Best beef soup(Cocido de res) I’ve ever had! Will definitely be back. Great service too.

Below average mexican food. Dry and yucky ground beef and chicken tacos, the two taco plate is very small and unsatisfying for the price. Lower quality than many cheap taquerias, enjoy the glowing ambience of an old cheap big box tv playing soap operas. For $ 15 including tip I won’t be returning, just low quality food sorry, I went here because it had 4 stars but yikes

Best cocido in town! The combo plate with enchiladas suizas and chile relleno are also great. For breakfast I ask for an overhard egg topped with chile verde sauce along with a side of hash browns and rice. I love the chile verde sauce! Last time I went I tried Camarones a la diabla, which is shrimp on a just perfect spicy red sauce. It is served with rice and beans on the side with corn or flour tortillas. I highly recommend this plate: P

I remember coming to this place when I was younger with my parents. Haven’t been here in a very long time, but one morning the hubby & I decided to try it out. Yes, it’s an old place, but some of the best places are hole in the wall places. So far we haven’t been disappointed and have been back a few times since. My husband is very picky about his menudo and he was happy with the menudo here so far.

Came on a Sunday for lunch. This place is a «hole in the wall» and was moderately busy, which means about 20 people total. However there was ONE server/busboy/cashier/bartender for the entire place. And one cook. I absolutely don’t blame her for the painfully slow service(perhaps someone called in sick, etc) but it took 25 – 30 minutes to get an order in and she forgot one of our drinks, a michelada. Couldn’t even snag her attention to remind her. I got a combo plate(chicken taco, enchilada and chile relleno). Flavor was fine but the moisture from my chile relleno flooded my other food and made it soggy. You could tell the cook was in a rush too. I may come back to try the cocido but if I see this is the norm of how they run their business, I will walk right out. The food is decent but not worth a 1.5 hour experience. Also, it’s cash only. ATM is inside if needed.

What?! I didn’t write a review for Trine’s yet?! The beau took me here a couple of years ago because he grew up eating at Trine’s with his mom so this place is pretty nostalgic to him. It’s pretty much a hole-in-the-wall and I absolutely love places like this. The owner never remembers him until he puts in his order(3 cheese enchiladas with an over-easy egg on top) because according to him, «I’m the only one who orders it like that.» The cocido is my favorite from Trine’s! The pork just falls right off the bone and I’m a veggie lover so this was just perfect. I recently learned that the cocido is ready by 10am, so when I tried to order it at 9:30am, I was sorely disappointed and had to settle for my favorite Mexican breakfast: huevos rancheros. The cocido seriously sells out within a couple hours of it being ready, so if you’re slow and steady, you won’t win this race. Buen provecho!

I LOVELOVELOVE to come eat soup here! Before I stopped eating beef, I would always order the cocido de rez, but now I’m a big fan of the cocido de camaron. Slightly different broth, but still the yummy veggies and lots of shrimp. For some reason this only comes with the rice, and not the beans though. I am usually the only«white» person in there, but that is ok since the waitstaff is welcoming and friendly.

I tired the Cocido everyone was raving about because I was sick and in need of comfort food. I called in my order and it was ready as soon as I got there. The lady at the counter was sweet and even suggested I make lemon tea. I carried-out and ate the food as soon as I got to work. The meat was soft and the portion was large. The broth was flavourfull, my only complaint is that it was too salty. I would go back and give them one more chance since it’s so close to my work, the staff is friendly, and the rice and beans that came with it were good.

Like many have said, and I will repeat, COCIDO!!! This review is for the Cocido only. I have not tried anything else and probably won’t. I can’t get my self to order anything but Cocido without feeling like I’m missing out. It’s very difficult to understand why it’s so good really. It just is! The broth alone is award winning. Everybody, please try it at least once. You will not regret it. Trust me, it’s better than your mom’s!

This small restaurant offers many dishes that I have enjoyed over the last few years. There are two or three dishes I especially like. The cocido is wonderful and makes a great lunch. The combo plate #1 is a larger meal that I order if I’m hungry. It’s a taco, Chile Relleno, and a wonderful Enchilada. Of course the Mexican fajitas are often my choice. They make beef, pork, chicken, or shrimp fajitas. I always get great service. They will make whatever you want to order. The price is fair. I highly recommend the little restaurant if you like Mexican food. To me Mexican food at Trine’s is authentic Mexican cuisine.

I’ve been eating at Trine’s for so many years now(since 1980)!! They have the best food, but most of all, their COCIDOISTHEBEST! I’ve had it elsewhere and no one has better cocido! Especially when you are not feeling well, their cocido makes you feel so good!

Im a big fat baby when I’m sick and when I’m sick, I want some of my Dad’s Bulalo soup(a filipino dish). But since moving out here from the East Bay, my dad can’t nurse me back to health with this soup =*( So I Unilocaled soup in my current location and was drawn to a picture of a bowl of beef and veggies eerily similar to my dads. OMG could it be!!! No it wasn’t Bulalo. It was COCIDO and it was *almost* just as good. Beef was tender, it had corn, potatoes, carrots, and cabbage. The broth was light but flavorful. Served a small side of rice, beans, and corn tortilla. It was delicious home cooking… and I’m feeling better already =)

So… I arrive at Sa By. Sit for 10 minutes.(There are 6 take-out people)., A waiter comes and takes my order, Five minutes later, I’m told the special is not available. So I order a standard menu item and a glass of wine. Ten minutes later I get. a glass of water. All this time, there are about 8 people in the restaurant, and maybe 6 order-to-go people. So I went to Trine’s, had excellent carnitas, and watched the World Series. Cheers!

Was working around the corner and this place was recommended by the the business owner. I tried it. It tastes good but it’s more healthier than just tasty. Older but clean restaurant with a friendly staff.

We have been eating at Trine’s No. 3 since the 1990’s. It is a cozy place. The employees are always friendly. Our favorite is Chili Verde Pork Burritos. Yum. Cocido is very good also. Enjoy.

There really is only one thing to order at Trini’s at lunch… Cocido, cocido, cocido! Trini’s Cocido is a Mexican beef soup filled with beef, squash, potatoes, and other veggies including a small ear of corn. The beef broth is clear and this soup makes for a hearty and pretty healthy meal. It’s accompanied by your choice of flour or corn tortillas and a side of Mexican rice. Nom! If you have the time, a nice cold Michelada goes well. Trini’s is a down home café where casual is the norm and has a regular following.

We used to come here all the time with my parents when we were kids for the cocido. It tastes just as good today! Love the cocido and the carnitas plate at this place. My husband likes the Chile Verde plate here but always leaves feeling hungry. Please add more pork meat and less beans and rice to this plate, Trine! The waitresses are a bit impersonal… usually there’s only one working there at a time. This is cash only so stop at the ATM machine beforehand.
