Garlic Fries– 9⁄10 Must love garlic to love these fries. Nice a crunchy.

I was very happy with both the food and customer service. Had the pork schnitzel and some kind of fried potato balls, both were excellent. Also tried the beer sampler(not sure what they called it), the grapefruit one was my favorite.

If you’re in downtown SLO… stop in here for a bite and a pint. The atmosphere is great and the food runs right alongside the atmosphere. The ambiance is casual but sophisticated, which is the same for the menu. I ordered the Chicken Caesar salad and Tot Poppers. My salad was fresh, and full of flavor. The chicken was sliced and fresh off the grill, with steam still rising from it. Portion size was definitely plenty for a big guy like me. The only«meh» item was the poppers. Basically mashed potatoes, breaded, then fried. Not much to them. But, in looking at the rest of the menu there are a lot of great options to choose from. The beverage menu is no slouch either. If you have an inkling for a change of pace, stop in here. BTW… not just beer, but wine and ciders as well.

husband and I ate here while visiting the town in late October. We wanted a good beer and he– a burger– me– German food. We got the Reuben egg rolls as a starter and they were very good. They were light, crispy, not greasy and had a good amount of lean corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss– the dipping sauce was of course, thousand island dressing. We then ordered a burger and the pork schnitzel– burger good– fries fresh —the schnitzel was huge loaded with crispy browned Brussel sprouts, sauerkraut, fries and 2 large tender fried pork cutlets topped with brown gravy. Also forgot to mention the beer — good selection. Pleasant waitress and nice atmosphere — good decision! Came here with friends from out of town — this place was not first on our list, but was the only restaurant that didn’t have a wait. The reason for the two stars had to do with the following: –Lack of good customer service, we sat at our table at 7:45p, our waitress who we had to flag down finally took our orders at 8:10p. Mind you, I said we had to flag her down… if we didn’t she would have not come by to place our orders. –Food did not arrive at our table til 8:50p –Once the food arrived we were all pretty dissatisfied. fries were cold, burgers were overcooked… we all left with only half our plates eaten The restaurant wasn’t busy at all and they had a full wait staff and 3 ppl working the kitchen … we did notice that the tables around us were visibly upset at the lack of efficient service … not sure their take on the food . Overall the experience was negative. my husband and I are regular diners in downtown SLO and we have passed by this place a few times … unfortunately our first experience left a negative impression with us.

Short staffed, unorganized, took over an hour to get our food. I don’t blame the staff. I blame the ownership. The Chicken in the sandwich was pretty good but the garnish and the cheap hamburger buns brought it down. Not to mention the ridiculous theme park costumes. décor and lighting was a misstep. No thanks!

Small selection on menu, all items very similar! Very good beer selection from around the world! Waited forevvvver for our waitress to come over initially to take our order. Food was good, nothing spectacular. Ordered the wooly burger, onions were good, burger slightly over cooked.

Excellent dining experience. Our waitress was very kind, attentive, and knowledgable of their food and drinks. I would definitely recommend sitting outside if possible. It’s perfect for people watching.

This place is a charming German fusion restaurant that was a pleasant surprise when my parents and I visited SLO last week. They don’t have as many beers on tap as I’m used to from a German place, but the ones they do have are all excellent choices. Since they don’t serve traditional German food, most of the stuff on the menu has a lot of non-standard toppings. I had a bratwurst, which was pretty good but nothing spectacular. The ‘German’ potato salad was good, but basically tasted like scalloped potatoes(which is fine with me because I don’t like potato salads anyway). The fried Brussels Sprouts were fantastic, the sauerkraut was decent as well. My mom had the Schnitzel and liked it, though she wasn’t a fan of the potatoes. My dad was the most disappointed with a Pastrami Reuben, which he said didn’t really taste much like a Reuben and as a sandwich was unremarkable for the price. He also didn’t care for the bland potatoes on the side. Overall, I’d go back to try some of their other offerings. It wasn’t mind-blowing, but is good enough for a repeat visit.

Anneke is fantastic and did a great job in taking good care of us. We are new to the place and she was pleasant and patient with a pretty smile! We ordered pineapple salad and cardinals chicken sandwich. Both are very excellent and delicious. Good job Mamali, Jason and the chef! We are coming back for sure…

Super-Friendly Excellent Service ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ in combo with an interesting take on «Fusion Ameri-German» eats! My server was so genuinely friendly & happy to be alive that she was enough to get me out of my afterwork slump… which is quite amazing in itself. She was probably one of the most happy intelligent human beings I have ever meet & part German, as well as, one of the rarest of Cal-Poly Students that actually gave a damn about customer service in downtown SLO. This was likely the first time that the pleasure of some kind interesting conversation with both her & the hostess, really made eating here a pleasure. Such nice people! Management is a genius at having found & hiring such great staff. Anyway, on to the food. I had read about this new place in the local SLO paper & was eager to try the most authentic German-type foods that they had.
I started off with the Wurst/Mustard appetizer, which while the sausage was quite yummy(& non-fatty) & the mustards are interesting… I would rather have less mustard & maybe some hot pretzels or even more Wurst. Due to a slight misunderstanding that I still wanted a big Schnitzel platter, it actually came a comfortable time later as I relaxed & people watched out the front window. The Schnitzel was on the small side & the mushroom sauce could have been more, but it was still quite good. On the American scale, it was very good, but on the Authentic German one, it was just OK. The sides(like the Kraut) were good, but the Charbroiled Brussel Sprouts had too much char for my taste, & I would have rather had something else as a veggie(e.g. Pickled Beets?). Anyway, even thought the food was more on the 3 – 4 star scale, the amazingly nice conversations with some of the super-cheery staff really made my day. I went in rather depressed & somewhat miserable about the«human-condition» & somehow due to both the wondrous staff & good food, I later walked out in a far better mood… I then really cherished the presence of the few really good & kind hearted people that are in this world. But like the Buddhists say, «treat everyone like they are a Buddha». —-and after eating all that I consumed… I also looked more like one. Oh, BTW… do not be shy you Americans… try the German dishes, dumb dumbs you can get a ordinary American Food elsewhere. It is also great to support this local ethnic endeavor that is not a chain(yet).

Attentive service straight from the get-go. A great sign! Our friendly server, Ana, explained the German beers before we ordered which was nice — they tasted just like she described. Nothing is better than an informed wait staff. I ordered the Jäger Shnitzel which came with brussel sprouts, German potato salad, sauerkraut, and mushroom gravy. All I can say is that it was authentic and on point — great execution and wonderful presentation. The best brussel sprouts were the best I’ve ever had. I’m happy with this establishment! Would most certainly come back for dinner.

The interior is huge after walking in past the bar. Just keep walking and a whole new room opens up in the rear and it’s awesome! I came in for lunch right after they opened and the place was still quite and the service was really friendly. I got some fresh brewed black iced tea which hit the spot. I ordered the schnitzel, and boy oh boy was that a good choice. I think in truth I could have eaten the sauerkraut all by itself(I did) as a meal. It was so good. The brussel sprouts were grilled and just so so good. And the schnitzel?! Oh man. Can I eat that every day? I wish. Come check this spot out. Quality, authentic German food and great service. Don’t let the people walking causally by make you miss this spot… it’s goooood.

I read a lot of great things about the place and the food was good, but it took forever to get our order served. The management obviously is trying to keep overhead down at the cost towards the clients time. Too bad. Maybe hire more help?

The food here is VERY good. A total departure from the norm of what is available in San Luis, but completely worth a taste. The service has always been prompt and friendly. Garlic fries are a great starter, and the pastrami burger is really good. My hubby likes to get the brats. The beer menu looks amazing! My husband indulges and says the ones he has tried are all VERY good. Cool décor, reasonable prices, tasty food, attentive service. Win win.

I so want to give this place a higher review. The food was good, but our service wasn’t. Arrived on a Tuesday night around 7:30 with almost no one else in the restaurant. A few parties came in after us and all received their beer and food before us. We didn’t receive our food until after 9:20. Our waitress was very apologetic, but it was really a cluster. We had a large party, but it isn’t ok to make customers wait that long. We didn’t get out of there until almost 10:30 because it took a while for them to get checks to us as well. The food itself was decemt. I shared a pretzel and mustard appetizer that was delicious. The chicken and artichoke salad was good, all of the brats were good too. The potatoes came out cold but would have been great if they were warm. It’s a new place, so I’m hoping they can coordinate and manage their servers, staff, and kitchen better. I’ll be sure to update my review if I go again but it’s not likely I’ll go back unless I’m with a party that wants to.
