We purchased a cake for our sons 7th birthday. After getting quoted and looking around Honeybee Cakery is the only one who knew what our theme was. So we felt it was best to go with her. We never had a consultation and did our order entirely through Facebook so it’s my fault for not looking at her work in person and going by photos alone(she posted a photo of our cake online and you can barely see any flaws in the photo) My parents picked up the cake and right away texted me a picture because it not being in a box you could obviously see something was wrong. I was just decorating so I never had a chance to look at my phone until they arrived. Right away I saw it, the cake was«lumpy» and the fondant was stretching. I also should note it was not a hot day, it was actually pretty chilly so the sun didn’t melt it. I freaked out a bit and right away I messaged and noted the problem and asked how I could fix this since guests were arriving soon. Right away I got the blame game, «It wasn’t lumpy when I gave it to the gentleman» «Did someone grab it, it looks like a handprint.» Nobody touched the cake up until when she told me to smoothie the fondant upwards. Which still didn’t work. When it came time to cut the cake it literally fell apart. Almost mushy like. We ordered Black Forest cake and we get that it will be more«moist» then most cakes, but this was way more than that. Everyone kept asking if it was layered with pudding. Nothing stayed solid, we scooped it like pudding towards the end. I do think that might have had something to do with the fondant issue. I think the cake was caving in or something. Now It wasn’t all bad, I do want to say the flavor of the cake was pretty good(despite the mess it looked like on the plate) and the fondant characters on our cake rocked.

I have called 3 times, left 3 messages and still got no replies. I have messaged them and keep getting an error box. I don’t doubt their cakes aren’t delicious, but what kind of business makes it impossible and soooo inconvenient that you are so unable to get in contact with them?! Driving 3 hours for a surprise party and I want to pick up their cake along the way cause it would be much more convenient… Irrititating. Definitely taking my business elsewhere.

Honeybee Cakery is where you want to go when you truly want something incredible. I mean next level, ace of cakes, something you see off TV. Liz is big market and next level material. Not only is her creativity unmatched in what she can accomplish, but taste is never compromised as each bite is better than the last. Two years ago, she made a cake for my birthday that was one of a kind. It was a wine barrel that not only looked and tasted amazing, but it had a lever that actually dispensed wine. I had no clue how she could tip that. A few weeks ago she made a cake that was modeled and inspired after my yellow lab opened our fridge, inspiring a viral video. The cake showed incredible detail, had a working light in the fridge, and again, tasted great! If you want any kind of desert catering, she’s perfect. If you have something special, something that you need a cake guru/artist/whisperer to tackle, no matter how out of the box, if it’s possible, Liz and Honeybee Cakery will kill it. Mic drop. Out.
