Great wine and great service. Beautiful day to sit out on the patio and enjoy the view with delicious wine.

Tolosa winery was sold several months ago. They have raised their tasting fees to $ 20. They have discontinued their legacy discounts to long-term wine club members. They have discontinued marketing midpriced wines but most disappointing is their sense of community and great pick up parties are thing of the past. I truly hope that this trend of corporate buyouts of mom-and-pop wineries in San Luis Obispo County will be limited in scope. Look to Justin winery and their scorched earth corporate philosophy as a model which San Luis Obispo County does not need. Tolosa wines have historically been great. Let’s see what happens when the wine in the barrel runs out and this corporation needs to attempt to maintain their once high standard. Membership club canceled, good luck making San Luis Obispo the NAPA of the Central Coast.

Usually a fan until we were served by the manager of the tasting room. I was not treated equal, and the service was very inattentive. She offered others off menu wines and told them stories and offered insight and background into each wine with a smile. When she poured us our wine she stated the name and vintage with apathetic attitude and a droll demeanour. This place values sales over customer service. If you don’t look like you are going to buy 3 cases, you won’t be treated very kindly. I like San Luis obispo because of the friendly and family vibe you get from the smaller wineries. They treat you with respect and and are happy and interested you are there. Tolosa used to care about their customers, but now all they care about is maximing profit. Tolosa reminds me of when Tommie Johnson sold his soul to the devil to play guitar, but the devil has created a corporate money hungry greed machine. Their wine and customer service has lost their soul. Don’t give your money to the devil. Support small local wineries.

Over Easter weekend, we set up a wine tasting for eight family members at Tolosa. We have always enjoyed their Chardonnay’s, especially the unoaked versions. The concierge set us up on a large table in a very serene area outside the tasting room. Everything was first class, and our wine consultant was outstanding. The pours were generous, and the timing of the intervals was perfect. In fact, we enjoyed the tasting so much that we joined the wine club. In May, we went to our first no charge Club event, the May pickup party in which you enjoy tastings and snacks with other club members. There was music, and the staff went out of its way to assure that everyone was enjoying themselves. We met a very nice couple from Arroyo Grande and hung out with them for the day. We also saw the concierge again who set up our Easter tasting and enjoyed chatting with her. The bottom line is that Tolosa is a class winery with some of the best Chardonnay’s in the Edna Valley region. We also purchased a 2014 Pinot Noir Blanc which I would describe being right in the middle of a Sauvignon Blanc and a Chardonnay. The wines at Tolosa are of excellent quality and fairly priced; a five star overall experience.

High priced not great wines. Really disappointed. The servers were not very friendly, more concerned with getting you to purchase a bottle or a membership. We liked their cab but the price was $ 2.00 short of giving us a free tasting. Seriously not worth $ 20. tasting fee. Ive had comparable wines from grocery outlet.

My brother and his wife came to visit us in Avila Beach and it was raining so we decided to go to Tolosa winery. We had no idea that we were in for a phenomenal experience from the moment we greeted at the door and guided to our table. Elizabeth was so nice as she hosted for the next two hours. Of course we became members after tasting some of the nicest Chards and Pinots. If you are ever in the San Luis Obispo area, you need to visit Tolosa Winery in the Edna Valley. You will be very pleased with the people and the views.

Our last stop of the day in Edna Valley. This place is small, clean and sleek inside. The server was gracious and knowledgeable. The wines were okay and they allow a fee to be waived if you spend $ 50. They do have $ 65 wine options so one bottle would suffice. They do have a patio but it was being used for a private party. DRATS!

Unfortunately I can’t comment on the quality of their wine as we were turned down entry by 3 ladies with the fakest smiles you have ever seen. A couple weeks back we rented a limo for a birthday and 10 of us went wine tasting for the day… Every winery we went to had open arms and opened tasting rooms except for Tolosa… We all walked up to the tasting room entrance to be greeted by 3 of the fakest trying to be nice women who said«sorry we are at capacity, but if you want to make an appointment tomorrow we will give you complimentary tasting tomorrow.» All this with 3 cars in their parking lot which should have been a red flag… 2 problems here… 1: Why couldn’t the 3 women go inside and get to work and pour some tastings and 2: why would we rent a limo again the following day as obviously we were out that! Obviously they know this so the offer was just as fake as they were! Must be nice to have so much business you can turn it away at the blink of an eye I will never go here and unless you make an appointment if there is more than 2 cars in their parking lot I would not recommend you do either. Unless you walk around with your nose in the air like they do that is… Too snooty for me… Way more enjoyable wineries to visit.

We ended up getting a wine tasting on a rainy Saturday afternoon. We were pretty much the only customers when we first arrived, so we got to ask a lot of questions about the winery, recommendations of other wineries in the area, and history. The staff was really knowledgeable and enthusiastic about wine and the process, and it made a huge difference. Would definitely recommend in terms of wineries in the area! Also, several locals mentioned that they were members of Tolosa — sounds like its a great place for locals in terms of events in the area. Always a great sign to go where the locals go!

My boyfriend and I went here with some friends in the industry that we were visiting over New Years weekend. They were going to enjoy a bottle(or three) outside, and my boyfriend and I took advantage of the free tastings that they got(there is generally a tasting fee). Can we take a minute to acknowledge their pure chardonnay? One of the best chardonnays I’ve ever had. I hesitate to take a chardonnay to visit friends because the wine and peoples’ preference vary so vastly. I suspect that this is the everyone-chardonnay, in that it is so pure that I think everyone would enjoy it – whether they prefer their chardonnay buttery or zesty. Their reds were phenomenal, although generally above my price-point(I think they had mostly the good-stuff out), and I did splurge on an expensive bottle of my favorite to tuck away for a special occasion. Both the indoor and outdoor areas were gorgeous, and it had a very relaxed vibe. The girls working were very knowledgeable in the wine and gave us a great experience. We weren’t really planning on stopping by but I’m definitely glad we did!

All points off are for extremely bad business practices. Please note, we were totally happy with our tasting experience. Kelsey took excellent care of us from start to finish. Her knowledge and attitude were the standard that I would strive for in a staff. They even welcomed our small dog!(Dogs ok if on leash. If it’s a nice day hit the patio for your tasting!) The wine selections were hit or miss but that’s the whole point of wine tasting. Not everything appeals to everyone. Here’s where points start coming off. Our tasting was $ 15 each, which is waived with the purchase of 2 bottles(acceptable enough on the surface). How much do they want to charge for each bottle? Well over TWICE the amount you’d pay at most retailers. This is a completely backwards and downright STUPID business practice. You have just started a personal relationship with a consumer. You have an opportunity to create a lifelong brand loyal customer. What you DON’T do is price gouge. It costs the winery the least amount of money to sell a bottle. There’s no transport or shipping costs when bought at the source. WHY would you slap your brand new customer in the face. Whoever the operations manager is should be immediately fired.

Beautiful, modern winery with delightfully delicious pinot noirs! The tasting room and outdoor patio is great and the staff is very knowledgable about their product. John is a gem and knows his wines and gives great tips on food pairings with wines. They are dog friendly! They also have a nice private room for tastings for members to enjoy. From time to time, they offer a limited beautiful bottle of wine just for members. Highly recommend becoming a member of this wine club especially if you are from the area. They have pick up parties which seem like a fun idea.

15 bucks for 4 tastes– 2 whites/2 reds. Tasting fees waived with purchase of 2 bottles(bottles cost approx 50 – 60 bucks). Uh, there’s plenty of other excellent options around SLO. These guys think they’re in Napa or something.

Solid four stars for the ambiance and environment — gorgeous grounds and architecture. There are several outdoor areas for you to picnic, play, or wine taste in. The wine was decent, but I did not find the staff particularly knowledgable or forthcoming about the wine.

So this was our very first wine tasting! We thoroughly enjoyed the experience! We did the wine tasting in the Heritage room which came highly recommended from other Unilocal users and it was totally worth it we had for wines with cheese plate… We also had John… and he basically gave us the wine 101 discussion which was informative and fun we laughed we had such a good time this is such an amazing place! Definitely worth the trip! We chose the private wine tasting room because it had comfortable seats and just an incredible view of the vineyards and the mountains and it seemed to be a little bit more relaxing than the standard wine room.

Nice pinots! Tasting room is nicely done. They have special cheese and wine tasting on weekends only. We will have to go back for that one. The staff was very welcoming and courteous. I will return.

Extremely beautiful winery. We enjoyed Pinot noir and Viognier. They opened the bottle we bought so we could sit at the patio and enjoy the scenery. They also had windows peeking into the fermentation room which I thought was super cool!

Stopped here on the way to San Luis Obispo. The tasting room is very nice and modern and the outside area is gorgeous. However it’s overpriced in my opinion. You get small pours for the tasting and we paid over $ 30 for a bottle of Chardonnay. You can bring your own food but you have to sit further away from the building. We made our own cheese plate and had a little picnic. The best part of Tolosa is probably the surrounding scenery.
