My son has now been going to UTA for 4 months and I couldn’t be happier with the choice that we made to send him there. He absolutely loves all of the instructors, and they all are great with the kids. I can already see the difference it is making in him. As for the previous review… I do agree that it does seem like a big commitment to make, but I took tae kwon do when I was younger; and it is something you do for years and not a month at a time. It made me think twice about sending my son, but I’m glad that we made the commitment. Remember they are making an investment our children as well, and they want dedicated students.

This place seemed like a wonderful location for my son. The instructor(Dustin) is great with the kids and they really like him. The students really seemed to really like the class. Unfortunately, the process for registering is more complicated than registering your kid for elementary school, almost requiring a lawyer. 1) If your child is over the age of 7, you can only sign up for a year at a time. You have to commit to an entire year with them. The younger kids can sign up for 6 months at a time but they will auto renew your 6 month note. 2) The way they force you to commit to a year, is by making you sign a promissory note for the annual amount. You pay off this promissory note in monthly payments, but once signed you owe them for an entire year of monthly payments, regardless. 3) When you ask to review the promissory note, you are told you can’t take it with you. They tell you that you can sign the contract/note and review it after you sign it as you have 3 days to cancel. However, inside the contract/note the language around the cancellations states that you may forfeit any downpayments or payments that you have already made. You also need to mail it registered mail to them to arrive by midnight of the 3rd day. So while you can ‘cancel’. .. you still can lose money. 4) They require direct access to your bank account to withdraw the payments monthly. It is too bad that they have such heavy handed tactics as it seems like a good school.

This Tae Kwon Do Dojang is one of the finest in the south san jose area in my humble opinion. This Dojang is an accredited school with the WTF owned and ran by a blackbelt that has received her belt through the WTF(thats World Tae Kwon Do Federation) and(not What The F). She is great with little ones as well as older ones and patient with the new ones. The enviroment is clean, positive, stong, and very inviting as opposed to intimidating. The first time my daughter and I walked in there Maria noticed us immediately and gave instruction to her senior belt to continue the class and greeted us very warmly answered all our questions and let us know when her next introductory class was along with a class schedule. During my daughters first class and many others to follow. I noticed the instructor was very direct on explaining that you do not fight and avoid fights at all cost, which made me pleased. This school is perfect for anyone child or adult who wants a formal education in this martial art. If you’re looking for school that teaches aggressiveness or you want a formal education in kickin butt, Go to Rex Kwondo. Cuz you won’t find that here Peter Pan.
