An okay sushi roll… Sushi was loosely rolled, falls apart easily… tasted good though… person who delivered my food was a little bit rude. Asked for his tip didn’t wait for me to hand it to him.

The food wasn’t very good. The sushi was cut badly as well. For the price you pay here, you can get better sushi.

I would say the sushi here tastes like the sushi prepared at the mall food court. Don’t come here if you want real, authentic sushi. My husband ordered something that was on the boards posted on the walls– the volcano roll. Ingredients weren’t listed but We figure it’s a pretty standard roll and we knew what would be inside. When we received the volcano roll, it came wrapped in foil as it appeared it came out of the oven. We opened it up and it was a baked fish on top of a bed of rice. What is this??! Our waiter confirmed with us that this was indeed the volcano roll. Google«volcano roll.» A standard volcano roll does not look /taste like this. It was disgusting. If you’re going to be untraditional with the volcano roll, at least name the ingredients on the board. Waste of $$.

This is my absolute favorite sushi place! The fish is always fresh and delicious. My husband and I love going for lunch and getting the 3 roll lunch special and a Lion King roll(Cali roll with salmon and garlic sauce on top, baked). Our bill is under $ 30 each time including tax and tip. I also like the fact that they deliver so on nights I’m too tired to cook the kids get their pick of bento boxes(chicken Katsu is a favorite in our house) and sushi rolls while the hubby and I order a San Mateo Roll(shrimp tempura with avocado and salmon on top), a spicy tuna, and a couple of Lion Kings. Five stars and two thumbs up for Daiki!

Even one star is too high for this place. Their delivery sucks. Got the order all wrong. When i ask the why the only answer that i get is because i say it wrong. He show me the reciept and tell me i only pay for what i get. They didnt over charge. So its not a big deal. Very rude and iresponsible. I will not ever order from this restaurant again.

I don’t see a point in leaving a feedback for this restaurant. The way their foods taste, I don’t think they can stay in business too long. When I walked in at 7:00pm and saw no one in the restaurant, I should have gotten a hint and leave the place. You don’t have to be Japanese to cook decent Japanese foods. Start by using fresh ingredients.

Visiting San Fransisco and found this sushi joint on Unilocal.Went in on a Saturday night and were the only patrons in the place. The weather was terrible, so that may be why. We thought the sushi was GREAT. The service was good. The Lion King roll was gross and we didn’t finish it… It was as advertised though, we just don’t like warm rolls, so that was our fault. The Lemon Drop was amazing and would have ordered 2 of them if we weren’t so stuffed… If we lived here we would make this a regular sushi stop.

Much like other Unilocalers, I ordered from Daiki because they’re the ONLY sushi place in the area that will deliver. And much like other Unilocalers, I am less than thrilled with our(expensive) meal from here. THEOVERVIEW. + The convenience of customer service definitely exists with their delivery option — Any cooked food(be it tempura, teriyaki, or katsu) is abysmal, dry, void of flavor, and scrawny portion-wise + The sashimi and sushi is of surprisingly high quality and very fresh — Their idea of a chirashi bowl involves steamed carrots and other mixed vegetables; even for an attempt at fusion, that shouldn’t happen Some $ 70-ish later, it became clear that we’re better off going in person to one of the slightly nicer sushi joints in town, unfortunately. It was a good wake-up call to stop being lazy and be more proactive about our meals, at least!

We regularly get delivery in San Mateo and have found Daiki to be a solid local choice for sushi. Service is fast, prices are reasonable and the food is usually tasty. Nothing I’ve had here knocks my socks off, but we keep returning to them because they are reliable. We’ve never eaten in house, so I can’t comment on the restaurant itself.

Overall, I don’t know other delivery sushi options, so if that’s what you want, this is what you are going to get(if you are me). I found the sushi to be palatable, which is kind of faint praise, but see the first sentence again! I prefer whole food’s sushi, but it doesn’t deliver. They messed up the non-sushi component of our order a bit and offered to correct it on the next delivery, which was theoretically better than nothing, but as we have not taken them up, I guess actually has amounted to nothing.

I always order from here because they are the only sushi place in San Mateo that delivers. Food is OK but I would order elsewhere if someone else delivered. I have never dined in here because of this. Delivery is normally on time; between 30 – 60 mins and hot upon arrival. Their udon tastes VERY metallic. Nothing special about the food to note.

Delivery was great on time. Unfortunately, the fish tasted like it was almost bad. The miso soup was of poor quality as well. Not sure if this is because we ordered around 8pm, but this was not a good experience for us.(Stomachs were not feeling well the next morning) Sad to give it such a poor rating, but it really wasn’t up to my expectations for sushi, and I’m from Dallas so that is saying a lot.

I’ve eaten here for a few years, never impressed but it’s easy access and when I go in, it’s decent. Delivery on the other hand, that is a nightmare and forces a change, as I will not be going back. We order food, they deliver the wrong thing, we say cool lets give them a call and get our order. After a friendly beginning to the conversation, it quickly shifted into who’s on first. We explained at least 20 different times, yes we ordered food, no we did not get our food, we got someone elses. at least 5 minutes go by of repeating back and forth the same thing. Ask to speak to a manager, repeat the same damn process. Language barriers I get, this was a stupid barrier I just could not overcome. Demanded refund from Eat24. Left the food on the street and demanded they come pick it up and no, don’t bring me the food I ordered as it is cold and I have no idea where it has been.

My first time ordering food from this place and I don’t think I’ll be ordering again. Although the delivery came rather quick, it was NOT up to my Japanese food standards. The tempura batter was something unexplainable — definitely was not panko and it was soggy as hell. My house salad was drenched in dressing — overwhelmingly drenched to the point where if I had extra lettuce at home, I would’ve needed a generous amount to add to it. Why didn’t they put the dressing on the side like I asked? The two rolls I got — lion king and San Mateo were less than mediocre, especially for the price! Maybe dining in will create a different experience but I sure as hell won’t be ordering from here again.

One of the worst sushi experiences I’ve ever had. First of all the prices on the menu posted outside don’t match the prices inside — shady. The quality of food is abhorrent. The salad was old iceberg lettuce with gross dressing, the Cali rolls are 70 percent mayonnaise, the miso soup was the saltiest I ever tasted, and the tempura is like styrofoam. I had salmon teriyaki bento box and although passable, it was still overcooked. I honestly don’t understand how this place is still in business. I feel sick just thinking about that meal.

The San Mateo Roll was good but not much more to be positive about. This must be the only Japanese restaurant I’ve been to that is run by Chinese/Cantonese staff. Teriyaki sauce was thick and gloopy and was poured over some stuff randomly thrown on a plate. A Japanese person wouldn’t recognize the main dish as Japanese. Miso soup was colored water.

Sashimi was not fresh and slightly nauseatingly fishy. Ordered IKA, SAKE. ANDSPIDERROLL. imitation crab was a filler in the spider roll, because there wasn’t enough soft shell crab.
