Great Thai restaurant in San Mateo. We went there today for a late lunch and were happily surprised. The décor is nice, the service was good and the food came out nice and warm. The staff was very friendly and were very attentive, water was refiled often. We started with the hot pot stickers, they were moist and the sauce over them had a nice spicy kick to it. For the main course we had the Tamarin Beef and the Pad Thai. The beef was perfectly cooked, it had fresh vegetables and the portion size was enough for two. The pad Thai was also very good and a good portion, it had 4 – 5 large shrimps and the noodles were nicely done, not too sweet, just right. We both like spicy food so we asked for some chilly sauce as the food was not spicy out of the kitchen. We also ordered Thai Tea and it was a good compliment to the spicy food. Overall all 3 dishes we very good and did not disappoint, we would order them again next time. Certainly will be going back. UPDATED9÷27÷11. Went here again today only to find out the place went out of business. New owner, new name, new menu, but still a Thai restaurant.

This little spot has changed names a couple of times. Current incarnation(pun intended) has a flavor set that’s just right. A couple of caveats: I’ve only eaten here once and it was take away. The Tamarin Beef was ONHIT; like full of flavor but not hella salty, I even ordered without rice and they were cool about it(sort of a protein freak, not like you, but still…). I got confused as they gave it to me in a soup container, but it was so that all the saucey sauce could be savored. Would definitely go here again!

My Thai friends and I ate lunch in Currents today. We always enjoy trying new restaurants and this one is one of the most unforgettable restaurants I ever had. It’s brand new open Thai restaurant located san mateo. We had mango salad with poached prawns, tom yum soup, hot pot stickers, pad Thai, yellow curry, and hang noodle. All the food is amazing there. I am not a Thai, but the food makes me feel homemade. The mango is super fresh and sweet with jicama, it just likes summer on the beach. I tried almost 10 different pad Thai in different restaurant, this one is just perfect for me. The noodle in the pad Thai is neither too sticky together nor too strong to chew. The best part is it won’t be too sweet. Sometimes, the pad Thai is a little bit too sweet in other restaurant and that makes me feel I have not eaten anything yet. The other food I want to recommend to you is the yellow curry. It is softer than Japanese curry and lighter than Indian curry. You can feel milky when you put the curry and rich together to eat. I just want to say the food in Currents is really lovely and delicious. If you also enjoy trying food from all over the world and you want find the traditional taste of Thai food, you absolutely have to try Currents. I hope you can fall in love with this restaurant like I do. Ps: check the Thai ice tea out, you will never regret.

«Currents» was the name papered over where the name«luna» used to be. following were«contemporary thai cuisine». i looked at the menu and it looked typical thai to me. the interior may be unchanged. i wouldn’t know since luna had previously papered over the windows so one could look in. present décor new, on the dark side, no noticeable thai motif. sampling: lunch special: green curry with chicken(7.95) –supposed to have eggplant, bamboo, basil, lychee, peppers, etc. –didn’t notice any eggplant, lots of almost stringy but still tender bamboo, many lychee, –chicken kind of dry., not so tender –green curry, semiwatery, creamy, kind of sweet –came with small salad, some fruit. leftovers: –restaurant empty 1:30ish while next door full. –looks to be family runned.
