I stopped in here for a consultation with my wedding planner on Saturday, and it was delightful. Surprisingly spacious, with tables and chairs galore. The noise level was such that I think one could study without interruption. The coffee and bagel I had were great, service, was friendly. Bonus that there’s pretty artwork on the walls.

Excellent. Superb tea selection, accommodating staff, lovely environment. A tea drinker could not ask for more!

Huge fan of this coffee shop/art gallery. You walk in and can enjoy beautiful art pieces while enjoying a coffee or beverage of choice. Today I ordered a hot chocolate. It was delicious and served in a beautiful mug. On the weekends they often have music. It is a fun place to visit when in SLO. Stop in!

I order an iced Maui Mocha. They forgot the Maui… and the espresso. Basically, I was drinking an overpriced chocolate milk that wouldn’t even pass the Nesquick bunny’s standards.

This is a great place to start the day. It never feels crowded, the coffee is great and the girls at the counter are super friendly. The offer a large menu with all different types of bagels etc.

This was always such a great place to study. There’s plenty of seating, a nice open floor plan so it never felt too crowded or stuffy. The food, drinks, and pastries are all pretty good. The art is always a treat to look at. I do wish I had had a chance to attend one of the events they held here, but perhaps in the future!

Love steynberg for its relaxing atmosphere… Perfect for a productive study spot or place to catch up with a friend. The coffee is also incredible and the girls working there always take your order with a smile. The art displayed is always changing. Asked for a blended peppermint mocha and got the best drink I have ever had. Also love their white chocolate mocha for a colder day. I’ll be back, again and again and again!:)

When we arrived in San Luis Obispo for our first day of vacation in this city. It was early in the morning and most of the coffee shops had not opened yet. Then I remembered that my uncle always goes to the Steynberg Gallery every morning like a ritual. It was still too early to wake him up yet and we just couldn’t wait that long! After a long drive, we had to have our breakfasts and coffee now! Fortunately, by the time we reached this place, they were just unlocking their door. There is a nice variety of foods to choose from on the wall menu along with the numerous selections of beverages, coffees, and teas. I ordered the Sweet Sunday Bagel and a Maui Mocha. I guess since we were the first customers there they weren’t quite ready for us, so it took somewhat of a wait for my bagel to be prepared. But it was well worth the wait! I never could have imagined how delicious a bagel could be! It was toasted open face, then cream cheese spread on top. Followed by slices of apple, chunks of walnuts, sprinkled with cinnamon, and then drizzled with honey. It was very tasty and mouth watering! My Maui Mocha was a hot coffee with mocha and coconut flavors added. A very delicious breakfast combo! This coffee house is also an art gallery that displays quite a few interesting paintings along its walls with their asking prices. While this shop looks small from the outside, the inside is very spacious and can accommodate a large crowd. They also have a place sectioned off where live music is performed on certain nights. The coffee, the food, and the staff, made our morning visit a highlight of my vacation. I could really use a lot more of these!

Food is ok, atmosphere interesting… Decent coffee. There’s about 20 places I would go first. I think Ive made my last trip in due to work proximity.

Spectacular in their incompetence. Saturday morning, 9:00 am, the line only has a few people in it, yet the two goofballs that are working are already in the weeds. They cannot handle even a normal line! Good thing there was no rush. Blessed with both a bad attitude and short-term memory loss, these two art school rejects should never have been put into any position facing the public. They dropped orders, could not multitask in the slightest and were slower than molasses. The saving grace is that the pastries and coffee are of high quality(as is the venue), but the two nincompoops attempting to serve the public there need to go somewhere where their snarky attitudes are more appreciated.

I didn’t get into the coffee, but the oatmeal is really filling and the blueberry muffin is a good choice. The place has a fairly organic feel and the art makes it interesting.

Love going to this place when I can. The vibe is very relaxing and mellow. Great place to get work done, since phones aren’t allowed. The Frida bowl is my favorite and their white hot chocolate is amazing! They’re prices are decent considering it’s fair trade. Will definitely be paying a visit soon.

Spacious place, relaxing, lots of options, a lil pricy but the small art gallery makes up for it.

I ordered a cappuccino. It was topped with thick foam and no trace of coffee taste. You are better of to get it from lousy hotel coffee. It was made by someone not knowing how to make cappuccino, unlike one of the pictures posted here, which was taken from work by a professional. Very disappointed.

Stopped here on Saturday afternoon for a cup of tea. Hardly anyone in the place and it’s no wonder since the young woman behind the counter acted like it was an interruption and inconvenience to help or make the cup of tea I ordered. When she did make it, she overfilled the cup with water so it spilled when she handed it me, and the tea was very weak. All this and the cup of tea cost $ 3. Maybe the music and other events they host are worthwhile, but if you want friendly service and a good cup of tea at a decent price, go somewhere else.

My favorite place to get work done. Usually quite, rotating art is nice, and I really like their chai tea latte. They even remade it for me once when it tasted different than usual. Courteous staff and I never have a problem parking.

This is a great local coffee house that supports local events. I went to a free poetry reading recently that was well received. Large space. I would have spent more time outside but it wasn’t quite as garden like as I would have preferred. I really enjoyed their chai lattes and my girlfriend got a pastry that was to die for. I’ll be coming back soon.

This place in wonderful. Really wonderful. If you are on the north end of town this is the place. Good, no great, coffee. The shop is a wonderful place to meet others and be surrounded by art. The art continues to be changed out every month of so, and the evening events, sometimes art openings, sometimes concerts have always been extremely enjoyable. I love to support this establishment.

Terrible service. Read on… Parked outside on a Thursday night. The Open sign was turned on and at least three other signs were on and it looked very inviting. So we walked inside. The place had 30 or move people, but when we walked up to the corner we were told they were closed. We must have looked startled since there were a ton of people. We asked, «What about everyone here?» «Well, we are only open for their event» HUH? Then why is your Open sign turned on? We asked if we should turn the open sign off and were rudely told«No, we are open for them.» What’s the point of being open for a private event, yet still having your open signs up and then when people walk in you are rude to them?

This wonderful coffee spot is a favorite of my girl friend’s uncle. We recently visited SLO to help him celebrate his 80th birthday and he has this daily ritual of walking his dogs to Steynberg Gallery for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat every morning. We were given the honor of accompanying him on his morning ritual one fine morning during our stay. A ritual that I must admit turned out to be a very nice experience. The barristas were extremely friendly and helpful. The art on the walls was worth checking out and the food and coffee were really good. I had a wonderful Latte with just a touch of hazelnut syrup and a lemon poppyseed scone. They put just the right amount of hazelnut syrup in my latte to taste the hazelnut without my coffee being unbearably sweet. Steynberg Gallery is much larger inside than it looks from the outside with plenty of seating and plenty of room to move. The walk wasn’t too bad either.
