The Hair Connection

My family has been going to Barb for a couple of years now, and we’ve been pretty happy. I love going to her salon, with the funny quotes, beautiful fresh flowers and seasonal décor. I often run into my neighbors there — turns out my whole neighborhood goes here, parents, kids and all. I usually go for a color and cut, and like experimenting a bit with different cuts, and varying highlights. I feel really comfortable coming here as I don’t feel pushed to try something drastic. Barb knows how to contour the cut to best suit me, whether I want to sport my hair long or short. I have seen her do gorgeous bold highlights for others, which I’ve admired, but she totally understands when I tell her it is just not for me. She is skilled at giving me the most natural looking highlights, which I love. I just realized while writing this review that she has never pushed any of the hair products or jewelry she sells there, though I’ve noticed folks buying them on their way out. She focuses on what she does best — giving people the best look with their hair, so they look and feel their best!

My family has been going to Barbara for over 10 years (mom, sister, and I). She is absolutely a genius at hair! We recommend her to everyone we meet. I don’t want anyone else touching my hair (In fact, used to make an appt with her whenever I visited when I lived out of state.). She is an amazing person and stylist!

We have been going the hair connection for over 20 years! Beginning when I was in 4^th grade and im now 33. Barbara is AMAZING. I walk in, sit down and say, «do whatever you want» how many people have that much confidence in their hair dresser. Barbara makes everyone feel like family. She is a genius with color and fabulous with the up dos!!! She did all the color and updo’s for my sisters wedding. Barbara always fits us into her schedule… like the time I burned my hair on a candle at 5pm on a Friday… Barbara calmly said «hurry up and come in, ill fix it!» And she did!!! I will never go anywhere else. Other good points: SUPER kid friendly, all my mom friends bring in their kids while they get their hair done, affordable, very educated staff and fun, laid back environment! I always recommend The Hair Connection and haven’t had one complaint.

Barbara is a lifesaver! I went in with a mess of hair color I had received from a woman who claimed to be a seasoned colorist. My color was uneven, brassy, and totally fried! I had wore a hat for a week while I let my head rest from the damage. Barbara assessed my situation and knew exactly what to do! I left the salon feeling confident once again! My mess turned into a beautiful, healthier brown style! Her products are top notch and leave your hair looking better than ever. Her shop is hidden in a small strip mall, but you will not be disappointed by the level of knowledge, warmth and care that is inside! Thank you Barbara!

Came in for a hair cut appointment on a saturday morning. There was one customer before me and only two employees there, the place seemed very dead. Location is kind of hidden in this strip mall which seemed deserted on this particular Saturday.
The lady who cut my hair was very nice, explained to her what I wanted and though she didn’t seem very familiar with what I was requesting (place doesn’t seem like somewhere that a lot of young people go) she did a good job and I was happy with the result. The price isn’t bad either 25 pre-​tip for a haircut (hair wash is extra). It definitely does not compare to the haircut I got back at my San Diego Salon but for the price point you can get a good haircut.
Place is kind of far for me to be coming regularly and wasn’t the perfect, amazing hair salon I am looking for. Alas, will have to continue my search…

I love this place, I’ve been getting my hair done here since I was a kid, my family has also been going here for years. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I love going to get my hair done by Barbara (the owner) and we always come up with something fresh and beautiful, I’m always leaving happy and looking good. I highly recommend Hair Connection.

Not froufrou or expensive — The Hair Connection just has the best hairstylists in the San Jose/​Cupertino/​Los Altos/​Mountain View area. I’ve been going to Barbara (the owner) for 10 years. She is a genius with both coloring and cutting/​styling hair.
I’ve sent a lot of girlfriends to her and they wonder why they ever went anywhere else.

It’s been like 5 years since I chemically treated my hair, but after seeing my sister’s in law hair and how nice it turned out I just had to get my hair did. :) After this 3 day weekend, am lacking on words… all I gotta say is that Macara is the go to girl. She is super sweet!
