A quasi-obituary for the business, a semi-review. This was the classiest«pool hall» with the nicest atmosphere and the most genuinely-warm proprietor of any place I have visited in the Bay Area. It’s the only business I’ve ever seen where nearly *every* review mentioned how wonderful and friendly the owner is to her patrons. The tables were high quality, the drinks and entertainment fairly priced, the lighting and environment comfortable while at the same time the house was always clean. I enjoyed bringing large groups here and introducing people to Michelle’s grace and charm as well as the friendly charm of B Street Billiards. It’s my hope her overflowingly-positive karmic account now keeps Michelle well and she can have success in some other endeavour of her choosing. And maybe even in the same prime location. Wherever she lands, go there!!!

great place for a chill night out with friends. order a beer and play some pool. What more can you ask for? So about a week ago I heard of the bad news that this place was closing down, so my friends and I managed to come visit one last time on Saturday 29th at about 10:30pm. This place was packed! Of course, I wasn’t surprise because everyone wanted to enjoy this place one more time before it gets torn down. There was a total of 5 of us, and we had 2 parties ahead of us. Waited for about 30 minutes or so before we got out table. We occupied ourselves with a pitcher of White Castle beer before starting off our pool night. This place has a nice vibe and the atmosphere is chill and fun. The only thing is, the tables are a teeny bit close together. You gotta have to watch your backs when you get ready to poke a ball. haha. But anyhow, the owner, she is super nice. So sad this place is closing down. I am sure you’ll be missed! And i guess more businesses will be going to The Great Entertainer now.

Yet another coolest place on B Street/Downtown San Mateo. You can easily get tables if you happen to be there around 8ish but gets completely booked after 9. We were lucky on a Saturday night around 930pm. We got the corner most table — secluded, lots of room to keep your things/drinks or to sit down. One black mark is that the restroom is also there so people tend to walk by your table often. The host is super cool and friendly staff.

Stopped in for a friends birthday get together. They had a table in the corner which was a nice spot. Plenty of alcohol at the bar and the prices weren’t so bad either. The place isn’t so big like some others might have been, but it’s a good size for a little fun. They also have food to order.

Love it here! Great place to hang out with friends and have a couple of beers. Bar staff is always friendly, and they have Guinness! Never too crowded, and one of the cleanest pool halls I’ve ever been too, and pretty cheap.

This place rocks, plain and simple. You want a cool place to hang out with your friends, play a few rounds and grab a beer? This place is it. I was a regular when I lived in the area and miss it dearly now that I live out of state. I always visit when I go home to see family. Michelle is the sweetest lady ever, and some of her bar staff are really great too.

Include this in your bar tour of SM along with O’Neills, McGoverns, and the Yuppie Bar. Our group likes this place because the service is friendly, it’s never too crowded, it’s got a good selection of draft beer, and we can always find a table no matter how small or big our group is. The pool tables are nice. The location is central to down town San Mateo. AND last but not least, have you found the hidden bathroom? Try B St. Bs out and ask for it. It’s kinda funny.

We went here one night and were surprised at how empty it was. It’s a pool hall so there isn’t much to say, the people that work there were very friendly, their prices decent, the place very clean, and the tables & lighting were good. If had an itch for a pool game I would come here for sure, the only downside is that it closes early, no real vibe or music, and it doesn’t serve alcohol.

If Michelle likes you, she’ll make a heart in the foam in the top of your guiness. I get hearts. Just sayin’.

If I was rating my own Pool skills I give myself two stars. 1 for not always hitting my own balls in, and other for having cute pool stance in a skirt. but as for this place, awesome friendly and attentive service. pretty clean, I can actually use the bathrooms. not too sketchy of a crowd and plenty of lounge space. good choice of beers on tap. the music is entertaining in itself, wayback machine station? although I am not good at the game, I would come back here anyway, it was pretty relaxing and a great place to take friends.

I want to really like this place but I’m not quite sold on it. B Street offers a lot of pool tables and has a bar in the back so it should have had me at hello but it didn’t even catch my breath when entering. Some of the highlights is there are quite a few tables through out the two rooms, the servers know their patrons and stop by each table to see how you’re doing. Some lowlights was the music. The crowd is young so you’d think you’d have music catered to them. It was like Radio Alice or KOIT playing. Very mellow music and every time I went for a shot it threw me off to here Counting Crows or some Alanis song. Now don’t get me wrong after a good breakup some of these songs come in handy but in a chic place it is out of sorts. Had they thrown in a few new top 40 songs the place would be packed. Their prices seemed a little steep for a poolhall but then again I haven’t played pool for a while. If it weren’t for a $ 10 off discount that my friend used I would have been shocked with the prices considering we were not there all night long practicing our ninja skills. I give it 3 stars because I hear there are not many places to play pool in the south Bay and for the service. But personally I’d say 2 stars.

I don’t play pool so this might be biased. Haha. The only other place open late at night. A bazillion pool tables. Came here w/some friends and one of them wanted to grab a bite to eat. DONOT come here hungry. They had like 4 things available and hot pockets were on the list. Haha. Bathrooms were kind of gross. I can see how people would like the music here but I wasn’t a huge fan. It was like Britney Spears and shit.

Shiny boobs. That was the first thing I noticed when I came here. I know, it’s degenerate and objectifying and sexist blah blah just go make me a sandwich already. But no. The woman working here had shiny boobs. They were almost reflective. I can’t say as I was intentionally ogling them, as all men born must stare at boobs before they die, but I could almost see my damned reflection in them. That’s impressive boobage, honestly. I’ve spent nights wondering how recursive life would be if I looked into the boobs and the boobs looked back. Nietzsche didn’t see that one coming. Boobs that shine with the power of a contained sun aside, a friend of mine hauled me here for billiards with the intention of righteously schooling me, as I’ve repeatedly stated I’m bad at pool. I’m good at a lot of things. Spur-of-the-moment combinations of esoteric slurs and animals. Wearing the right tie with the right shirt. Drinking too much. Those are all things I’m good at. Pool? Not so much. Physics, not my strongest point. So we get some beer, we get some sticks, and we have our typical duel to the death, in which I beat him like a foster kid in a bad neighborhood, three times in a row. He accused me of hustling him. I accused him of sucking like a Thai ladyboy with a twenty-dollar-bill in mind. He accused me of having a lot of cheap Jew-wolves in my ancestry. I accused him of a great deal of jealousy of the super Jew genetics. He accused me of escaping the proper oven with my name on it. I accused him… well, this went on for awhile, escalated by further beers and stalemates. Between the beers, the pool, the madcap offensive conversation and the ongoing playing of Yaz and AC/DC and Erasure and Ricky Martin and hilariously edited Nine Inch Nails and ongoing confusion/bewilderment of the surrounding tables, I have to say it was a pretty fun night out. So I’ll recommend this place to anyone who wants to get wrecked, knock around some balls, pay a bit much for beer… and of course, see some shiny boobs. Shiny!

Beer, Pool, and 90’s Rock. I really shouldn’t have to say more, i mean nothing beats listening to temple of the dog, knocking back a few, and playin some pool or billiards if that’s your thing i guess

They got pool, beers, music, TV’s and clean restrooms.

So there is actually a billiards place in the Bay that’s not ghetto. Wow! I walked in without the fear of getting shot at. Friendly bartender and waitress. Have a great sense of humor and played along with our(ok, my) lame joke. Cheap beer in a mellow atmosphere. Comfortable couches, too.

Usually a nice chill place to head off to after a day of work, the woman who runs the place is always very attentive and friendly with all of her patrons, playing pool or grabbing a drink. The bartender is also extremely attentive and professional. I always felt comfortable and relaxed coming here. Come earlier in the evening to take advantage of the happy hour rates where you will save close to 4 bucks an hour in addition to the fact that the tables will be open. What I like about this place is that if you grab a table and want to chill for a while, you can, the staff won’t chase you out or put on time limits. Should you come when it is full just head over to the bar and ask to have them add your name on the waiting list. I have come here on a couple occasions where they have done a open mic night, and even done a work function here in the other attached room which can be used for private parties. I will say that a few of the tables aren’t exactly regulation size, still it can make for a fun evening. I really did enjoy how they converted this former bank into a casual yet upscale appeal nightlife spot. Plus parking after 6:00 pm on the street and the lot is free.

4.5 stars, but a wonderful staff always makes me round up instead of down. I can confirm the previous claims of Michelle’s warmth, beauty and energy. She is a dynamo, keeping busy making sure everybody’s taken care of. The bartender was also very nice and attentive. The atmosphere is friendly… a nice combination of upscale yet casual. The tables are pretty good, but the one we were on could have used a new felt and/or a wooden rack. We had trouble getting a rack of balls to sit still. As for the complaints about parking, the parking garage is half a block away and only 50 cents an hour(half that if you park on the upper levels!) I did not miss having food or cocktails. They had a good selection of beer and wine. They don’t have tournaments or leagues, so there isn’t much extra to offer the more serious player. Aside from a MUCH, MUCH nicer place to play than any other place nearby. Which actually is a lot, now that I think about it.
