Cheesecake Factory had an hour wait… what’s new? Made our way here and hate to say it but this was my last resort. HOWEVER, I’m glad to report it was a great decision! There really isn’t much to say because they do their job and they do it well. Food was awesome especially the pepperoni and mushroom pizza! Drool. The wait staff is excellent! Great customer service. More often than not I can forgive mediocre food if the service is amazing. Fortunately in this case, I didn’t have to. I would definitely come back, and I promise not to make it a last resort.

The food court is terrible at the mall so I am left with very few options. I visit this Nordstrom café location during my lunch hour and the service is ridiculously slow. It took me 10 min to order and then another 12 – 15 min for the food to arrive. The older gentleman working the register looks really stressed twirling the credit card and takes forever. My order was out but he didn’t realize it which added to my wait time. He’s very nice and polite but I think they should add another person on the register while he is working. On another note, the Asian man and African American manager are very sweet and efficient. However, I do enjoy visiting the Stonestown Nordstrom café much more.

I thought this place is called Nordstrom Café. We love to eat here with kids. Their kids’ menu is delicious and reasonably priced. Margarita pizza and tomato basil soup is a must-try. Their mint chocolate sticks are very delicious. I highly recommend this place for a break from shopping. It has a very nice peaceful environment.

Pros– clean, nice atmosphere. Cons– food was mediocre. I got the omelette. It comes with herb potatoes(which I didn’t really like), wheat toast, with dark berry jam, and some purple grapes, and a few strawberries. More Cons– –no restroom, — it took them forever to make the omelette. — omelette was very small and a little too greasy. — price was $ 8.95, which is ridiculous. — no napkins or utensils are on the tables prior to the food arriving. Tip– get your utensils and napkins before you sit down at the table. Would I ever eat here again? NO.

The people working at the registers aren’t the friendliest, that’s off-putting. The food is ok. Their cookies taste different from other Nordie’s cafes, they’re not as good. The Asian waiter is super sweet!

We love going to Nordstrom Café at Stonestown because of the service and the warmth of the staff there plus the good food. We went to the San Mateo branch and service sucks– slow and not friendly! Food was not good too!

I’ve been to this Marketplace Café before and had a very average meal. Typical service and typical meal. However while walking through Hillsdale Mall my mom and I stopped in to get some food that wasn’t at the food court. For starters I love that their wine selection includes more than just Red or White, and their lunch menu has variety. I ordered the California Grill Sandwich with a side salad and a glass of Rośe. When our waitress Cheryl came to the table to check our receipt and see what we ordered and how things moved along, she informed me that the wine I ordered was good, but she’s received mix reviews from other guests and said since I wasn’t previously offered a sample at the cashier then she would replace my wine if I didn’t like it. Well needless to say Cheryl was correct I didn’t like it and she graciously offered to bring me a glass of any other of my choosing. She recommended on of their Sauvignon Blancs and I took her advice. When she returned she told me they were out and she brought the next best SB they have and apologized for the mixup. She even offered me another glass of wine on her, which I declined. Honestly Cheryl made our entire lunch! My mom and I left talking of her service with a smile and her ABSOLUTELYWONDERFULCUSTOMERSERVICE. She is a great asset to the Marketplace Café, I hope she’s still working there the next time I go there!

The Turkey cranberry sandwich was very good as was the salad that came with it. I did not care for the Tomato soup which was served luke warm even after i sent it back and tried another bowl The seem to serve a decent looking breakfast until about noon. I think it is $ 7.95

Shopping can make one hungry. Where better to put a restaurant than right in the middle of my favorite store – Nordstroms! I love all of the Nordstrom cafes, and especially the ones that still have the EXPRESS cafes. You walk up, reading a paper menu as you do so. Order and pay at the register. Oh, and they will take your Nordstrom’s credit card which gives you points towards rewards. The café will also redeem your reward dollars. Such a deal. The food is simple here – salads, soups, sandwiches. And cookies. If you are feeling like it, wine can be ordered, too. Everything tastes very good. Have a seat and a gracious server picks up the receipt and in short time returns with your food. There is a children’s menu which is perfect when shopping with small people. The kid food is kid friendly. The dining room is spacious, on the third floor, near the children’s shoes.

Great service and delicious food! I would come here any day over the mall’s food court. It’s quiet, kid-friendly, and calm. The food is reasonably priced. Kid meals start at $ 5. My kids love the mac n cheese here. $ 5 gets you the main dish, side of fruit, box of organic raisins, and a kids drink. They also get a pack of crayons and games to play on the menu. My wife and I love the salads here. Fresh, tasty, and under $ 10. I’ve also tried their turkey sandwiches here too. You order at the main counter and the server brings the food out to your table.

I’m so surprised by the positive reviews at this place! I used to be a regular, going every couple weeks, but man the service and food has really gone downhill! I usually get a salad here and they have been horrible the past few times i’ve gone. A couple months ago I went and the salad was so bad(wilted lettuce, no berries, hardly any chicken) that I told myself I wasn’t coming back. Well, I decided to check it out again yesterday and what a mistake! I ordered a berry salad again, with my usual goat cheese substitution. At first I was pleasantly surprised, the salad was full of greens and berries and covered in goat cheese… then, I took a bite and the cheese was rancid! Yuk, I couldn’t eat it. I told the server and she kind of shrugged her shoulders like she didn’t know what to do. She asked if I wanted anything else, but my appetite was completely ruined by this point. She then avoided my table for the next 10 minutes, didn’t ask if we needed water or a box for my daughters meal. I had to get up and ask someone to give us the Maker chocolates that they usually give at the end of your meal, my daughter is so used to them, she won’t leave without having one. All in all, another extremely disappointing experience, which is so at odds with the rest of Nordstrom’s approach to customer service.

when ever i come here i get the santa fe chicken sandwich with a side of salad and balsamic vinaigrette. the only problem that i have with this place is that sandwich is a bit too oily. the lemonade here are also freshly squeezed(okay i can’t say that for sure but its not minute maid) great place to go in the mall for food.

This café is on the third floor, by the BP/Juniors section. They don’t have this café at the Stanford Shopping Center, nor at Valley Fair(both these places have new restaurants instead). The cashiers were friendly, as was my server. I ordered my food and beverage, paid at the front, and seated myself. Then my server showed up to pick up my receipt. She promptly returned with my bottled water and a glass of ice. The Nordstrom bottled water was really good — I almost wanted to ask if they sold it by the case. I ordered the Tuscan Roasted Chicken, which is a gluten-free item. It came with Yukon gold potatoes, bell peppers, carrots, corn on the cob, and zucchini. This dish arrived piping hot(It showed up about after almost half an hour; my server said that the Tuscan Roasted Chicken«always takes forever»). The chicken was well-seasoned with garlic and rosemary, and was cooked just right — it was tender and tasty. The potatoes and vegetables were also seasoned, but not overly so. My server went on a break before I was finished eating, so I didn’t get a chocolate stick at the end of my meal. It wasn’t a big deal to me, because then I had fewer calories to burn off. I will stop by every time that I’m in San Mateo.

Food and services as always been consistent. I prefer these cafes which are far more affordable than the new trendy ones that have popped up at Palo Alto and Westfield at San Jose. The sandwiches, soups, and salads are all good, and you must get the tomato basil soup with anything you decide on. My go two place at Hillsdale after an exhausting afternoon of shopping. You may pay before you get seated but DO leave a tip for the waiters.

You wouldn’t normally think a café in a department store would be good, but surprisingly the Nordstrom café at Hillsdale Mall has very good food and service. I’ve had the Chinese Chicken Salad and the California Panini and they were both really good. The café is tucked away on the third floor. It is clean, quiet, and the wait staff are polite and eager to help. Sure the prices are a little high but you get what you pay for. This Nordstrom Café is much better than the Valley Fair Nordstrom restaurant(Bazille), so I guess each location does not offer the same quality food and service.

All the food is good here! But I keep coming back for the chicken cilantro lime salad! The dressing is amazing. You can order half of any entrée if you don’t think you can finish a full. I always order their tomato bisque soup as well. You order and pay for your food. find a table and one of the servers will bring you your order. You can also pay for the tip if you don’t have cash. Just let the cashier know you would like to leave the tip as they are ringing you up. At the end of each meal, the server will bring a delicious chocolate stick for each person in your party. Sometimes you can also buy the chocolate sticks! So stock up when they offer them.

I always find it interesting that all the Nordstroms have an eatery inside. Some have multiple. Was in the area and decided that the food court was not something I was looking forward to. Headed up the escalator and joined the parade of local mall workers for my mid day meal. Got a split pea soup and the Horseradish Roast Beef with caramelized onion, arugula, tomato, horseradish aïoli, on onion roll. It was pretty tasty though expensive for the portions. Sandwich also comes with some potato chips which went well with the soup. Service is pretty good though my server went on break mid way and there was a bit of a gap. People watching maybe the most interesting thing here as you see all sorts of shoppers and employees. So if the food court is no go, this is a decent alternative. 3.75 stars

I love the food here. It all has a fresh, flavorful, ‘clean’ taste. My go to is the Chinese chicken salad with its light, vibrant rice vinegar dressing. Such a nice switch up from mall food court food. I try very hard to ignore the dessert case. But from the looks, it’s pretty yummy. I can’t see it, I can’t see it, I can’t see it…

Never thought a eatery inside a department store would be so good! I always try to try something new, but I can’t stay away from the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich when I come here — chicken, peppers and avocado between 2 slices of generously oiled bread. I admit. It’s a big on the greasy side, but that’s what makes it so good! And their fresh squeeze lemonade compliments it really well. They also give you a choice of salad or chips to go with your sandwich. I’m usually torn since I love the thick crunchy kettle chips and also the delicious spring salad with their awesome raspberry vinaigrette dressing! I also stole bites of the other sandwiches courtesy of my fam. The caprese sandwich is really good. A tad on the salty side but that’s probably because of the prosciutto. Their California chicken sandwich is really good as well. Simple, but loaded with flavor. Overall, I love all the dishes here. A tad on the pricey side at almost $ 10 a sandwich, but well worth the taste!
