Bishop’s Hallmark

It was about 8pm Sunday night when I entered the store. The mall wasn’t very busy and there was one other customer in the store. As I walked into the store I oddly find Victoria the sales girl reading a book while sitting at the top of the rear counter. As I walked up and down the store looking for the right gift I asked if they provide gift receipts. Shortly after I bought my items to the cash wrap and asked to get ring up. A sticker at the bottom of one of the items indicated it came with the original box. As I pointed that out to her, she first said she had to look for it. Then she said the box was gone. I then told her if I need to buy boxes I would as I will need to wrap it. Moments later she got me a box and it was in fact the original box for that item. Quickly after paying for them, she started shuffling the pieces into the box. Victoria seem to remember I asked for gift receipts but she didn’t have the right sense of removing price stickers before they are going into the box:(! Shouldn’t this be common sense to first removing prices?! Overall speaking though Victoria wasn’t much attentive but she managed to deliver an ok job.

With the digital age and the internet, I am seeing more and more card shops go out of business. I’ve been lucky to find this Hallmark with excellent staff. They also moved and their now closer to The Gap on the 2^nd Floor. Looks like they downsized a bit too. But the quality of selections are still in tact, and also it looks like the same ladies still work here. Always nice to see a familiar face. I am so glad that there is still a greeting card place where I can still put my hands and open each cards, read it, and even manage to get a good laugh! This type of experience I believe is priceless!

5 stars for having a FANTASTIC after Christmas sale — 75% off ALL holiday stuff: serving plates, mini scrapbook albums, stuffed animals, books, wrapping paper, etc. 75% OFF! That itself deserves 5 stars. Most other Hallmarks only give 40% off (although they do have more variety so they can probably pull off only giving 40% off). I did wait until after the new year to go and shop. I’m guessing if you go the day after Christmas it’s probably only 40−50% off. Great to stock up for next year!

After reading the previous review’s I am kind of shocked on the level of service I received for a simple request which they are supposed to honor by policy (they offer a service which they charge a fee for and should not be declined at any point and time. What is this service you ask… GIFT WRAPPING… really hallmark? there are three things Hallmark is known for Cards, Wrapping paper and gift wrapping! I came in with a graduation present which needed to be wrapped ASAP, I was willing to pay any price to have it done since I was under a time constraint, however I was told that no matter what I paid they would not wrap it because they were «too busy», I looked around the store and saw ALL FOUR of their customers while being starred down by four employee’s. All of the customers were not being assisted just watched from behind the counter by the employee’s. I then offered to leave it there for an hour in hopes that they could wrap it when they were «free» and I was told that I could leave it but it would not be wrapped… WTF? what kind of customer service is that! This place truly sucks, the entire staff needs to be swapped out!

So we went on Monday the day after Christmas during the crazy time and the sales people were totally helpful and willing to help you find an item without being nasty! I know it has been a long season, but you wouldnt know it here. The ladies were plesant and very helpful. Again it was 50% unlike some other stores that are not corporate, but only giving 40% off. Great experience!

This location sits upstairs in the Hillsdale Shopping Center and it offers everything you would expect in a Hallmark. Several aisles of heart warming, funny and religious cards. There’s one for every person and occasion in your life. Big fan of their selection of boxed bards, especially during the holidays.
Make sure to check out their ornaments and their gift giving ideas for your family and friends. You’ll find something perfect for everyone in your life.
Overall…I highly suggest if you’re looking to buy some greeting cards or gifts… give this Hallmark a try.

OK Hallmark, but there were lot’s of things that were not on sale after Christmas that you would think would be. The staff was friendly and helpful and they still had some cute stuff on the 28^th, so maybe they should be discounting more the 50%. I just like browsing in Hallmark stores. You never know what you’ll find.
