Called the shop and got a quote for to have my front splitter installed. Ted which helped me, was super knowledgeable and would install it the same day. At the end of the day I was happy with the installation and the price I was charged.

Have used Valaya exclusively for my Viper and a number of my other vehicles. Their automotive and racing expertise is unsurpassed.

I’ve been wanting to add some performance upgrades to my C7 for a while now and decided to upgrade my exhaust setup.
Searching for performance shops in the Bay Area, I came across Valaya Racing in San Jose. I spoke directly with the owner Ted May who is definitely knowledgeable when it comes to performance upgrades. When providing costs estimates, he was definitely reasonable and walked me through everything that I needed to know. He even worked with me to drop off/​pick up the vehicle at my best convenience. They also forgot to give me back my wheel lock key when I picked up the vehicle but had their lead tech drop it off to me during their lunch. Big thanks to Mario! Valaya Racing has been specializing in Corvettes and Vipers for over 16 years.
Overall, I’m very happy with the work performed! Would definitely refer my C7 Corvette club to them.

HORRIBLE PLACE & SERVICE! If you drive a Viper like me or any nice race car Valaya is the place to AVOID to all means! After some badly needed «service 1» tune up on my ’08 DODGE viper the owner ted and few service advisors just left me hanging/​never returned my calls. I was there and they answered my questions nicely etc. but then after that just never picked up my call and started ignoring me, this is very RUDE & Extremely unprofessional!! i came to find out later that they did this bcoz my best friend didnt want to sell them his expensive Dodge Viper parts when selling his car and I was associated with him! Of course he is my best friend and also referred me to their pointless place of business. To be placed on a No priority by this shop owner and their behavior is very undependable and childish like. I would just take my car to the dealer where you will at least be treated with priority service and care.:)

I heartily recommend these guys. They not only are honest and do a great job and know their stuff, they really do customer service right. They’ve taken good care of my raptor and boss 302. Plus they do everything from race cars to commuter cars.

Let me preface this by admitting I’m not in the right income bracket to even sit in a Viper.
So when I bring in my janky rides into a place that specializes in performance racing vehicles, and I *still* get 5 star service like I was a dot-​com millionaire, then I know I’ve got a winner.
I’ve dragged in a faded Oldsmobile minivan for cooling system work, a peeled paint (but mechanically sound) 87 Shelby Turbo Z for oil leaks and CV axle work, and a beat-​up 99 Toyota Tacoma for starter replacement. All next to a bunch of high performance rides that are in for mods that by themselves cost more than my entire automobile history.
But even then, it’s always fast service. When they diagnose, they dig in there and make sure the problem is solved and solved right. Today I brought in my «new» 05 Subaru with what I thought was a bad wheel bearing. A couple hours later and I get the call, it’s just a bad tire. No upsell, no drama, no «try to find something expensive» with these guys.
Their shop rate is even less than many dealerships and some of the «quick tune» shops around. Plus they don’t have new mechanics every month so you know whose gonna do the work.
Gonna be back in next week to get the brakes done (aren’t used cars fun?) and I know it’ll be handled right so there are no worries.
Plus I get to look at the awesome rides while I wait :)

I was so excited to find this place. A friend-​of-​a-​friend recommended I get my car fixed here, and my first interaction was pretty positive — I didn’t get everything done that I wanted because they had my car for 3 days just to clean the AC drain — they’re pretty slow. But a lot cheaper than the dealership, so I was encouraged. A good mechanic is always a handy person to know. But they are so disorganized and unprofessional I’m surprised they stay in business. And they do well enough that they don’t feel any obligation to return phone calls or text messages! They acted like it was a huge honor for me to be in their presence — my car is just a car, not exciting or worthy of their attention, I guess. The scary dog Ted owns lives in the messy, cluttered dirty office, growling constantly at clients, including children (Ted seems to be in denial, thinks it’s normal) and to me, the dog seems quite unstable — this is coming from a dog-​lover so is used to big dogs. Not a welcoming, relaxed environment for customers.
So after MONTHS of begging them to fix my car, and Ted saying «yes, you need to have this done soon» they finally gave me an appointment for the first week of July. They had recommended I get this work done well before my car reached 80,000 miles. I figured there was no real urgency, as (back in April) that was 6,000 miles away. I waited FOUR MONTHS for them to finally make time for me. So there was no way I was going to miss that appointment — I rearranged my schedule so I could be available to bring in my car. And then: Ted cancelled the appointment at the last minute. Promised he’d get me another appointment quickly. Yeah, sure. Well, despite me dropping in twice a week and leaving dozens of messages, I reached, and passed 80,000 miles on my odometer. They were all so apologetic and nice when I dropped by, promising to fix my car soon, and always with some excuse as to why they had ignored my messages, but after another month of excuses, I started to realize they were just stringing me along. Ted wouldn’t give me a straight answer when I would ask how much it would all cost (another red flag) and I got the feeling either they wanted me to give them permission to run up the bill — they got really evasive when i suggested they give me an actual estimate with a ceiling or some kind of worst-​case-​scenario prediction OR it’s possile they weren’t really sure how to fix my car’s problem, so rather than admit they didn’t know, they were hoping I’d find out somehow (Ted suggested several times I get Audi to give me specifics on what was broken). Apparently there are like half a dozen position sensors, and Audi wouldn’t tell me which one was broken — but seriously, how rude to keep a customer waiting and waiting, cancelling appointments at the last-​minute, and making excuses until they’ve put 6,000 miles on the car? If they had said «sorry, you need to get the dealership to fix that» or «you’ll have to go elsewhere, we’re too busy/​uninterested in your problems/​irresponsible/​disorganized/​drunk/​whatever they would have saved me months of waiting for them, and I would have had it fixed and sold ages ago. I’m not one of the dreaded «clients from Hell» so it’s not like they couldn’t have been straight with me.

There he was, my husband, stranded in the middle of the road. I was going to save him, as if he was a damsel in distress. But this really nice guy from Valaya stole my thunder. He was there as a knight in shining armor fixing stuff on my husbands car when I arrived. According to my husband the folks of Valaya pushed him off the road and checked out his car, jump started his car and then sent over a mechanic. Seriously, how can I compete with that? So my husband and I drove to Valaya to drop off his car.
It was kinda weird, the building was huge with a sign for a restaurant on it (I think). The only thing that made you think it was a garage — from the outside — were all the awesome looking cars parked outside. Inside it didn’t look like much but there were folks working on cars so we believed we were where we were supposed to be. The knight of shining armor (the mechanic) was super nice and his super cool dog decided I was ok. Less than 3 hours later my husband called saying his car was fixed. Mind you, this was the day before the 4^th of July… seriously I can not compete with that, these guys are just too awesome.

Ted and Mario are the best of the best! I live in Marin, but have NO problem fighting my way back and forth the 60 miles or so I have to travel to have my Viper serviced by Ted and his crew. Friendly, knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile to provide the best service. Pricing is reasonable and workmanship is beyond perfection. Highly recommended!!!

This shop is owned by a guy named Ted May. Absolutely the best auto-​shop I have ever been to in terms of the quality of work they do. Ted as well as the rest of his mechanics are very knowledgeable and friendly. This shop is well known for its expertise for Dodge Vipers and Mazda Miata’s, but they work on all types of cars: classics, tuner, muscle, etc. Overall a great place for simple check-​ups to even the most extremes like that of a motor re-​build. I will be bringing all my cars as well as referring all my friends and families cars’ here for a long time!

Valaya Racing is the best Viper tech out there. They specialize in Dodge Vipers and do amazing work. Ted May and the boys are great to deal with. They also work on Corvettes and other cars as well. Go check them out.

This place is great for your auto repairs and checkups. Ted May doesn’t only do racing cars. My whole family from Civics to Mercedes have been taking our cars to Ted for years. He can always be counted on to be honest, only do what is needed, and do great preventative and well as catastrophic repair. He’s very knowledgeable about all kinds of cars. I recommend the whole team highly!

If you own a Viper you have to get work done at Valaya Racing.
Ted taken care of my Viper (ported & polish heads, custom headers, engine management, 3:55 rear diff, etc…). Ted has been the most honest a fair mechanic/​owner I have worked with. I bring all my cars for him to work on. He is the expert on Vipers, his prices are great and the work is outstanding.
