This place was recommended by a friend of mine who came to this place several times before. Now its a weekly tradition for me and my two kids, we all LOVE this place better than all the similar spots here in San Mateo. They have better prices and the drinks taste so fresh. The fruit drinks are so delicious. Everytime we go I make sure i try a different kind of drink and so far i have yet to be disappointed. We recently tried the eggettes original flavor and we all LOVE that now too. We plan to order something from the food menu on our next visit and I have a feeling that I won’t be disappointed either. This place is a MUSTTRY! Delicious, fresh ingredients, and customer service is great here too! Oh, and dont forget to check in for a nice upgraded size… trust me, youll enjoy your large drink.

Seriously, get milk tea here. One of the few not-solely-focused-on-tea places that gets the milk tea right: not too sweet, not so graham crackery-flavored, with deliciously chewy boba. Oh and the prices are unbelievably low for the area. The service is amazing; super sweet people! I got the chocolate eggette, which I loved. I can’t speak to authenticity but it was delicious. Oh and the shop smells amazing; bonus points for that.

Just had a quick stop here to stay warm after getting stranded at the San Mateo Caltrain station. Very friendly service. I didn’t get a chance to try the eggettes but will definitely come back one day for them. Notes: — There was a buy 1 get 1 free drink deal going on as of this posting — Check-in Unilocal offer for a free upgrade to a large size eggette waffle — DIY drink bar as well as regular menu

Way better than the Eggettes on Broadway St. in Millbrae. These guys make their drinks well and they know it as I have never been disappointed. My 40+ stars for this location on Five Stars speaks for itself. They also regularly have BOGO deals on Five Stars which isn’t even needed but is a nice incentive. Note: This eggettes has a different menu than other locations. Pick any drink and you’ll be happy. They especially do the staple drinks very well(green tea, black tea, honey and taro).

I am always hesitant to try eggettes because I am from Hong Kong and I know my eggettes(well sort of since I haven’t been back in years). But I grew up eating authentic eggettes so it’s reasonable for me to be a little scared because I would be so disappointed if it didn’t taste like childhood. I honestly come for their eggettes and their eggettes alone. Sometimes I get the little snacks like curry fish balls and rice cakes, which are also bomb and affordable! For their eggettes, I usually get originally or honey dew. The originally flavored one, to me, is just average. It could sometimes be a little blend. It’s not always a bad thing though. My favorite would have to be the honey dew. The flavor is good and it’s not too overpowering. Overall, this place has my approval! It’s good and definitely feels my childhood foodie void. Note: parking kind of sucks(lol).

Not a fan of the egg puffs. You know when you purchase a bag of chips and it’s half empty? Yeah, that’s what these egg puffs are like. The inside is pretty much hollow. Hong Kong egg puffs have batter inside. Also limited selection. Not much flavor either. But the watermelon freeze is bomb. I recommend getting it without toppings. I feel like toppings will interfere with the authentic watermelon flavor. Super refreshing and sweet despite it being winter.

Four star place but added an additional star for great service. I was grabbing food around the corner at China Bee and decided to drop by this place to check it out. I got the special eggette(coconut flavor) and a HK style milk tea. The pricing was reasonable and totaled around $ 7. Coconut Eggette(4 Stars) –The price($ 3) is more affordable compared to other shops. –Loved the flavor of the eggette and had shredded coconut in the batter. It’s not too sweet so you can totally eat an entire bag without feeling sick. –The outside was crispy on both sides but the inside was a little too crispy in some of the eggettes. Probably because the batter wasn’t poured evenly? –Overall great flavor for what you can get in the states. I haven’t really found anything better at other places nearby. Also, I like how they have special flavors on hand other than chocolate and original. HK Style Milk Tea(4 Stars) –Usually it’s supposed to have a really strong tea flavor but I felt there was too much milk & sugar added which diluted the tea. I’m used to stronger HK style milk teas with very little sugar and milk. –However, their HK style milk tea is still 100x better than other black milk teas you can get in downtown SM(SharedTea/Gong Cha/ChaTime). If you like strong black milk teas, this is a great place to go than the places I listed above. In terms of service, this place gets 5 stars. I accidentally knocked my milk tea off the table with my bag and spilled it all over the floor. The employee at the counter(owner?) was extremely gracious and made me another drink to replace the one I spilled, free of charge. He was professional the entire time and did not treat me any differently after the huge mess I made. I’ll definitely be back!

I was craving for a boba tea and snacks so I decided to Unilocal the closes one to my job. I almost didn’t see this spot since its kind of hidden. The person working was very friendly and helpful as I always ask 101 questions on what’s the best thing on the menu. He recommended me the lychee green tea with boba. So I ordered that and noodle rolls and curry fish balls that were just $ 2.50 each order. Thought that was a steal. I do recommend this spot. The tea was refreshing and delicious, the food was good and parking is never a hassle. Just writing this review makes me want to get one lol

Yum! I came here with my family to get some eggettes(the puff waffles) and some bubble tea. The puff waffles were quite good although I wish the puffs had more dough inside them. They sometimes felt like half-filled with the batter(so if you bite into one, it tastes like half air), but they’re still pretty good. I’d definitely come back for another batch. The bubble tea was interesting. I didn’t specify any sugar options(they didn’t list any I don’t think) and the default bubble tea wasn’t that sweet at all! You can definitely taste the tea for what it is. The tapioca they use is a bit on the smaller side, although still chewy. The ice they use is the crushed ice(less of a fan of this) but whatever, still decent bubble tea.

Obviously for only a few bucks, you really cannot expect really really good food /drinks, I’m giving 5 stars for what you get for the value. This place is not busy(as of now). On a saturday noon, there were a few parking spots outside and there was no line. There are around 8 tables inside and only 3 were occupied. I ordered the $ 3 egg puff and the $ 10 combo — fried chicken, fish ball, shu mai, Rice noodle roll, Imitation shark fin soup. That is quite a lot for two people unless you are very hungry. The hk style milk tea is pretty good favor as well, I always ask for ½ or ¼ sweetness. This place is clean, and very spacious(lots of room between tables). BTW, they use comparatively high quality containers /toothpick /cup for the food /drink. I’ll be coming back if I am around the area and am carving for some snacks /milk tea.

This place is okay. The service was pretty good, the cashier was attentive in listening to my order. I ordered a chocolate egg puff and an oreo freeze with boba. Remember to check in and you can go ahead and upgrade your drop for free. I do like how this place will let your eggpuff rest before putting it into a container to give to you that way the eggpuffs won’t get soggy. The oreo freeze was just okay, a little chunkier than I expected. Overall this placed was just okay.

Yay, I love me some awesome egg puffs! I definitely would agree with other Unilocalers in that this place makes some really wicked eggettes. For $ 3, you get both crunchy and chewy puffs. I’ve definitely had many eggettes in Hong Kong, around the Bay Area, and even made them from scratch! I have to say these are very consistent to Hong Kong’s — the crispiness actually stayed when the eggette cooled down a bit. That’s awesome! I tried Honeydew and Original, and the prices were the same no matter if you get a specialty flavor or original. They also had coconut and chocolate, too. The interior is super spacious with many tables, a TV with some weirdly interesting videos, and a Sega machine! Overall, not a bad spot to go to, especially on a rainy day. Check-in offer still exists as of today, and I would recommend it because they’re so addicting!

Not the best eggette I’ve had outside of Hong Kong but the first I’ve had in South Bay. Try this for an eggier and less sweet alternative to a traditional waffle. Eggettes: noun; a Hong Kong based waffle-like dessert that is made with eggs, sugar, flour and air. Best consumed when hot! These eggettes had a much more doughy taste when cooled down than others I’ve had(I used to have amazing ones in Toronto, Canada). When hot they were warm, airy and soft with a slight chewiness. The batter tasted less eggy than what I’m used to from these treats but much more eggy than a traditional waffle. It’s also mildly sweet at the beginning but tastes just right after a few bites. The batter between the mini puffs was also too crispy to be authentic. I got the original flavor without toppings but I’ll be sure to try their chocolate flavor and specialty flavor sometime too! A scoop of ice cream also wouldn’t hurt. ;) They also looked like they had good milk teas but I never got a chance to try it. Next time.

I’m a regular of Eggette’s delicious freshly made egg puffs. They usually have a flavor of the day but I’d say stick to their original and chocolate as the honeydew is a bit ‘interesting’. The place tends to be not very busy most of the time, so the wait time is usually quite short. They also have a great $ 10 snack combo where you get a nice sampling of crispy chicken, ricerolls, siumais, curry fish balls and mock fin soup.

My favorite drink here is the lemon honey green tea. It’s got just the right amount of tartness as well as sweetness. I enjoy coming here with friends just to catch up over tea, and my boyfriend and I love to come here for dessert on our date nights in San Mateo. We stop by here when we have time to kill before a movie. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The establishment is bright and clean. I’ve tried a cold blueberry lemonade drink during the summer, and it’s so delicious. I like how the drinks here taste especially crisp in sweetness. I am a San Mateo native and this is one of my favorite spots!

Eggettes is a great option for about $ 10, gets you 5 different selections of good eats including soup. :p They also serve milk tea boba and shakes too. There is a cute vending toy for kids to win a prize. Lots of places to sit, and there is a limited parking right in front of the store. I think the best part about Eggettes is you don’t have to break your bank, to eat a good meal. Eggettes is located inside the little alley parking between Donut Delite and Tasty Thai. The easiest way to remember where they are located… they are right across Jeffrey’s Burgers. Until then, Cheers! ~ :p

HOLYSMOKES! Another boba joint in Downtown San Mateo? Well let me admit this is more than just a normal boba spot… this place is legit! Eggettes serves boba drinks made just for you at only $ 3-$ 3.50. They also serve freeze drinks as well as Milk Tea. What really stands out to me is there(DIY) which is where you are able to create your own drink. How neat is that! So far on there menu I have tried: ~Flavored Eggettes(Coconut and chocolate) ~Curry Fish Balls ~Fried Chicken bites ~Rice Rolls The food was good especially the Coconut Eggettes which was my favorite! The menu that they have is easy to read and follow which makes the ordering process really easy! They offer TONS of seating and this place is open late night as well! What a great late night spot to come too in the area. Parking is a little limited but the customer service makes up for it! I definitely look forward to coming to this little Boba spot again as it definitely carries a good name for themselves and I have to try more on the menu! **PS-We definitely need a boba spot like this in the Bay Area**

Parked in the parking lot. Was about to grab my friend at the caltrain station next door, before coming back to buy lemon tea from Eggettes Just as I was about to walk to the station, one of the guys from inside the Eggettes store came out and yelled«hey! you can’t park here!» The sign says 10min parking for customers. I parked for 10 seconds. I didn’t even have a chance to buy something before they kicked me out. You don’t want me to be a customer? Fine. I’ll never be a customer again.

A solid 3 ½ STARS! Eggettes was established in 2001 and was brought to the Bay Area from Hong Kong. Just like Quickly and all the other copycat stores that serve this style of waffle and tapioca drinks(AKABOBAS and Bubble Teas) that came after this place, I can say I prefer Eggettes the most compare to the others. I believe the original location was on El Camino in South City and this one is a great addition to downtown San Mateo. It’s kinda in a hidden spot on a small alley, but it’s right on the corner B Street and 1st Ave. across O’Neill’s Irish Pub and Jeffrey’s Hamburger. Eggettes is known for their egg-shaped waffles that are soft and chewy on the inside and crispy and crunchy on the outside. It’s good for a light snack or dessert, and they come in original, honeydew, chocolate and coconut flavors. I just wished they had coffee or mocha flavor next, but I ain’t complainin’ since these little things are addictive. I keep poppin’ ‘em in my mouth like popcorns and they taste good. Use the check-in feature on Unilocal for their special deal. Last time it was a dollar off for their drinks and this time it’s 1FREE upgrade to Egg-stra size. As for the drinks, I’m not a fan of BOBA and I hate those choking hazard little things called tapioca pearls or balls or whatever you call ‘em. But if waffles are you’re lookin’ for, you’re in the right place.

Had been staring at the Eggette flag poster hanging by the road for awhile now, been wanted to try their Eggette. Finally, we dropped in after a visit to a barber nearby. Was surprised to find such a big shop, especially so for a boba teashop. They even have a few gashapon machines and a toy catcher in the corner. Settled at one of tables before heading to order at the counter. We ordered the original eggettes($ 3). Came fairly quickly. It is best to eat them immediately when they are still hot and toasty. It tasted nice, as per what we expect. After examining their menu further, realized they have other items such as curry fish balls and some other small bites. They had a $ 10 combo which you get to have 1 of each of their small bites. Saw a few tables had ordered the combo. We were too full to try that, probably the next time. And oh, they have a small collection of magazines available for browsering too. The café is well lighted and rather cosy, unpretentious feel. A good place to chill especially when it gets too crowded at Philz.
