Just gotta out work and looking for dinner. Unilocal found me a perfect Chinese takeout place. The food was FRESH and very affordable, will definitely go back

My new favorite Chinese place. Delivery is quick, food always arrives piping hot, and they’re always willing to take a custom request if you ask. Favorites are: Beef stew Crab rangoons Tofu and veggies Or my custom tofu, shrimp, black mushrooms There was one time I called for delivery and they couldn’t do it because the guy was on vacation. I thought that was odd, but ended up picking up my food. Lots of parking.

Ordered delivery from here following Unilocal reviews and it was good!!! The food came in a reasonable amount of time, hot and more than enough to eat 4. I ordered the sesame chicken, mandarin pork chops and shrimp fried rice. Every was great but those mandarin pork chops… AWESOME!!! The delivery guy was very nice too :)

I love the dry braised sting bean and Kung Pao Prawn dishes. The prawn chow mein is good too. What i really like is that they a website where you can order delivery, pick up or express dine in. I remember the restaurant that was at the location before and this new management and food is much better.

Munchies on a Sunday night led me to this quaint Chinese restaurant. I live on the other side of san mateo so it was a quick drive. The food was great for the price. Has a mom and pop small business feel that makes you want to support them. I ordered Braised Prawns and Mongolian Beef and steamed rice. They were both pretty good. Im a second generation vietnamese/chinese male so ive been eating americanized and authentic chinese food my whole life. Hungry and want some quick chinese food? Hit them up and support small businesses. Their Engrish isn’t very great so be patient.

Don’t order from here. I ordered to go with my co workers and one of the order was chicken with string beans(which we’ve ordered before). What we got was just string beans and no chicken. We called back asking about it and they denied Us Ever ordering it and saying they can’t even make that order. They gave us a lot of attitude before we decided the hang up and never order from there again.

Thanks to the owners and employees of Chan Wei Bistro for a delicious supper. I have ordered takeout from them twice. My favorite is the lemon chicken. My father, who’s a total Chinese food snob(he’s a snob about most cuisine but Chinese is his favorite) tipped this business $ 10 on a $ 26 check. Thank you, Chan Wei, for the delicious spring rolls as well. I’ll be pleased to do business with you again!

Food was really good. I liked the shrimp with walnuts. I think if they added green apple it would be even better. Language is a barrier there, but I guess that makes it all the better.

After seeing all of the pictures from basically two people on Unilocal,we decided to give the hole in the wall place a try. You go through a screen door. Liked — portions So so — potstickers — egg rolls — crispy chow mein — broccoli beef chow fun Meh — too much MSG and corn starch(my stomach still churning right now) — no air conditioning on for a hot day Not sure this is worth a repeat. It might be cheaper but you get what you pay for.

Inexpensive. Large portions. But, lacks finess. Flavors are not quite there. Needed salt. Nothing too bad to say, but nothing great to say either. In a pinch, I may go back again, but, given how many other options there are in San Mateo, the pinch may not come for a while.

Serious cheap eats and huge portions. Flavor was decent and quality was a-ok. They have some of my favorites like salt and pepper pork chops and chicken wings. Take out is definitely recommended. The place looks a little rough. Last night, we got to dine with the electrician working on the fans. Good times. Perhaps that If I was in need of some cheap Chinese food I may consider this place. Maybe.

Man I think I’ve found my go to place for Chinese food. I came around 3:30 so it’s not that surprising to see the restaurant empty. Their lunch plates are from 11 – 3 but the guy was nice to let me order it. When my food came out I was shocked by how filling the portion was and how much meat they give you. Overall nothing bad to say about this place except that it’s really hot in here. Good service(excellent for an Asian restaurant), very cheap prices, huge portions, and pretty good tasting too. I really hope they do well here.

STILL the best! If you live in the San Mateo area and don’t try this place it’s YOUR fault-not mine. I’ve tried to advise you of a great place to eat. Good people and great food.

Great food at an outstanding price! We ordered the Mu Shu pork as well as their Singapore style rice noodles and each was delicious. We also had the hot and sour soup and it was the perfect blend of tangy and spicy. The best part of it all though is that despite the high quality food, the price is extremely reasonable. We have officially changed our families«go to» Chinese food. Edit: I forgot to add that the service was prompt and friendly! Hard to find nowadays.

The place is by itself and not actually in downtown like we thought. Never the less, the inside looks alright. I don’t expect much with Chinese décor. Possibly family owned. The food is very affordable!(See menu prices) And lunch comes with soup. Not to mention the portions are huge especially for lunch. Definitely will come back as this will be my new go to Chinese joint.

I wish them the best. The potstickers were bland, the Kung Pao chicken was sweet, the peppers weren’t hot. I probably will try somewhere else for our next stop.

This has got to be the best deal for Chinese food on the whole peninsula. Their prices are super low and their portions are super huge.

Stopped by here on a saturday with my buddy as we were in the area. I have to say, this is by far the best chinese food I have had in the whole bay area. The portions are huge and very cheap. Its delicious. We tried the kung pao chicken and the sweet and sour chicken. They came with a yummy soup and choice of fried or steamed rice! Excellent… my only complaint is that this place is too far away from where i live.

Their serving sizes for lunch specials are large! The service is great. The server was really nice and accommodating. Beef and broccoli is typical. Szechuan chicken is essentially deep fried with sweet and sour sauce. It’s delicious and meant I could trick my boyfriend into eating sweet and sour chicken finally! He’s a health nut. We also asked for dry-braised string beans. Even though it isn’t specifically on their menu they still made it for us, which was especially nice of them. They also gave us free pot stickers! Epic.

I’m not really sure how this place stays open. the previous location was also a Chinese restaurant, and that one was constantly dead. This one is just as empty, maybe it does better with workday lunch orders? We got take-out for dinner to try it out the other day, just to see the allure. SERVICE. Not sure if they fully understood our order, even after repeating it a few times. We asked for pork with broccoli, received char siu with broccoli, which is kinda close. They also threw in an order of dumplings for free, which was a nice touch. ORANGEPORK. Very, very heavily breaded, and very heavy on the orange. Served alone, it’s a bit much, and a bit mushy, but not bad. CHARSIU w/BROCCOLI. Definitely not the normal, delicious char siu I’m used to. It’s a little bland, to be honest. Not very heavy on seasoning, probably not a repeat for us. It’s not bad, an average little hole-in-the-wall, really.
