Bob Roberts is an excellent CA licensed contractor who can do just about everything. Rather than subcontracting out the work, Bob does it himself.
We recently had him remodel our 50+ y/​o bathroom and he did a fantastic job from start to finish. Permitting with the city, demolition, hauling away, plumbing, flooring, tile work, electrical. He did it all himself. He brought a nephew in for the demo and hauling, but other than that he did the work personally.
Bob has a good eye and will make useful decorative and functional recommendations. Plus he cleans up after himself every day at the end of the work. :)
He also has good contacts among vendors. He will not push you to use his vendors, but will offer you options on how to maximize your budget.
Bob provides references from previous jobs. We selected him because we liked the work he did for a friend, who lives in an 90+ y/​o home. But he gave us a list of about 12 jobs he had done throughout the East Bay. (He has also worked extensively in Hawai’i.)
Since he has worked with many of the different city permit offices, he knows the different regulations and requirements. He has a firm grasp of what he knows and doesn’t know, and won’t bs you about a detail. Bob will ferret out the information necessary to doing the job correctly.
Check him out. You won’t be disappointed… except for the fact that we now have him working other home projects, so he might be busy :)
