Great bagels! But had to take off 2 stars for the slow and inattentive service. The employees focused on making bagels and got 3 – 4 orders out before even acknowledging us.

Amazing bagels. I got just a specialty bagel without any«hats» but I wish I had gotten the green hat(seems to be a popular one). Service was friendly, bagel was super yummy, and time of service was pretty prompt for how packed it was.

What a great little spot just down the street from the Madonna Inn. We stopped by on a Sunday morning, prepared for a wait based on the Unilocal tips here. And Unilocal once again was spot on — the service was slow, but the friendly gentleman working the counter explained that he was short-staffed and that it was an unusually busy morning due to the graduations from Cal Poly that weekend. And the wait was totally worth it. Despite coming in for bagels, the bf and I both ended up getting sandwiches and they were delicious. I got the California sandwich with roasted turkey, avocado, bacon and provolone on a tomato provolone bagel(I definitely wasn’t getting out of there without a bagel in some form!) while he got the roast beef on ciabatta. Both were great sandwiches and mine was so messy I eventually gave up on trying to keep it together. It was the perfect prelude to a walk down DTSLO, which helped to burn off some of those calories. Can recommend this place, but be prepared to wait!

The wait time is ridiculous I hope the food is good And the time of waiting is worth it… Manager/owner fix the problem you need more employees you have only two workers preparing the food

I was craving some breakfast food and found this place on Unilocal while in SLO. Their reviews looked good, especially the pictures of the sandwiches, so I decided to try it out. If I had known that it would take over 20 minutes to get my bagels, I would have gone somewhere else. By the time I left the place it was lunch time! I ordered the green hat and salsa hat bagel because I love jalapenos, so I thought it would be delicious. I also ordered a peach ice tea. After awkwardly standing there for 10 minutes, the girl behind the counter said that they were out of peach syrup. I just asked for whatever else they had(passion fruit was the only other one that they had.) What killed me was how slow they were working. There were 4 employees but I just did not understand what the lag was. How difficult is it to slice a bagel, smear some cream cheese, and add avocados and salsa on it? The longer it took, the more discouraged I became that I would ever leave this place before noon. But finally the moment arrived and I received my bagels. Once I sat down at home to eat, I noticed the crazy amount of salsa that was poured onto the bagel. I was worried for little bagel, because I wasn’t sure it could support all of the salsa that was piled on it. My worries were confirmed when I tried to pick up the bagel and everything slipped off. The only thing left was the cream cheese and half a tomato. The other thing with their bagels is the amount of cream cheese they put on it. They lay it on so thick, that you don’t even taste your bagel and it kinda killed it for me. The green hat bagel was better because it was just avocados and cream cheese(the simpler the better I suppose with bagels). I’m not sure if I’d come back here. I definelty would want to try other things on their menu, however I don’t want to waste 20 minutes of my life waiting for a bagel.(I’ve said bagel way too many times in this review, sorry. lol)

House of bagels is amazing! Thank you to Unilocal for helping my wife and I find this hidden gem. They have as what I would call«gourmet» bagels for breakfast with all different toppings and flavored cream cheeses or what they call schmears. They also have plain bagels and schmears, but as mentioned, tons of different flavors! You also get to choose from a variety of bagel types as well. My wife got the green hat bagel and I got the egg cheese and meat bagel. Both were excellent. The green hat even looked so good someone who walked in saw it and asked my wife which that one was so he could get it! This place reminded me of my college days in Santa Barbara when I would go to a place called bagel café for breakfast a lot. House of bagels is equally as good and it’s great to once again be able to get fresh quality bagel breakfasts here in SLO. I would highly recommend stopping here for breakfast, even though it’s a bit outside the more popular downtown area, don’t miss out on house of bagels. Signing off, Bretzlaf

Ok, so the food is pretty good. BUT it takes so long, I’m talking at least 30 minutes from the time you walk in the door, until you are actually walking back to your car. I have tried going at different times, thinking maybe it’s just the lunch rush, or the weekend hangover rush. But it doesn’t matter what time or day, if there’s a line or not. I never order anything special or modify my order so I just don’t understand why they take so long! I typically get a turkey sandwich and a mocha and it’s always the same amount of time wasted. Plus it’s pricey, so it’s just not worth the long wait. If they could get a better system down I’d go back. I’ve tried too many times to even count so I give up.

This place is great! There are so many options, it’s reasonably priced and great for breakfast or lunch. We tried the ghost pepper cheese which was so tasty and spicy. It was my first time coming here and I will definitely come back. Really nice, friendly staff as well.

Good bagels, but I have had better. I think this is one of the only bagel shops in SLO. The everything bagel was good — lots of poppy seeds. Cream cheese was plentiful.

House of Bagels is one of the only bagel places in SLO. Their bagels are good and you can get sandwiches(breakfast and lunch) made with the bagels. There are several options for what you want on your sandwich. I do have a complaint about House of Bagels… They are VERYSLOW. The line takes a while then you wait quite a while for your bagel. Also, some of the younger people that work there don’t seem to have the greatest customer service. I ordered through Eat24(you can order online and pay, then go pick up at House of Bagels). I went to get my bagel and stood by the counter for a long time before the young girl behind the counter acknowledged me. That being said, the owners are great and the food is good. I will go back but only when I have time to spare.

I love that there is ONELASTPLACE left on earth. A real MOM and POP owned breakfast eatery. NOCATSUP! I love that they don’t serve one million variations of hot sauce and sugar infused catsup. The eggs are blended in an old fashion milk shake machine, eggs are cracked right there. I love that MOM doesn’t take any GUFF! If you are impatient, or too cute, mom will say, «Just wait a minute, I’ll be right there with your coffee.» Don’t bring your cell phone. The sign on the wall says something like, :Be considerate of the person next to you. Don’t talk on your phone. This IS the last place on earth; real newspapers, real food, a dutch door, a breeze. I am going BACK on SUNDAY fro sure!

The other day I was craving a bagel which I had not had since moving back to CA from CT. I Unilocaled bagel shop and te House of Bagels came up. I used to go to the original one in SF run by Russians. Later I visited other Bay Area locations, mostly run by Asians with excellent product and quick, efficient service. So I decided to visit this location. We ordered two bagels with cream cheese to go and two coffees. Although it was not that busy it took a while for us to get our bagels. Out of three different coffees, the light and dark roasts were out. Only decaf was left. Also, the soda machine was out of ice. When I mentioned the coffee to the girl behind the counter, she just stared at me like a dear caught in headlights. No I’m sorry or anything. I was quite disappointed. The bagels were ok, certainly better than Noah’s, but not up to par with a typical House of Bagels bagel.

Food is good but this place is constantly understaffed. I have been coming here for years and it hasn’t gotten any better. I just waited 30 minutes for a pickup order I placed online. Management needs to have at least 4 people working up front when busy. Typically there are only 2 or 3.

Walked in this morning while waiting for my tires to be rotated, thought I’d enjoy a pleasant breakfast while it was being done. I looked up at the menu, and gazing down at me was this description: Eggs & Hotties This is our number one seller for a reason. Choose your traditional water boiled bagel and let us put the combo down of scrambled egg, pepper jack, jalapeño’s, hot sauce and sausage. Oh yeah, the hotness is on! More Hotness, ask for Pepper Ghost Cheese. It. Sounds. Amazing. Approximately seven dollars later, i sat down to wait for my delectable meal, which arrived a timely fifteen minutes later. That was sarcasm. At any rate, fifteen minutes later and my food comes out, and how is it? Well, l will have to tell you the next time since what came out was a bagel with egg and cheese. The end. I walked back to the counter, presented it to the person who made it, and asked, «I thought this was supposed to have sausage and other things on it?». The person replied, «I’ll fix it». I went and sat back down. What came back was a bagel with egg and cheese… And a sausage patty. Very disappointing. The food itself was fine, the cashier(manager?) was friendly, but messing up an order… twice… Is sort of a bummer.

I love this place. The bagels are delicious and I make it a point to go by any time I am in SLO. The only thing that would make it better is if they used ripe tomatoes! My favorite is the Red Hat, but it’s should be called a Pink Hat because I always get these pink, mealy tomatoes.

Stopped in for breakfast at this local bagel shop. The place was busy and the menu impressive. This was a great find. The bagels were fresh and far better than the more commercial bagel places. We all loved our various breakfast sandwiches. The staff was very busy yet pleasant. When it slowed down the owner even came by our outdoor table to see how we were doing. The best part was 7 sandwiches and two large smoothies was $ 43! The kids will frequent this place and we will each time we visit.

I’ve been coming here for years… Recently I’ve noticed that there quality of their food has gone down. Yesterday I ordered online to pick up… They same thing I always get… When I got home with my food… I was extremely disappointed. They egg wasn’t cooked all these way, there was no salt, pepper. Or any flavor at all. And then bagel was saturated in grease(maybe butter… I couldn’t tell) I had 3 bites and couldn’t ear there rest. I’m sad to say what once was my favorite bagel place… I will probably never go to again.

For the food, I’ll give a 5. The service, a 1. They’ve got my order wrong ¾ times that I’ve been there. I want to support the local businesses, but not being able to get simple bagel orders right is just ridiculous.

I live down in the 5 cities area and you’re hard-pressed to get a good bagel around there so I was happy to find Hobags. And the nickname! How can you fail to impress? Personally, I enjoy getting my stink on w/a garlic bagel, lox, onions, capers, I love the recent review from the guy who compliments them on their authentic Jewish bagels and then describes enjoying the bacon, egg, cheese, and sausage bagel. I’m not even Jewish and that was funny!

Everyone liked their food. I like the wheat options. One thought. When you order a sliced/toasted bagel, with whatever on it, keep it together to keep it hot. Makes it extra good

The ONLY place to get a(somewhat) authentic Jewish bagel on the Central Coast. A little on the thin side for my liking but the breakfast sandwich I got there was outstanding. Bacon, eggs, cheese, and sausage. On an everything bagel. It was tasty! Maybe a little pricey on some items, but for a once in a while Jew treat, go here! EINSTEINSBAGELSISABSOLUTETRASH. Reading the reviews can be scary for this place. I do like the check in offer and got my free soda. Pretty friendly place and fairly clean. The menu is long and confusing so be ready for reading and asking lots of questions. Little slow on the service. Now for the food!!! I got a Italian Franco sub $ 8.25 and wasn’t impressed. I don’t get selling sub sandwiches right next to a sub sandwich place. 3 stars are about if for this place. Good service lousy food. Yikes.

I always seem to forget about this place only to rediscover it over and over. And each time I shame myself for not having gone more often. The inside is simple and efficient. The staff always smile and work hard to get order out quickly. Which can be tough on a Saturday morning. But despite the lines and wait time they never waiver or freak out. The bagels are fantastic. Fresh and warm. So many varieties to choose from and I’ve never had a bad one. The schmear options vary on a daily basis for what’s available behind the counter and they sell even more packaged. All good. They have breakfast bagel sandwich choices that are perfect for SLO and classics you’d expect too. I keep meaning to come here for luck too as they have good lunch sandwich options too. If you have not hit this spot up yet… do.

Love their bagels! Always fresh and delicious. Downside is the wait is usually longer than I want due to everyone loving on this place but worth it. If you go early in the morning they usually have a bag of 6 day old bagels for $ 4! What a steal! My favorite is the onion bagel with sausage, pepper jack and egg for about $ 6.50 its delicious, hot and melty gooyness

Lemon Pepper!!! So on my way to a meeting grabbed a green hat bagel and a coffee to go… but it totally stopped me in my tracks because of the killer flavor on the first bite. I decided to take the time to enjoy my jalapeño bagel toasted topped with plain schmear, avocado, and sprinkled with lemon pepper. And the coffee is from a local roaster and it you can tell that there was something special about it. What a great way to start the day!

My boyfriend and I regularly come to «HoBags» for breakfast. They have a large variety of spreads, bagel flavors, and sandwiches. You can even make your own sandwich if nothing tickles your fancy. If bagels aren’t your thing they have smoothies and boba and cookies and coffee. Their bagels have never disappointed me though so I haven’t tried any of those. Sometimes this place can get crowded because it’s a little small but I always find that it’s worth the wait.
