BLT&A, came with no A. Bread was dry except for a light smear of mayo. Bacon was not cook completely. Ordered a fried egg to go in it. Egg was horribly over cooked. Dry no taste not good at all. Water tastes really bad. I noticed the hostess making up settings at the entrance pulling forks out of a metal canister with I guess water in it and then drying the forks off, ick. My stomach was upset after leaving. The over all place did not look clean. Not many people there compared to other cafes next door. Will not be back. Follow up the owner refunded my bill for the sandwich and apologized via Unilocal mess.

Food was tasty. Service was great! My wife and I enjoyed our brunch there. The place definitely has a more shabby than chic vibe, but somehow it works. Worth it for a quick meal and interesting atmosphere.

Stopped just for coffee & baclava. Delicious cappuccino & americano and very nutty baclava very good. No one in the café, nice to be outside but décor was nothing to write home about.

What the hell happened to this place ??? What used to be a lovely Greek-themed café in a wonderful venue with wonderful, fresh food and friendly, prompt service has somehow transformed into a Greek-themed restaurant with dreadful food and horrible service. We ordered the chicken and lamb«gyros» as usual. What came back this time was grainy, obviously microwaved, processed-meat, bland, pita-bread sandwiches. The water and sodas we ordered almost(almost) got served with the meal. After going back to the kitchen(twice) I did manage to shake them loose for ‘desert.’ The café was not busy and there were at least three servers, so no excuse for this that I could see. No apologies offered either. With all the nice cafes and bistros in the area, I have to recommend you go somewhere else. Anywhere else.

Located right by the Amtrak station in San Juan Capistrano, it’s pretty secluded and could be hard to find parking. Luckily if you park across the train tracks in that parking lot, it’s a really short walk, just not sure when they enforce payment in the parking lot. It’s got a great outdoor area for eating, but when we went around breakfast time on Sunday, it was pretty deserted, i think there were about 3 other people that came after we got there(we were the first and the place had been open for about an hour or so). Food was decent, a little on the pricier side, and the service was nice, but just super slow. We waited around 40 minutes for our food and it was just sandwiches AND there wasn’t anyone else when we were there, so not sure why it took so long. The staff was nice but just didn’t come around often enough.

Ordered the lamb shank. On the menu it says you don’t even need a fork to take the meat off the bone, but in reality it was pretty dry and fibery. It was extremely salty as well. The waitress appear to be pretty inexperienced too. Passed us the check without asking if we care for desserts. Would not recommend this place unless the other places around are all full.

Absolutely love this coffee shop! I have come here multiple times with my sister and some coworkers. Love this place so much and will definitely be returning. The pumpkin spiced latte is to die for!

We came here to have lunch, but we sat at the table and we’re waiting for at least 10 minutes with no acknowledgement. We could see that the service was really slow. We really wanted to eat here as the food looked really good. But as we were leaving, we noticed that no knew we were there and no one knew we were leaving without being served. Who knows how long it would have been for us to just order drinks. It seems a shame, as this restaurant seems like a nice family run restaurant with good homemade food. We ended up going to Mollies Famous Café instead. Gotta get your act together guys and get more organized or hire more people.

First of all, y’all need to wash your glasses! They were so filthy that I barely reached for the water. The only reason I’m giving this a 2 star is because of the galaktoboureko. That beautiful pastry was sooo good and the portion was pretty reasonable as well. I also tried the original gyro and that was pretty good too, but if I ever come back it will be for the galaktoboureko. Cleanliness: 1⁄5 Galaktoboureko: 10⁄5

An excerpt from my personal Food and Travel blog… We «sniff in» at the Hummingbird Café(949−443−5090) for a lemonade and an iced coffee on their patio. The iced coffee is alright but more like a hot coffee they chilled which was semi-bold enough for an iced java. I’m not sure how their chef survived today as hot air resembling an overly ambitious furnace blows our hair back as we walk past the kitchen area.

Average food. Great location. We stopped by around brunch time. Espresso machine was broken. The omlettes and the breakfast burritos were average. The Caesar salad was below average. By the way tons of flies around mainly because their trash cans are outside 10 feet from the patio seating area.

The best chicken lemon rice soup. It was super good. The grilled chicken in soup was amazing. My daughter enjoyed the entire bowl.

I want to give it a 2.5, but the staff is friendly and quick so I’ll round up. The food ranged from okay to verging on unacceptable. The breakfast burrito was soaking wet, with mushy vegetables and no flavor. I’m trying to be objective, but I had to dump salt and tapatio on it to eat it. Friends Asian wrap was average to okay. Probably try something Mediterranean off the menu, it might be better. Prices are fair though and atmosphere is great.

Beautiful aesthetics set to the background of the Los Rios historic neighborhood. Quaint mediterranean café with decent prices. The hummus is excellent but the spanakopita and turkey wrap were just average. Don’t get me wrong — I’m not expected to be wow’d by every turkey wrap I encounter. The wrap had fresh ingredients but the turkey was deli meat, not fresh turkey breast. The spanakopita was not made the same day. Highlights include the shaded tropic setting and people watching. If you’re looking for ambiance, outdoors, and decent prices, consider this an option. A walk down Los Rios is a must.

Menu reads breakfast ends at 11:30. Sat down wanting breakfast at 11:15. Was told the kitchen cut off breakfast early, so the uninteresting remainder of the menu was the only option. Our drinks weren’t refilled, and the food was just okay. Definitely won’t return

I really can’t give it more than 3 stars(kinda want to give 2). If you’re hungry, in San Juan Cap, and want the outdoor experience without the wait at Ramos House, here’s the place for you… That really sums it up. The food was mediocre. I ordered spanakopita and could tell it wasn’t fresh. In fact, it tasted like it was refrigerated overnight for a few days, because the filo dough was spongy instead of crunchy… meh! I also ordered a falafel, but discovered that the falafal balls weren’t cooked enough, because they feel apart in my wrap… double meh! It was completely disorganized, they forgot our appetizer, and I spent more time interacting with the hostess for my check, drink refills, etc. because our waitress disappeared after taking our orders! Someone who looked like the manager of the place was obviously unhappy, and could have helped out with a few things(like taking my credit card for payment). Jeeze… Think I’ll just stand in line at Ramos House next time.

We happened upon the Hummingbird Café today for lunch. The menu has a lot if Greek items. We enjoyed the vegetarian grape leaves; Greek salad with grilled chicken and the Lamb Shank. Delicious! It’s a rare find in the OC to be able to enjoy so many Greek dishes. The grilled chicken was moist and flavorful. Lamb shank true to the menu; knife not needed melt in your mouth scrumptious. The service was friendly and helpful; patient. Love sarah !! We will be back.

Came in to Hummingbird House on a total whim. We were walking by, my kids were getting hangry(anger induced by hunger), so I quickly pulled up the Unilocal Monocle saw they had 4 stars, looked at the menu, saw they had a couple kids options, and went with it. I happen to love the Los Rios Historic Area, it is so quaint and perfect and sitting outside on a perfect, breezy and sunny Southern California day was idyllic. We were politely greeted and then told we could sit anywhere on the patio. The patio had amble seating and was really beautiful. Brick floors, lots of umbrellas to provide shade, beautiful palms and willows growing around, fences lined with bougainvillea on the train side and pretty flowers on the Los Rios Street Side. My boys even spotted a few hummingbird flying around, which I suppose is appropriate. Right after we sat, the server brought us water and menus and came back quickly to see if we were ready to order. I got PB&Js for my kids and ordered a chicken gyro for myself. A couple minutes after we ordered the server came back to tell us that they were out of jelly, which was kind of weird, but we just got grilled cheese instead. It took a little longer than I expected for our food, especially considering we were the only ones in the restaurant for lunch(it was early, like 11:30, and more people started coming as we were finishing up. My kids grilled cheese were fine, I liked that they used 2 different types of cheese to make it a little more special that your standard kids sandwich. My chicken gyro was so, so good! The chicken was grilled perfectly and really moist and flavorful, the tzatziki sauce was amazing! And the pita was browed and a little crunchy, which I liked because I felt like it held up well for the gyro.

I had about three minutes to order my man an iced Americano due to our train leaving. I was the only one to walk in, and I asked the guy if he could do it in under a few minutes– he did :) he was amazing and my BF loved the espresso used. He’s an espresso fanatic and knows the good shit, so major props for fast service, amazing espresso, and a friendly challenge that was completed on their behalf! I will be back– I wish I had longer but alas, the Amtrak! Looks like a treehouse set on ground floor! So adorable
