I made my reservation on a thursday night and i thought i had booked it for a saturday morning but instead accidentally made a booking for a friday morning. I realized it as soon as I made the booking and so I immediately called and left a voicemail and emailed the course and got 0 responses from anyone from the course and was charged $ 97 when I didn’t even play. That was about a month ago and I have not had any contact from the course except for the daily spam email from their bar and restaurant that floods my email inbox. Never give them your email and judging from a lot of other reviews their customer service is really s*** for everyone. «A Certificate of Credit will be issued for the full-amount of the golf fee that can be applied towards a future round of golf.» This is even said when making a reservation if you don’t make it but have I gotten one? Nope. And I will probably never receive one either.

Don’t call after 4:45pm; they won’t pick up. Like most courses, they haven’t figured out that the consumer has choices, especially with golf. See you in BK

Great course for price and has a lot of par 4s and 5s with elevation changes too. Only bad part is pace of play is horribly slow but par for lower tiered courses. The bar food is great especially their wings. Updated club house and bar too.

After using a third party service to book, the fourth guy of our group couldn’t show up. The course charged us for the fourth and told us it’s as good as cash. They wouldn’t let us use the ‘credit’ for food or beverage purchase which was stupid being I was told it’s as good as cash. No beer cart girls. Called the front multiple times and they said they didn’t have enough staff to send a golf cart girl. They also lied and told us that there was a beer and food staged area off hole 16, but no such thing existed. I recommend bringing in your own alcohol if you’re thirsty as how this place does not accommodate guests. I unfortunately have to play another round here due to my ‘as good as cash’ receipt, but I wouldn’t ever play here again.

San Juan Hills Golf Club is an amazing price/value! The course is in great shape. Greens are true, even though they get lots of play. The staff in the pro shop, including Ray, Matt, Christian and Jeff, are super friendly and caring. Stick around after your round and enjoy a cocktail and food in the great sports bar. Wonderful food and great drinks, served by super friendly people! I’ll be back again and again!

I come to San Juan Capistrano from Seattle several times a year to see family and always tee it up at «The Hills». It is a great course with enough challenge for anyone. The greens yesterday and today we’re beautiful and I expect them to be rolling great tomorrow. The folks in the pro shop and behind the counter are as friendly and accommodating as you will find anywhere. I am taking my two grandsons into the grill tonight for a burger and I will follow up with a food review. Hit ‘em straight!

Awesome patio and good vibes! This is a great spot for drinks. It has a nice view, large patio, and lots of tv’s. Drinks are fairly priced and the bartender was friendly. It’s an added bonus that it’s 3 minutes from my house. I’ll definitely be back!

Played this course on our way to Torrey. For the price, this course was worth the stop. The layout isn’t overly complicated and features enough elevation changes to keep the course interesting. Few holes have water, but rarely do they come into play. The green condition was good enough with some spotty areas where idiot golfers walk over their divots. Fairways had enough grass to allow for good shots. The nineteenth hole looked lively and filled with people — good vibe. The course did play slow, but that’s probably typical of Sunday afternoon golf anywhere down in this area. Overall, a good experience.

Cold beer on tap and awesome food! The Serrano chili quesadilla is delicious and the fries are the best in SJC!

DONOTEATATTHEHOTDOGSTAND!!! This is a review of the hot dog stand by the driving range just before hole #10. Played golf on Sunday 6÷7÷15. in the afternoon Just before playing hole #10, our group decided to get some hotdog from the stand. It was manned by a young lady who had no idea what customer service is. When we approached her, she was very indifferent and was constantly fiddling around on her cell phone. She prepared our hotdog sandwiches with her bare hands. She did have any gloves on. Who knows where those hands have been to especially playing with her cell phone which is generally considered dirty. As we paid her, she moved the sandwich to her other hand, got our money and gave us change, then got back to preparing our hotdog with the same hand she used to handle the money. I’m sure a few health codes were violated and that lady should not be allowed to serve food unless she is properly trained. San Juan Hills management needs to make sure their staff are properly trained in food preparation procedures.

I’ve been playing here a lot this past year. Got to know some guys at the club house and they were always accommodating and helpful. Course is nice, and super fun to play. Played on memorial day and had some drinks with my buddies(margaritas from the mobile snack cart are great). At the end of my round I came to find out that my keys had gone missing. After tearing through my bag, and car and not finding them, I took a cart and went looking on the course before it got too dark. I get to hole 4, and get stopped by two gentlemen that work there, but we’re off the clock, and just got done with a round. One of them starts yelling«get out of the fucking cart bro!» Surprised and already agitated since I may have to spend 200 $ on a set of keys, ask«why?! Why do I need to get out of the cart?!». I was told that I was driving erratically by hole one and I have to get out of the cart. I defended myself and said«no I wasn’t, all I’m doing is looking for my keys! I’m not getting out of the cart.» The gentlemen that stopped me then got out of his cart and got in my face and said«you fucking getting loud with me bro?!» I replied with«yes I am, all I’m doing is looking for my keys before it gets too dark! And what are you going to do if I am getting loud? I know you work here and I would love for you to do something so I can play free golf here!». After that a gentlemen named rob got in between us and kept things from getting physical. Then I said that I was just looking for my keys, one last time. And they guy responded with«i never want to see you play here again!!». Then I was escorted straight to the clubhouse, with no effort or help to find my keys. Needless to say I was pissed off more than I had been in a good while. Got to the clubhouse and asked for a manager but got the chef and explained what happened. In his defense, I wasn’t using the correct tone of voice, and was a little loud for him. So he escorted me to the parking lot after getting my info. Then two more gentlemen came out to relieve the chef of conversing with me. At this point they asked me what happened. After hearing what went on, I was asked«what laws did this guy break? What did he do that was illegal?» And didn’t understand that an off the clock employee stopped me, and tried to fight me on the course. Police we called, and I received a ride home from a friend of mine. All in all I will never play here again, not because I was told not to, but because the customer service was atrocious and I felt like they didn’t care about me finding my keys, or what I had to say. Almost being assaulted by an off the clock employee, and not taken seriously because I had a couple drinks(that were purchased from the mobile snack cart) the friends that I play with, and I, won’t be spending money here again.

Definitely an underrated course in OC. I read some of the reviews that talked about slow play, but we played after 4:30PM on a weekday and finished 18 in 3.5 hours. Greens were slippery but in very good condition and course was in really nice shape overall. Only suggestion would be that they run the food and beverage cart until 6 or so — it’d be nice to grab a beer and a sandwich for dinner between holes, but we’ll be back soon!

Well my Pops works here and I know all the staff that works here. I love this place and the employees, so many memories at this golf course and great personalities. Christian in the pro shop is a great guy along with Laurence in the restaurant. I appreciate all they go through on a day to day basis to consistently keep this establishment running. The remodel is really sexy as well.

In 2014 I photographed a wedding here and I really think the landscaping was done buy a photographer. There are so many great spots for shooting and the light is fantastic. the angles are all here. the staff and venue did do a great job and really made my job easier. I would definitely recommend San Juan for events.

As a photographer/vendor, I cannot say enough about SJHGC! Their onsite coordinator is fantastic, the food is gorgeous, the waitstaff is solid, the grounds are beautiful, their pricing is reasonable, my brides are ALWAYS thrilled with their events afterward. I am such a huge fan of this club and I’m always so happy to be booked for events there!!!

The course is interesting, fun and challenging with the FRONT9 consisting of some serious uphill action and some intriguing doglegs. The GREENS are not too tough with a few noteworthy exceptions. The course is well maintained overall. The CLUBHOUSE is small but nicely appointed with a Craftsman theme running throughout. I still haven’t sniffed the food here. BEWARE: A skinny«Punk Ass Little B» teenager(or borderline teenager) who works here may try to hijack you for tips for cleaning your clubs. This would be fine if you were aware in advance but this GROSSMANIPULATOR will clean your clubs(unbeknownst to you) while you are busy putting on the green of the 18th hole. Once you are done putting, he approaches you to blatantly LETYOUKNOW that he cleaned your clubs while you were away so he can solicit a tip. I golfed with two other parties this day and they had some singles to tip him whereas I did not. If I had a couple of bucks I likely would’ve floated them his way regardless of his semi-strong-arm tactic since he did«some» work. By the way, it was a really half-ass cleaning job. And this was only one of two times he sarcastically addressed me saying«I’m glad I could clean your clubs for you.» After taking my cart to the car and unloading my clubs I drove back to return the cart. This is where the«Punk Ass Little B» drove by and sarcastically said«I’m glad I could clean your clubs for you today, I hope you had a good round and I hope you enjoyed my cleaning your clubs for you.» And comment number two confirms exactly why he is a «Punk Ass Little B» and should NEVER be put in a customer facing job ever again. This tainted my round here and regardless of the nice course I will be back but I will likely find other comparable courses to spend the bulk of my time and my MONEY.

Came here last night with my wife for the special 5 course Valentines Day Dinner featuring the wines from LaCrema. Both the food courses and the wines were fantastic. Ron who works for the wine producer did a good job presenting each wine and the 19 Restaurant staff was excellent. We enjoyed the event but couldnt stay for the live band part. It was worth the $$. Thank you staff for a real good experience.

Came here for a wedding in November. The place is just OK, and that’s because the staff kind of ruined it. First, the ceremony was outside by the lake– the grounds are beautiful! But maybe ask your gardeners to stop mowing during the ceremony– just a suggestion. The cocktail hour was pretty good with interesting appetizers and good service for that portion. The reception area inside was pretty small, there was no path for the wedding party to get through. But it was cute and the seats were comfortable and the tables and silverware were great. BESTCONCEPTFOR A WEDDINGEVER– a build your own burger bar!!! It was genius! And so delicious! Just everything you could ever want on a burger! The only problem is that the father of the bride paid for three burgers per a guest and that never happened. The staff shut it down pretty quickly, which was lame. Lastly, the bar tenders. Sigh. The bar tenders. The older gentleman bar tender kept snapping at/yelling at the younger female bar tender. Which was weird and uncomfortable. They were also strangely judgmental. I asked for a vodka and diet and they kept trying to talk me out of it like it was the grossest drink they’ve ever heard. Just pour the damn drink and stop trying to talk me out of it for 5 minutes! The place also shuts down at 10, so no long receptions.
