secret Santa gift exchange… was not great… I was the first of my group to arrive and while I waited outside, I took a look at the menu. Basically, Straits serves overpriced Singaporean-fusion type food and alcohol. I’m glad we came on a Monday since their happy hour seems to be all-day. This included $ 5 wines/bubblies, $ 6 signature cocktails, and $ 7 beers as well as a small list of $ 5 shareable plates. Our group ordered basically everything off the menu and doubled our order of their roti(super delicious)! Everything else was meh. Service, on the other hand, was pretty fantastic… except for maybe the last 20 – 30 mins. Michelle was with us(for almost) the whole way through. She was patient when we hadn’t decided on what we wanted for the millionth time. She was cheerful and kind when explaining why our chicken satay hadn’t come out yet. She was helpful in letting us keep the extra fries we didn’t order. But by the end of our meal, she was nowhere to be seen. We’d catch glimpses of her when we were trying to get our check; it was like she was a ghost… so spoopy In the end, a really nice busboy guy tried his best to help us out. He was apologetic and basically backed up Michelle when she had ghosted us… *cue Adele’s «Hello”* lol We finally paid our check after almost half an hour of waiting around. Would probably not come back. Thanks for the experience!

I had a weirdly disorganized experience here… not enjoyable at all. We arrived at the end of the lunch hour, and were informed the restaurant area was full, but that we were welcome to sit at the bar area adjacent to the regular seating. No problem. We were approached by a very friendly man who we thought was our waiter, but I believe was a busboy? He offered us water, told us about some of the food we should order, and then disappeared. We waited so long, giving eye contact to the many many staff scurrying about that we finally had to get up and approach a woman wearing an out door coat, who appeared to be a manager. She sent over a befuddled waiter who seemed clueless that we were there to eat, not merely sit there with menus and water. We placed our order and not five minutes later… outdoor wear attired manager lady plops a big chicken sandwich with fries on our table. Yeah not ours. remember us, we just hunted you down for service seconds ago? She seemed really confused that we didn’t want this chicken sandwich. Then, after another 15″, rapid fire dishes arrived at the table with no explanations, no comment, just plopped on the table by a hurried woman… yet another service person. If you are counting, we are up to 5 different service people now, including the host who seated us. On to the food… its just ok. We shared a Ahi Tuna Stack, mealy and under seasoned with greasy triangles of fried wonton. A Fuji Apple and Prawn salad, which amounted to a overly large stack of crazily uniform julienned apples, and 4 watery prawns. The Roti Prata was delicious, perfectly puffed and warm, fantastic curry dipping sauce. Our final dish at a whopping price of $ 30.00 on the lunch menu was a Sea Bass origami. Basically en Papillote. It was delicious as well, perfectly steamed in a fragrant broth of shitaki mushrooms. We were charged extra for rice, not included in the $ 30.00 price point for the one filet of fish apparently. Then, we waited… and waited some more, back in the Siberia of service. Finally the waiter comes to ask if we wanted anything else. More time goes by, he brings the check. I have a gift certificate that I am using to pay. He’s gone for a long time. We’ve now been at lunch for 90 minutes. He comes back to explain that they are having difficulty processing the gift check. My friend leaves, because she is late to pick up her kids. I finally approach the host area in the front where there are 5(!?) staff persons assembled. I’m informed by yet another woman who could not have appeared more bored or annoyed that I was there, that they were working on it. Then she cheerily announced we are«all set». Uh, I haven’t even seen the bill I reply. Finally a bill is plopped in front of me for $ 80.00 with no comment, not a word said. My gift certificate was $ 100.00. I left. I gave up. I don’t know what they did with my $ 20.00, I don’t know if the there was tip left(not sure I wanted to leave one honestly given the service level). Won’t be going back. Still amazed that there were that many people on staff, and that it was all so incredibly disorganized and mismanaged. Skip it, there are much better restaurants on Santana Row and it’s just a hot mess. Perhaps Straits just should be what it really wants to be. a bar.

Man, this place is posh. We started our night of happy hour hopping here and I can’t say I was disappointed. The prices during happy hour are as happy hour prices go, ranging between $ 5 and $ 10. The portions aren’t too big though so you’ll need to order more dishes if you’re planning on sharing with the whole group. As fancy as this place was though, I have to admit my favorite dish was still the Straits fries, which tasted like garlic fries. We also ordered the calamari(not on happy hour menu), garlic noodles, and shrimp wontons. All good as well! As for the drinks, they served my bubbly in a bigger wine glass so… not sure if I got more than I would have gotten in a flute but I’m not complaining. The service did slow down when business started to pick up. It held us back for a bit but we still came early enough to have more time. I definitely want to come back to check it out during warmer times with the doors open!

Came here with a group of friends to catch up and watch the Warriors game. The restaurant had a nice ambiance, playing good EDM, but service was so slow! Don’t serve food, if you don’t have enough servers. It was impossible to get the attention of our cocktail waitress after she dropped off our drinks. Food: Decent offerings with a large menu. We ordered the garlic noodles, chicken«lollipops», and roti prata. The chicken dish was the best, it was nice and crispy with a sweet glaze on top. Garlic noodles didn’t really taste like how they’re suppose to, it was more of a chow mien. The roti prata was too greasy and not flaky enough to be broken apart for sharing. Overall, Straits is a fun place to go for drinks and dancing on the late night. I wouldn’t recommend coming here for food.

I used to love coming to Straits for Happy Hour whenever I had weekday afternoons off, but this past week I was surprised to find all of my favorite HH appetizers have been replaced with new ones. No more calamari/carpaccio/duck sliders, no longer worth the price! The only thing I enjoyed from the new menu is the stuffed roti with mushroom. Not from the HH menu, my favorite drink is the lemongrass mint soda. Service has always been a hit-or-miss, but recently more a miss.

Love the service and the food. The staff and the managers were very attentive and friendly. Deli was our waitress, and she was very nice too. I highly recommend Straits.

Food is good but not amazing. They have a lot of Indian food/Asian fusion. I think you could get the authentic Asian and Indian for much cheaper and not to mention it would probably taste a lot better! Drinks are good & venue is nice. Workers are really cute, sweet, and attentive! What to order– Duck sliders are a must. I feel like it’s one of the most popular appetizers. Banana blossom salad Pad Thai Chicken lollipops Seared ahi tuna on top of cucumber Oysters The roti

Came here for an early dinner since Yard House had a 30 min wait. Had a good experience though! Great ambiance and setting. It reminds me of a legit bar/lounge. The place is spacious with low couches inside. Caution the inside is really dim, too dark for my preference for a restaurant. Food 4⁄5 banana blossom salad — liked the tangy dressing and crisp texture of the salad. It was dark so didn’t see what was inside that well, but it tasted good! Lamb sliders — good seasoned meat and Hawaiian roll was a nice sweet touch. Portions came small but it was rather quite filling! A cute place to catch up with girlfriends, people watch, or come for a nice classy date!

Happy HOUR all night on Mondays only in the bar & lounged area with $ 5 and $ 6 deals! By the time we arrived they were out of many cocktail ingredients & the cocktail we ordered was WAY too syrupy PLUS: Nice open-air lounge area & side walk seating along Santana Row if you need to catch a game they have a few tvs for sports

Love the décor, the ambience and the food! I would suggest you make reservations especially for a weekend. We were 8 of us for a Friday night. Tasted both veg and non veg dishes, best being the Roti Prata(for Vegetarians), chicken Satay, chicken basil entrée, butter chicken something, and garlic shrimp noodles. I would say pretty decent quantities and prices for the upscale décor and crowd they have. I must mention its a pretty loud place, but I like it that way, so I enjoyed it. I just love walking around in Santana Row. Convenient free parking and you always have an option to pub hop if you are up for it.

A modern Singaporean restaurant and lounge. Right in the center of Santana Row. Has a lit patio with streamer lights surrounding the front and side. Loud music blazing at night. Darkly lit room with a very intimate ambiance. They have small plates ranging from $ 8 – 15. Main dishes, beef/poultry/seafood range from $ 15 – 39. They serve a selection of Curried and spiced foods. I love me some spice and heat to my food, but the food served here isn’t intolerably hot, just right. If you wanna be fancy and dress up and lounge this place is a good choice but a little pricey. Straights spare ribs– very sweet with a soy BBQ flavor. My friends say it was a little on the salty side but for me it was okay. I have salty taste buds. Roti– was on the greasy overly fried side but still had crunch and was limp. Should be thin and light and flaky. . I can continue to nit-pick each dish but overall the food taste and quality is a solid 7⁄10. I just have higher expectations that if I am paying premium the food should coincide. More just for lounging and a chill cool sexy place to get some drinks but decent food for $$$.

Have very low expectations here. Small portions Expensive dishes Bland food Garlic noodles tastes like bland chow mein Alcoholic drinks taste like poorly mixed purée Said it was family sized when it’s only enough to feed one person each dish Only plus was the waiter had a good attitude Thanks for trying, Lea!
