Leon is magnificent as previous Unilocalers have noted. However, he does look a little cold to me. If only someone would give him a jacket or a sweater.

You’re strolling through San Mateo’s beautiful Central Park. You see so many sights you’d expect to see in a park –playgrounds, picnic tables, kids kicking soccer balls, lots of greenery and flowers, right? But as you near the Fifth Street entrance, you wouldn’t expect to see this. I mean who would expect to see a life sized statue of a giraffe in a California park? But here it is. It’s thirteen feet tall. It was made of individual copper plates that were welded together to give it the spotted appearance of the real deal. The artist was Albert Guibara, and his statue was dedicated on May 27, 1978. He named the big guy Leon, in honor of his father. The human Leon was probably a great guy, but I know that the copper Leon is just incredible!
