Mathnasium of Laurelwood

My sons absolutely love coming there. I’m not sure what your staff does to make math so fun but my boys are athletes not schoarlors and they ask to go every Tuesday and Friday. I’m so glad we found you. My girlfriend and I have 6 boys that attend from grade 1 to 8^th and we all go a few times a week and they can’t wait to go again. I have had private tutors, group tutors, home tutors and this is the only place they all say in the morning before school drop off. We’re going to Mathnasium today right!!! Thank you

My daughter has been going to Mathnasium for two years. I think it is a good program overall. however I wish they had less cross-​talking in the tutoring area as my daughter gets easily distracted. Also if you are looking for «tutoring» this is NOT the place for you. If you are looking for and adjunct to your child’s math from school it is an acceptable option. We also tried Kumon and hated it. Of the two options, Mathnasium is closer to a tutoring environment.

My son who is in 4^th grade is thriving. He started with 4^th grade math when he joined 6 months ago, but now he’s almost done with 5^th grade math. I like that the ratio of students to a tutor is small (but it depends on the time you attend) and they’re flexible with schedule change. Also, according to my son, tutors explain concepts clearly and well. I’m pretty happy with my son’s progress and my son’s desire to continue Mathnasium says something about the quality of education they provide.

My daughter has been going to Mathnasium since the end of 8^th grade. We knew that her middle school hadn’t prepared her well in algebra or geometry, and we wanted to make sure that she’d be successful taking algebra 2 as a freshman and now precalculus as a sophomore. Jadelyn has been the perfect tutor – fun, insightful, efficient and clear in her ability to explain anything related to math, and my daughter is confident and getting A’s. Thank you Angie for opening a center that has worked so well for us!

My seventh grade daughter has been attending Mathnasium for probably close to a year. She actually looks forward to attending Mathnasium, which says a lot. She loves the added benefit of being able to bring in her math homework or test material and get the help she needs to understand the material & prepare for an exam. I definitely feel like her math skills have improved a great deal, not to mention a remarkable increase of self-​confidence in math. We refer people to Mathnasium all the time!

This center has given my kids so much confidence they didn’t have before! Teachers are friendly and are very patient with all ages groups. My kids are always excited to come here and never complain to get to the car. We came here for remedial math and now we stay to keep always ahead of the class!

Before my daughter started at Mathnasium, she did not like math. There were gaps with her math skill and understand that I just don’t know how to fill them. When my daughter started with Mathnasium, Angie knows exactly how and what area to focus on. A detail plan was given and surly my daughter progress beautifully. With just two hours a week for the past year, my daughter is all caught up and started to enjoy math. The best part is there is no homework and I no longer need to figure out which and why a particular area in math is troublesome for my daughter. My daughter tells me that she «needs» to go to Mathnsaium otherwise, math does not make sense for her.
I highly recommend it and could not be happier.

We considered Kumon, a private tutor and Mathnasium for our two kids when it became clear that they weren’t getting their math needs met at school. We chose Mathnasium for their small size, clear and vetted curriculum, and well-​trained instructors. My youngest needed a stronger foundation in math, and after 9 months of enrollment, she has gained confidence and has been doing well in middle school. My oldest was bored with school math, and Mathnasium has been challenging him with interesting problems and tougher material. It has been a good fit for both of them. My kids always have positive things to say about their dedicated instructors, and they actually have fun at Mathnasium.

After our «STEM» middle school dropped the M, my bright, math-​loving 8^th grader was left with giant holes in his knowledge of algebra and geometry, despite his best efforts to teach himself with online tools. Not wanting him to lose 2 years of math when he started high school, we joined Mathnasium with a one-​month membership we won at an auction. Best auction win ever!
After working with their tutors for 10 sessions over 5 weeks, my son was able to walk into his 9^th grade math assessment completely confident in his abilities in algebra. The tutors, one leaving this summer to pursue a PhD in math, were able to field all of my son’s abstract reasoning and logic questions.
My youngest son is not as excited about math as my oldest. He has not taken to fractions or number sense easily. Mathnasium has put him on the right track.
This center is providing strong math skills in a supportive environment for all 3 of my boys with all their different needs. I couldn’t recommend it more highly. The owner, Angie, is knowledgeable, accommodating and flexible while holding to high standards and expectations for progress.

Angie and her team of tutors at Mathnasium are amazing. My 4^th grade daughter was struggling with math when we started and now, I’m happy to say, she is doing very well at math. Seeing the increase in confidence my daughter now has toward math has made it worth every penny. We had tried a private tutor as well as Kumon before discovering Mathnasium and this place is by far the best. My daughter actually looks forward to attending and I’ve never once heard a complaint from her.

I cannot express how amazing Mathnasium of Laurelwood in San Mateo is and how fantastic the tutors are!!! My 8 year old, 2^nd grade daughter was struggling with math at a very academic school and really hated it. She was performing at a 1^st grade level. Her teacher suggested a tutoring center that teaches math through repetition, but she is a progressive thinker and I knew she wouldn’t respond to that teaching style.
I heard rave reviews about Mathnasium and how they actually spend time tutoring 1 to 1 and up to 3 to 1, teaching students how to solve problems in a way that makes learning math fun. They test your child to see their grade level and work with them from there. We started in November 2013, and by February 2014, my daughter improved to her grade level and all her grades went up in math. She loves going to Mathnasium and working with their tutors! She loves math now and solving problems! She never complains about going there and in fact looks forward to it. What’s even better is they don’t give homework, as she has enough already.
The tutors are phenomenal young adults and many are in college, graduate school or have masters in math from top universities and are teachers. They are enthusiastic about teaching math and the kids respond. They are teaching the kids how to solve problems, not just memorize math. Problem solving is a skill they will actually need to get through math in high school, college and beyond and these tutors are giving the kids the assistance they need to learn how to solve problems.
Angie Yuan, the franchise owner, is wonderful! She is accommodating and flexible and the hours are great and so are the prices. I cannot say enough good things about Mathnasium of Laurelwood! If your child is struggling in math, I highly recommend it.
