My children had a wonderful experience at Lazy W! This was their third year attending church camp and they can’t wait to come back next year. The counselors and staff were great and the facilities are well maintained. My children’s stories remind me of my experiences at Lazy W when I was a kid. The memories of being with friends and worshiping will last a lifetime. Tip: Arrive on time to avoid traffic jams on the one lane highway.

My daughter had the best time here this past summer, at their water adventure camp. She’s 11 and it was her first time at sleep-away camp. She was so nervous, but the counselors here are excellent, and they have a great program. She came back with great memories and wanting to go back next year.

I had heard how wonderful this place was until I found out that they overbook spots and not all of the kids get beds. My kid’s school offered an overnight trip where they board the Spirit of Dana Point for a coastal cruise and then to the Lazy W Ranch to pan for gold activity for about $ 300. He came home after the overnight trip and complained about his sore back. Later after asking about his trip I discover that 3 – 4 of the kids were given mattresses to sleep on the floor. I was a little disgusted with the adult chaperones who got beds and left the kids to sleep on the floor. How is it that all of the kids paid the same price yet some of the kids didnt get a bed? My kid brought home a little plastic bag of what they told him was gold dust. I had to break it to him that all he got was pyrite(fools gold). All together it wasn’t a total wash. My kid did get to sail on a boat. He did get some education about the forty-niners, but for $ 300? He would have had a better time staying at a hotel and paying for the activities a la carte. Or better yet, buy a gold pan and work the Big Tujunga for actual gold dust. That would have been a real experience. Consider this as you enroll your kid for overnight trips at this place.
