First and last time at Chan’s. We moved and now live directly between Chin’s in Vista and Chan’s in San Marcos. We love Chin’s in Vista, but Chan’s has easy freeway access so we decided to give it a try. Upon arrival I told the woman this was our first time at this restaurant and that we normally go to Chin’s. When paying for the order I «presented» the 15% off coupon I found online by showing it on my phone. She said the coupon needed to be printed. I pointed out that it didn’t state that anywhere on the coupon. She didn’t care. Rang me up at full price and didn’t seem to care that I wasn’t happy. In all fairness I should probably have told her that I wouldn’t be back if they didn’t honor the coupon. I didn’t. I payed and silently stewed. But, since the people working there were not very friendly and the food wasn’t as good as Chin’s in Vista(it was good, just not as good), I guess it doesn’t matter. I won’t be back. The Vista owners(location) has a friendly staff, excellent food, AND they accept my coupons no matter what. Sometimes they even throw in something extra to try. Sorry I cheated on you, Chin’s. It won’t happen again.

My favorite Chinese food restaurant. I no longer live in San Marcos, but whenever my travels lead me to the area I usually swing by to grab a bite to eat. The portions are generous. The sauces are flavorful and the spiciness is just right for every dish. Its locationis a bit out of the way, always visible from the 78 but not always evident as to how to get there. Apart from that, I can’t say I’ve got anything I’d like to change about the place.

Today me and my wife tried chans Chinese restaurant. I ordered the kung pao chicken, and my wife ordered the spicy honey chicken. I didn’t feel rushed at all by the waitress. I say that cause in other reviews of this place, the other people felt rushed. When we got our food the food looked very good. And it was delicious. I really recommend this restaurant. The service was good. The food was good!

The food at Chan’s is mediocre at best golden fried shrimp was not tempura battered. Cream cheese Wontons were the the worst I ever had. Three flavor and lo mein were uninspired. I’ll never go back. For $ 50 I expect a much better meal.

I really don’t like giving negative reviews but felt I should save somebody else their money. Really one of the worst Chinese meals we have had in along time. Pity because we used to really like this place.

Had delicious Szechuan cuisine at Chan’s today. Fresh ingredients. Lunch convo for $ 11.55 came with soup, salad, rice, egg roll, and protein/veggies. I had spicy shrimp, chicken, beef with snow peas and broccoli with steamed rice which was superb. Veggies were cooked al dented which was great. Hubby had Hunan scallops and he enjoyed. The hot and sour soup was the thicker version with lots of flavor. Staff was friendly. A tip is don’t try to negotiate the soup or salad versus fruit for the day as it’s chef’s choice and that’s a quote. :-) I asked for salad versus fruit and was told its chef’s choice. I then asked what chef’s choice was today and was told salad. Honestly it wAs a friendly exchange. We got a kick out of it and will be back.

The food here was good but my favorite part was our waitress. I didn’t catch her name but she was so friendly and funny that she made the whole experience better. She may have been an owner because my boyfriend is a regular here and knew exactly who I was talking about when I mentioned her. My family came here with a baby and she was very attentive and careful to make sure us and the baby were comfortable. From the temperature of the room to making sure she placed the tea and hot plates away from the baby. The free tea was great and the presentation of the food was good. I have a gluten allergy and I felt like there was nothing on the menu I could eat and our waitress was patient and helpful with my questions. I ended up getting the garlic chicken and was okay(although if you have a serious allergy I wouldn’t recommend it). The atmosphere was very ethnic looking and clean. Would come back even though my options are extremely limited for being gluten free.

We ordered a take a way this week. Beef broccoli with chicken fried rice and four egg rolls. It was excellent!!! We will definitely be back for more. Price seems expensive but when you get two meals for two it’s a bargain. Keep up the great quality with great service.

Good place to go to get Chinese food. The food was delicious. The dinner portion sizes were very generous. I had enough for leftovers the next day. The only reason why I didn’t give 5 out 5 stars was for two reasons and something I would look into if I ran the restaurant. First, there were a lot of open tables, yet the greeter clumped everyone into one small section. Everyones conversation could be heard by others around them. Second, the waitress came across as wanting to rush us when it came to ordering.

Tried this place for lunch today and was sooo glad I did! I loved the food back when it was Chins but nothing ever drew me in as a regular. I definitely think I will become a regular here. I loved that the menu is so extensive and gives you plenty of options below whatever protein you choose. Of course being a vegetarian, my options are always limited but there was about 4 or 5 good ones. I got the assorted mixed vegetables and although it wasn’t too flavorful it was still good. I also loooove that they leave a tea pot on the table to enjoy some tea with your meal, amazing! The lunch special was very well priced and came with hot and sour soup, a really simple yet delicious salad, fried rice and cream cheese wontons! I really appreciate that the starters are all vegetarian friendly and they give cream cheese wontons rather than the crab ones. Also it’s super couple friendly, dim lights and has a fancy feel. I loved it and can’t wait to come back and try the other things on the menu.

Ive been coming to this place for years now(even before they moved from their location in the vons shopping center). We used to take my grandparents here, and they would always be so welcoming and accommodating even though they were really messy. Amazing food, consistent quality, and huge portions. And their lunch combo meals are AMAZING.

Called in an order to go — the time was not bad. The food was not amazing and the prices are a bit high for the quality of food, but I can say we got a fair bit of food for the money. I miss really good Chinese food(I’m from SF Bay Area) and Chan’s just doesn’t stack up.

Been searching for salt and pepper pork chops. Wasn’t that great. 3 stars for having it because it’s hard to find a place that serves salt and pepper pork chop.

Cant go wrong with great food, good atmosphere. But server appeared a little rushed even though the resturant was not too busy. Plus, prices went up just little and portions went down a little bit, hence the 4 star review.

The food was good no issue however the server seems to be a bit in a hurry and the restaurant was not busy. There was a price increase and a portion decease. With that said a 4 star rating is deserving.

This place used to be managed and owned by Chins. But they sold this location to a whole new manager which is rude and loud when supposedly he’s speaking to you nicely and changed the name to Chan’s. The food isn’t good anymore. Now we have to drive all the way to Escondido to the real Chin’s Restaurant. The only nice waitress there would be Wendy she’s awesome and always smiling. Can’t say that about the other ladies they’re rude and you could tell they hate their job.

three and a half star experience. Lunch special was 995 It came with hot n sour soup, salad(which is just shredded lettuce with peanuts) and the entrée with rice and two wontons. The quality was good, lots of mushrooms and veggies and the taste was spot on. My compliments to the chef. The lunch sized quantity will leave you full.
I will give them one star for the service, it was a lady who was rude, abrupt, loud and did not fit in with the zen like atmosphere. Had to ask for lemons twice, she brought out the food faster then we could enjoy it all within the first five minutes of us sitting. I didnt even get to ask for crispy noodles for my soup before she had brought out my entrée. Then she was gone. For good. I asked a nice elder gentleman setting tables for refills and at least some of the sauce that should come with the meal. At the end I almost walked up and made sure he got my tip. I give stars for the food and ambiance, not the waitstaff.

Now called Chans. The best Chinese food in North County! Favorites include: Imperial Soup, house special fried rice(lots of shrimp, chicken, beef, and pork), honey walnut shrimp, and house special crispy noodles. The Chinese broccoli is fresh, crunchy, very tasty! Fried shrimp appetizer is delicious too. Servers are very warm and friendly. We either order take out or dine in at least 3 times a month! If you’re craving Chinese food and are in North County, eat here!

when JULIANA and WYATT, my ten and eight year old, are in the mood for sticky sweet and lots of meat, CHINESE-ish AMERICAN food, CHIN’s SZECHWAN does not disappoint. swung by the one in SANMARCOS friday evening for some kid’s take-out — the girl’s HOTBURNEDPORK and the boy’s SPICYHONEYCHICKEN. at this location, they have a CHINESE-CHINESE menu too and i grabbed one for mom and dad for next time.

Came here for dinner on Christmas with a larger party of eight, our reservation was for 5:30 but were not seated until 5:45. The hostess was annoyed that I asked two different people about being seated after she said it would only be five minutes to be seated. The restaurant was totally packed and when we did get service our waiter was extremely rushed taking orders with an interrogation style of questioning. There was silverware on the floor from the prior party that occupied our table; this was super gross as it had some sticky sauce on the fork on the floor. Ordered beers as well which we had to ask to get glasses for when they were served, who drinks beer out of the bottle at a sit down dinner? Again they seemed annoyed we asked for the glasses and very rushed. Food took a very long time to be served which made this a two hour dining experience. The food quality was just ok, everything tasted bland and frankly for $ 170 plus tip for a party of eight with only four adults felt overpriced. I will not be back again; lousy service, dirty restaurant, high prices !!
