I like this place when it’s slow, but that’s rare. There’s mostly a long wait, but other than that their food is alright! I always try the different mimosas and none have disappointed so far. I usually come here when I find a coupon from

Prices are high and food is OK. They also don’t take reservations. The service is good for a breakfast place.

I frequent this broken yolk on a weekly basis. It’s one of the best in San Diego. It’s not crowded or loud like the other restaurants. Great selection of food, and the lunch menu is amazing. I like their club sandwich and southwest wrap. Their broccoli slaw is healthier and better than Mission Valley’s! The best part about this restaurant is the service: Megan is the best waitress!

Chargers season ticket holder here, so every Sunday when the Chargers have a home game we like to catch breakfast in San Marcos before getting on the interstate 15 to head down to the Q. With that said, we didn’t intend to have breakfast here. I’ve heard so-so reviews from friends about this place. We intentionally wanted to have breakfast at Mama Kats down the street. But it was so packed with an hour wait and we had a game to get to so we came here. Only a 10 – 15 minute wait here but we got seated quicker than that even with a packed house. Food was alright, nothing memorable at all. Prices were to high for food with that didn’t taste all that. I got eggs Benedict, my girlfriend got a waffle and my sister got a omelette. We all agree the food was nothing to rave about. This visit was a couple month ago, now I’m going to talk about my visit 2 days ago. Same situation, we intended to go to Mama kats but once again it was over hour long wait. With a Sunday packed with errands me and girlfriend decided to go with the backup plan, so we came here. It was a packed house. We were given a wait time of 10 – 15 minutes but got seated in about 5 minutes. This time I got a omelette and my girlfriend got biscuits and gravy. The food was very very BLAND. My omelette had no taste even with all the toppings I had in it. My girlfriends dish had no taste as well. The prices are high and the portions are very small. This was our second time here and we won’t be coming back. I just don’t understand why this place is always packed. Either people just don’t know better or it’s their plan b as well. 1 star was for the fact that we get seated rather quickly even when it’s packed on a Sunday morning, and the other star was for customer service.

The waitress Katie was nice but service was slow. It took 25 minutes for us to get food. 3 tables that were sat after us got their food before us. No apologies just cold food.

With a previous gross experience at the Carlsbad location I’m suprised we stopped at this location today after paying our union dues. We realized this wasn’t the one we went to a week ago. So why not give another location a shot. We walked in and it was a mad house due to it being new years eve but the host greeted us with a smile and seated us right away. That was a big plus! Front end… CHECK! Server came had a really nice attitude… CHECK! Food came and it was delishious! CHECK… CHECK. First thing I checked on my BLTA was the avocado and it was fresh as it could be! Myself and Daughter enjoyed it. Thanks to this location for coming through with high expectations of food! We won’t get you confused with the other location again!

Mediocre bland, overpriced food. A «large» glass of orange juice costs $ 5 with no refills. Service is ok, nothing special about this place at all. First and last time.

I went there this morning for brunch. I got pancakes with hash browns and sausage. The pancakes were very large. Hash browns weren’t as big of a portion as the pancakes, however they were still really good. They close early at 3 pm so if you plan on going make sure that you go there before then. The restaurant was super busy so service wasn’t all that great, but that is expected when it’s busy.

Good food and quick service. I normally go to the Oceanside TBY, but this is closer to home. Getting the biscuits and gravy which I know will be good. I’m hungry and thinking too much about digging in to a plate of amazing breakfast food. Just go to the Yolk, eat well and be prepared to be pleased.

The key is to get the right dish. The first time eating here I was not pleased! Pretty much stay away from the pancakes and sausage. My go to items are the olé’ reliable burger(yes I like burgers for breakfast) and the California burrito. Both super delicious.

This is about the fourth location of the broken yolk I’ve been to. I’ve never been disappointed with anything I’ve ordered. However, the fiesta burrito has got to be my favorite. The server was exceptionally friendly and very quick at getting my food to me. I will definitely be back when I’m in the San Diego area.

We came here on Saturday straight from a CrossFit workout, and we were STARVING! Luckily, we were seated immediately, the service was on-point and the food arrived very fast. My teeange son got a breakfast burrito: He loved it and it was big enough to cut in half and get two meals out of. My husband and I both got omelets, which were packed full of the goodies we ordered in them. We will definitely be back.

Quick service, seated immediately with a smile. Avoid the crowds and come in on Saturday between the breakfast and lunch rush. CA breakfast burrito is so delicious and well crafted. Salsa Fresca is darn good too!

We had a reservation for a group of 5, we arrived and were seated right away. They quickly took our order. We waited over 30 minutes for our food. The waters kept coming but the food never came. The food is decent it was nothing special. My hungry man chicken steak tasted better than this. My friend had a wrap and bit into a chunk of foil. The manager quickly took it off the bill. Verdict: save your money and walk over to the supermarket and buy yourself a hungry man.

I love this place. My coffee cup is always filled, they have staff who continuously go around with coffee and water. The service is always good, never had a problem with servers. They have the best chicken fried steak! The gravy is on point and full of flavor. I like mama kats but hands down broken yolk has the tastier version of the chicken fried steak. Wait time is good, nothing crazy Usually get seated right away, would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a good breakfast without the long wait

Ended up here after my friends and I found out the wait for a table of four at Mama Kat’s was over an hour. We were all relieved to hear the wait to be seated at The Broken Yolk would be fifteen to twenty minutes. I thought everything on the breakfast menu looked great, but an omelette will almost always win me over. I ordered the No Name omelette and it was stuffed with plenty of avocado, bacon and tomato. My only problem with it was there’s supposed to be mushrooms and there was not enough in mine. What I really liked was the option to choose their homemade blueberry muffin instead of the traditional toast or english muffin to go with your main dish. The amount of food you get for the price is absolutely worth it.

Start by saying, service is excellent. Greeted right away, server is extremely nice, and the place is clean. I ordered the california benedict with the home fries. The taste is pretty on point but two discrepancies that i knocked off two stars for. Homefries were a bit over cooked and tasted rather plain. I’d probably pick the hashbrowns if I decided to come back a second time. The eggs for the california benedict… i ordered them soft. They came out hard over. No runny eggs… just a over cooked yolk. Thats a huge no-no… sorry but i had to definitely kick a star off for that. The taste was good… but the eggs make a whole world a difference when it isnt prepped the way you want it.

When our other brunch option had an hour+ wait, my friend recommended we come try this place out; I called in and they only had a 10 minute wait, and I was immediately placed on the waiting list. Complimentary water outside for guests waiting for their tables, which is great for those hot days. Checked in when we arrived and our party was seated within five minutes. Excellent. Ordered the Golden State Benedict(new item); friends got 1) steak and eggs and 2) a nutella crêpe with a side of turkey bacon. Friendly, super efficient service throughout the brunch – had my coffee refilled almost too often as I dined. The food was definitely diner hearty; the hollandaise sauce was super rich and just a tad too heavy for me(didn’t stop me from nearly clearing the plate, though). The benedict definitely didn’t need the tomato – it just made the bread soggy, so I left the other piece of bread and tomato on the side and ate the egg. Otherwise the benedict was pretty good. The homefries weren’t what I was expecting; they’re almost like chunky hash browns, but they work great with ranch(maybe just as a carrier for ranch; idk, I’m kinda crazy for ranch and potatoes). Everything needed just a bit more salt and pepper, but overall very satisfactory. My friend’s steak was cooked perfectly and left me wanting a big slice of medium rare myself. Mmmm. Nobody left much on their plates; definitely would return here if I was around. My only question is: why are there so many TVs playing ESPN when this is obviously a family restaurant?
