Crunch

I like this gym a little better than planetfitness because they have classes here, especially at the times I can work out. Roxanne is a great fitness instructor. She’s great for beginners, intermediate and advanced. I like her classes because they’re fun and I get a great workout, plus she gives you a demonstration before you do the workout so you don’t get lost.
The equipment at the gym is nice and clean and there are a variety of machines and equipment to workout whatever part of your body you want.

Just signed up for a membership here. The facility looks clean and in good shape. The hours on the weekends aren’t what i had hoped, but hey it is what it is. Good sellection of equipment too.

I’m not impressed. Yes, they may have a few more equipments but it’s so Cluster phobic in here. The people who designed the layout didn’t put much thought in creating a workout environment. I’d rather go back to planet fitness where it’s more open.

Lol I seen someone give it 3 stars because it’s more of a beginners gym? Definitely not. This gym offers so much for a basic $ 10 monthly membership. Great price, awesome atmosphere and just about every equipment you need. I don’t even need to list what they have. Chances are they have what you’re looking for!
Oh yeah. I’ve gone all times of the day on each day of the week. And it has only been super busy, once! Enough space for everyone to enjoy a good work out!

I honestly like this gym better than most 24 Hour Supersports. It doesn’t get as packed as nearby 24 Hours but it gets pretty busy from time to time, especially after work between 5 – 8. Before and after those times, are pretty chill.
I love how they have 7 (2 are smith machines) squat racks! At least 1 is always open, which is a BIG plus for me. Another plus would be that their bathrooms are clean lol
They offer different classes held in their huge mirrored, stretching room, with the cycling bikes in there since they don’t have a separate cycling room. No towel service but they do have a kids area and personal trainers. The staff here are nice, haven’t experienced anyone rude yet, unlike 24 Hour, and they’re pretty helpful.

My one star has nothing to do with the facility itself. The gym is very clean and has many amenities that is a much better deal than Planet Fitness. For the same price, you get everything plus classes plus better equipment.
However, I have to knock this rating down to one star. I, like many others, am a resident of the East Bay but I work in San Francisco (Crunch management, you know where I am going with this). There are Crunch gyms conveniently placed throughout the Financial District.
When I signed up online, I used the San Lorenzo Crunch as my home gym. I was given 2 choices, Peak and Base. I chose Peak because it gave me the option to work out at «other essential Crunch gyms».
I was happy when I signed up. It’s a good price and hey, I can work out during my lunch break! A week after I signed up, I decided that it was a good time to try out my membership at the Crunch on New Montgomery in SF. I went in and was quickly informed that my membership does not work in any of the SF Crunch gyms. What? Huh? But, isn’t this an essential Crunch gym?
Nope. All of San Francisco Crunch gyms are «corporate» and not «Franchise». In reviewing the sign up process, nowhere on the website does it say the words «corporate» or «Franchise». Only Peak and Base. Basically, there’s no way of a customer of knowing that you can’t work out in San Francisco.
I went back to my office and called up the San Lorenzo Crunch gym. I quickly canceled my membership.
The membership I paid for was practically useless. The person at the gym suggested I cancel and sign up again but use a San Francisco gym as my home gym. Because, that’s not convoluted whatsoever. Why not have the option there in the first place?
Even more convoluted is the fact that the website does not make a distinction between what is a franchise, corporate or essential location. The way it is laid out, a location in SF is the same as a location in Danville as it is in San Lorenzo.
Frankly, if Crunch was a little more upfront, I would have gladly paid for an all locations membership.
So no thanks Crunch.
The bottom line is, for $ 10 it is a good gym to go to. Just know that if you want to work out at another Crunch, you may be in for a surprise.

Great customer service and an awesome deal for winter break when you’re just back in town for the holidays. Can’t beat a no strings monthly membership over the holidays. Clean and nicely run gym. A perfect alternative to 24. The manager, Brian, is more than willing to work with you, which is greatly appreciated.

For $ 10 a month, you really can’t beat Crunch’s price and service. I’ve been a member of many gyms including 24 and Planet Fitness, and for the value you really can’t go wrong.
Comparing Crunch to Planet Fitness, Crunch has all you need, unlike Planet Fitness. They’re 4 squat/​deadlift racks, as well as two bench press machines. Plenty of cardio machines and free weights to do your workouts.
I came back home from my University with a state of the art gym. In dire need to do something productive and keep fit over the one month break, my girlfriend and I decided to enroll at Crunch, as we believe that for the price, you’re definitely getting lots of value. Sure, it’s not as big as the 24 Super Sport in Union City, and sure it closes at 11, but it literally has all you need to get a good quality workout. The weights and gym equipment are clean. They’re not a lot of meat heads. The playlist is pretty hip.

I joined 3 months after this gym first opened and I must say it’s very average. There isn’t much light at this place and it feels very dark mainly because of the paint colors they chose. This place used to be an orchard supply store and it was huge but the gym is only half of the building. The equipment is more for beginners and it’s not bad for $ 9.95 a month. I used to have the peak membership which was $ 19.95 and if gave me access to the yoga classes and tanning, massage chair (there is only one). I was super excited to try out the yoga classes but later realized that it didn’t work for my schedule. I’m sure they will have more things added into this gym but since it is new I will give it a solid 3 stars.

Visiting from out of town and they totally hooked up me with a month pass for a great deal. Looking forward to getting my sweat on and the walk/​run there is an enjoyable distance. Perk!

I just signed up today and checked out the facilities. All equipment were nice, new and techy. For a 10 startup n 10 per month, you can’t ask for more. Came on the weekend, afternoon time, and there weren’t many people inside which was good for me. Plus it’s closer to where I live. I used to go to planet fitness on southland mall, I peronally like the planet fitness layout more but with worn out old equipment. Overall, I like the place, clean, good music, and fair number of people. Wish there were more paper tower, and trash station.

This gym is pretty awesome! For $ 10 a month, it’s a pretty good deal especially since they offer so many fitness classes. The classes include TRX, cardio kick boxing, zumba, etc!
The gym is very clean, has lots of cardio machines, and a weight area. I love their treadmill! You can customize a workout or click on the coach option! I usually customize my own for interval training.
My favorite class is TRX with Kim! She is so full of energy and says the right things to motivate you! I believe she’s only here on Wednesdays. I would definitely recommend her classes! Each class is 30 minutes long. I wish they were longer :(
Mornings are pretty busy, but I’m still able to get my workout in! Weekends are my favorite time to come because it’s not crowded at all! Yes, I know… who wants to workout on a weekend?! I DO!

My wife and I joined before it opened.
On our first visit we signed up for personal trainer to get us restarted into a gym.
We both have Krag and enjoy working with him.
The gym is very nice and clean and I am learning to use the machines and getting myself into better shape moving forward.
Would recommend this gym to anyone and we are happy to have a gym here in our village of San Lorenzo.

Brian contacted me and stated the 30 minute arrival only applies to those classes that are really popular such as Zumba. Yes, I have to get a pass for belly, butt and thighs and retro-​robotics but it’s really hassle free. Crunch has really impressed me with how quickly they respond to reviews. Brian is great! I recently arrived 30 minutes early for a Zumba (which now I see is a news since my pass read #56), I walked on the tread mill while I waited for class to start. 5 minutes before, the line began to form and it was pretty long. Zumba with Jennifer and George is really fun and intense. A great workout. For Zumba, I really see the need for passes. For the AM class, I can still arrive 10 minutes before class and find plenty of space! But I still get my pass!

Notes from a quick visit. Medium size facility. Low pressure, clear tour from the manager. Good selection of cardio machines. Reasonable supply of free weights and weight machines (new Star Tracs). Great price ($ 13 per month)! Adequate number of classes (several a day clustered around morning and evening slots). 7pm Zumba is very popular. Good showers and reasonable (slightly small) locker room. Easy parking.

My First Day at Crunch was today. I joined sight unseen. The gym is fine. I am sure if it’s crowded it will be hard to get a good work out in, we will see. The cardio machines look all brand new and up to date. I like that. My only complaint so far is I love the cardio kickbocking classes. I tried the Cardio Tai Box at 9am on Sunday. The teacher was not very experienced, if at all. I feel that if you are opening a new gym and trying to get new members please have experienced teachers to teach the classes. I walked out within 15 minutes. Not sure she ever taught a class before. It was not good at all!!! I hope this changes because the main reason why I joined was to do the classes, if possible, but this isn’t going to work out if they are all anything like this class.

It’s opening week, and the energy is everywhere. The awaiting was enough to keep the spark of anticipation strong. Crunch will fit great in this location of the first 3 days are indication of its presence. Happy to be going again. Bosu class was great. TRX class was a blast…

So far so good! I’ve been looking high and low for a gym with the high tech, interactive machines. So when I seen the treadmills I died and came back to life! ((((happy dance))) Finally!!! So that and the fact it really clean (only been open 2 days so I will update if that changes.) I give them 5 stars. If your into cardio this is the place for you!

My boyfriend and I went to Crunch Gym for the first time today and the older guy working the front desk around 9:30pm was extremely rude. All my boyfriend did was ask for his promotional items since he signed up online two months ago and didn’t get anything. The guy continuously told my boyfriend, «No way, you should have got something» and then completely ignored us. Honestly we don’t care about the freebies but at least be considerate considering it your grand opening. Plus it was truly offensive for me to witness my boyfriend being accused of lying. Then right afterwards, we witness him being rude to another client (estimated age in the 60s). He told the client three times without any concern that he wasn’t in the system. The client was offended and shouted back «Well that’s not my fault, that’s your fault!». Overall, I’m really disappointed with my first visit. The gym is nice and clean. But I wouldn’t want to continue going to this gym if my boyfriend’s integrity is going to be questioned every time something goes wrong (example: checking in).

We would also like to add that we are 24hr fitness members as well. Our ANNUAL membership is only $ 29. So the reason why customer service is important to us here is because this is just an extra gym membership we wanted to have. Why should I pay an extra $ 20 a month when I can just pay $ 29 a year at 24hr fitness. Or why should we pay that on top of our $ 1000+ MMA training membership. Would you if you were in our shoes? We are currently training for a Spartan Trifecta, so we thought it would be a good idea to have as much training access surrounding us. I’m going to continue trying out this gym, but customer service needs to be addressed.

Got to come in after joining over the weekend, a new gym and fresh platform to grow from. I am a 24 hour fitness member, but something new is refreshing. I have been shopping around for that second membership to use other then 24 hour fitness. With 24 hour fitness I get the convenience and at $ 50 bucks a year I can’t go wrong. So now that this place has opened up I can explore my options, and at $ 10 dollars s month that isn’t bad. Downfall is that I’m not able to go to all crunch gyms, and if I do I’ll still have to pay at a reduced rate. Still kinda cool and again I still have good old 24 to use also when traveling.
As for the equipment, this place is new fresh clean and well put together. The area is fairly large but doesn’t have a pool or basketball court. They have all the essentials, and numerous cardio equipment to choose from. The free weight area is decent with extra Dumbbells for each weight depending on what your range. The machines I found to be different and at times awkward in terms of set up and execution. Still got in a great workout and I’m fairly content with the layout and set up of all the areas. They offer quite a few classes that vary from fat burn to Pilates, and even some boot camp style classes. I came in at 9pm to gauge the crowd in hopes that it wouldn’t be too packed, and surprisingly I had a no nonsense, wait free experience. Best of all they offer free wifi, so I was able to listen to my favorite stations on my iPhone without using up data.
In all, the gym is small but packed with all the basics and a little extra. Glad I joined and now have a second membership to go off of depending where I am when I’m traveling or just need to put in work. Still early, so update to follow when some of the kinks are worked out and this gym is fully functional.
