Swimming pool is great, rec staff is friendly. ^_^ Upstairs has a track upstairs, downstairs has a large range of equipment. A bonus for any student.

People who are reviewing this place poorly obviously haven’t been to many gyms. Yes, it gets crowded(usually in the months right after New Year). I mostly go during the fall and have never had serious issues waiting for equipment. It happens, but what do you expect? This is the best place to workout in a 30 mile radius. Great array of equipment, from cardio machines to cable machines to free weights. I’ve never had issues with the staff. The only issues I’ve had pertain to the lockers, only because I hate using those standard locks. I’d prefer a different system on that but overall this is a great place to go if you’re serious about getting in shape.

My review is for the weight room only. If you have gone here many times you know how bad it can get. Extremely over crowded. Nobody racks their weights and the staff… well do they actually do anything? I came here the other day expecting to be let in but wasn’t allowed because you have to be enrolled on campus instead of just online courses for the summer. To sum it up this place is packed, has newer but crappy equipment and weights are scattered everywhere. If you want to casually lift weights this may be your go to spot. The entire time I worked out here though I spent long periods of time waiting to use the equipment and racking other people’s weights.

The weight room is fantastic, although they could really use some weight lifting platforms with rubber weights. Overall, very friendly, clean, and well-maintained gym.

Choice gym of San Marcos. Newly built facility with tons of free weight areas and machines to aid any workout plan. Don’t have a clue what your doing? No worries. The Student Rec Center offers a number of helpful(and affordable!) personal trainers and fitness classes. My only criticism is that the weight room could be even bigger to accommodate people during high volume hours. However, with the addition of a number of basket ball courts, raquet ball courts, badmitten courts, a rock wall, huge pool, in-door track, a ping pong table, and golf simulator, it really can’t be beat.
