Lots of excellent Unilocal reviews brought us here. I have severe allergy and has to be really careful about restaurant food. Alex(Manager) came to our table and make sure I don’t touch any soy. For the first time, I felt the manager care about my shortcoming. Also, our server Anthony was extremely friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Pacific Catch was able to accomodate me with little difficulty. I will come back

I love Pacific Catch my favorite place in San Mateo … I went to dinner again with my boyfriend and we sat on the dining room. Again we found Anthony as our server. He was amazing and very welcoming. Anthony check back on us often. We ordered some appetizers and drinks they were fantastic specially the poke. Also, we try the Opah special. please try those for sure… And they were perfectly cooked … In addition to their best server. I would also like to mention their General Manager Alex. He was very friendly and he care. The restaurant is lucky to have Alex around. His staff seems to be response to him very well. When I chat with Anthony about his manager, he said Alex is his favorite manager.

Very skipmy with the meat in th Korean BBQ bowl. For the price I would have expected a better portion. Disappointed as I have gotten better BBQ bowl from $ 10 food truck

This restaurant has some of the BEST food, hands down! I’m actually surprised at the 31⁄2 stars, where restaurants adjacent to Pacific Catch with similar menu items get better reviews, but their food is NOT better, in fact, one of the restaurants is doing so poorly they’re closing their doors. Strange how that works. Been here more that 6 times, and each time the food was excellent, the service was stellar, and the ambience was fun and wonderful! All of the wait staff are attentive and I especially would like to mention Julio, Crystal, Jade, and the rest of the names of staff escape me, WANDA the manager was great! What a fun bunch! The items I’ve ordered were: house salad, YUM!, Thai Curry Rice bowl WOW!, Korean Barbecue Rice bowl AMAZING, and the list goes on… their spicy fries are so goooooooodddd! Anyhow, I will say this one last thing: don’t take too seriously what some of the poor reviews are, some diners can be über picky or just have a different palate, and I get it, but it is about perception too and what preferences are. So please give them a try.

My boyfriend and I sat down at the bar area, and it took 15 minutes to get water. When asked what we would like to drink after waiting 20 minutes, we ordered and were asked for our IDS. When the waiter looked at my ID, he said it looked«off» proceeded to ask my boyfriend for his ID back, held them both up to the light and after looking at the ID and discussing with us why it looked off for 2 – 3 minutes, finally took it to the manager. This would have not made me so upset however the manager came to our table and proceeded to do the same the waiter did, holding the ID up to the light, telling me all the reasons it looked«off». After another few minutes of this and drawing attention to our situation for all the surrounding customers — I had enough and said to give me my ID back and we would take our business else where. The only reason they get 1 star is because they apologized and gave me my drink. Considering the amount of time it took us to get our food, how the waiter handled the ID situation and the quality of the food. I would not give this place a good rating. Many times when I looked up to find our waiter to ask for more water, a check, etc. — our waiter along with the manager and other waiters were usually in the corner near the register chatting or hanging out instead of paying attention to the customers. The waiters and manager at this restaurant are unprofessional. The food is not of good quality and they insult customers.

I was contacted by Mary, business manager of Pacific Catch, and to my surprise, she surprised me by offering us a complimentary lunch. We appreciate her reaching out to us and ensures our next visit will be great. We have not returned yet, but for her prompt response and being considerate, I had to raise rating to 4 Stars, we will be having lunch there soon. Looking forward to it. Thank You Mary,

I ordered a pick up at 11 am through there website. Lady was surprised that there is an option of ordering by the website(there own website, with menu and location!) after i proved with my receipt that i ordered two meals she«checked information» in the kitchen. it was pretty obvious my order didn’t get there and they just started cooking. when i ask when my food will be ready I was ignored. after 30 min of waiting she call my name, I thought food is ready. this time she wanted me to pay(even if i just show her my receipt earlier). then she ask me to sit again, pretending everything is ok. it seemed that restaurant was very busy, i wasn’t the only one waiting –maybe they need more people? Or even better — they should forget about«pick up» option, if they have problem with noticing orders. the worst part is, when i get my food(lady wasn’t sure what i ordered again) it was cold. my coffee, that I left at work to pick up lunch, was icy coffee too. nobody offered me recompense. *** Edit: they just contact me with an offert of recompense, so there is a chance my opinion will change soon.

This place offers really good happy hour! We ordered several dishes and were very pleased with all of them. The inside, outside roll, beef taco, chicken taco, and seasoned french fries. They do not charge for sparkling water, which is a plus because we prefer fizz over still. The restaurant offers plenty of seating from tables to booths and the bar area is nice too! Highly recommend this place if you want fresh seafood!

TL;DR — Service here is a complete joke. Now I get the low rating. I wanted to try the HH because I had time to kill. The service is abhorrent. It took 30 minutes(at the start of happy hour) to bring out one order of sushi. Seriously. The place wasn’t packed and instead of serving, the waitstaff were chit chatting with the bartenders. No. Just… no.

I want to come back! Food: fair prices, delicious food, decent amount of food too! Service: excellent. The server we had on 5÷7÷16 around 8pm was awesome. He was chill, and on top of his game as a server. Good suggestions and explained stuff to me that I didn’t know lol No wait time to be seated. Atmosphere: was very nice. Good so that it would be a nice date night, however at the bar the basketball game was on! So that was really unique and nice. Overall: 4.5÷5 stars for me!

I love this place. That have fresh fish and great poke. Skirt steak is delicious as well. Great service every time we go. I really like one of the managers, I think Wanda, she’s a joy to chat with.

This is my FAVORITE happy hour spot in San Mateo. Their tacos are delicious, I have tried them all and have yet to be disappointed. I also get their spicy sweet potato fries(not on the menu) every visit. Their drinks here are strong so beware but they are delicious. As far as non happy hour, it can be a little expensive but it is seafood so for the quality, it is okay priced.

It’s interesting. I just wrote a 2-star review for Pokeatery(just down the block) because I was surprised Pokeatery had 4-stars on Unilocal. Now I’m even more shocked that Pacific Catch, which is wayyyyyy better, only has 3.5 stars on Unilocal! Love the sweet potato fries here. LOVE the ahi tuna poke wasabi bowls here. I’ve always been a fan of Pacific Catch, but wanted to try Pokeatery since it was new in the neighborhood. Would much much rather pay a few bucks more for Pacific Catch, for much higher quality and much more quantity, than the $ 12 something at Pokeatery which in general just lacked taste.

Not happy with the entire experience: 1) the food was nothing special, was just average… considering the previous reviews I was expecting much more 2)we waited long even if the restaurant was almost empty 3) the service was poor, our waitress was not attentive and kind, we were just a «number» :(((

«Meh. I’ve experienced better.» just about sums it up. The food was edible. The price was ridiculous. I am pretty sure I’m paying for the upscale décor and not the food. It’s glamorized fish people. Fish. We’ve all had chewy shrimp before. It’s nothing to rave about. It didn’t get me sick so I added a star. I’ve been twice. I was reluctant to go the second time lol. I won’t be back. There’s just too many other amazing places in San Mateo to return.

3.5 stars but rounding down since it wasn’t quite 4 stars based on what we tried. I’d been wanting to check out Pacific Catch for a while now since they’ve been opening up all over the Bay Area, and finally had the opportunity to come for dinner. We came on a Wednesday night around 7pm, and they were definitely busy, so I would highly recommend making reservations just in case. We tried: –Cabo Calamari(Crispy Calamari, Lemon Slices, Fresno Chilies, Chipotle Aioli): Solid version of calamari, and the chipotle aioli was good. I also liked the fried lemon slices(unique) and Fresno chilies– recommended! –Korean Barbecue(w/Sticky Ribs, Green Onion Panchan, Seasoned Cucumber, Shredded Omelette, Daikon Sprouts, Shredded Nori, Korean BBQ Sauce, ): I chose the option with half rice half salad and am so glad that I did! There was still a ton of rice, and I liked that I had some greens to offset the carbs and meat. The ribs were just ok– the meat was nice and tender, but I didn’t like the sweet sauce. I would get the bowl again, but choose a different protein next time. –Mixed Catch Basket(2 Pieces of Alaskan Cod, 3 Thai Coconut Shrimp, 3 Crispy Oysters, Jalapeño Tartar, Served w/Sweet Potato Fries, ): Solid– all of the fried foods were cooked well, and I liked that they were also seasoned. The tartar sauce is one of the better versions I’ve had in a while, and the sweet potato fries were also solid– recommended! I really regret not ordering the Hawaiian Poke, and will have to come back to give this a try along with their sushi options. Service was a bit lacking– our server was efficient, but lacked warmth. At least the food came out quickly. Parking can be tough in this area during the lunch and dinner rush, but there are plenty of parking lots in addition to the limited street parking available.

We have enjoyed other locations of Pacific Catch a bit better than this one. Very busy and the wait was a bit too long, not only to get seated but also for the food, refills etc. The sampler platter with seasoned fries was overly greasy and the fries overly salty, I have had that better. Regular fries are much better here, huge portion just the salt really gets to you after a few. Nice ambiance, perfect for a date. They have a great menu and I know we have had better food here, pass on the fries stuff next time and come earlier in the day and this might have been better.

Decent food for a chain restaurant. The grilled ahi tuna tasted fine but the fish was well done, rendering it a bit hard. The grilled flank steak rice bowl was pretty good. It again the meat was well done and on the tougher side as a result. It would be a good idea for the restaurant to work at not over cooking the meat and fish. I like the seasonings and the brown rice. The portions are on the small side considering the prices. Service was good. The wine list offers some good choices. I recommend making a reservation to avoid a wait.

I reviewed this place a couple of years ago, not long after it opened, but accidentally placed it under the Pacific Catch in Campbell. I said then I didn’t know if I’d be back, and now, after my second visit, I know there will not be a third time there. I like the interior design, and the prices aren’t bad, but for me it’s mostly about the food, and this didn’t hold up. I got a daily special, crab melt sandwich, which came with slaw and fries. They let me substitute a salad for the fries. The sandwich was grilled, but came out kind of doughy and soggy. The«crab salad» had absolutely no crab flavor and there wasn’t much of it. There was lots of cheddar which overpowered what whiff of seafood might have been there. The salad was pretty, and I liked the components, but the way they arranged it in the bowl(which by the way looked like it had been made at least several hours earlier) made it nearly impossible to eat. The best thing on the plate was the slaw, but they still give you only about 2 tablespoons of it still. The most amusing part of the meal was when I requested salt and pepper, the waiter went back to the station and he had to portion some out in a dish for me. He gave me literally about an eighth of a teaspoon of salt and so little pepper, I couldn’t even see it at first! He was well meaning and much nicer than the server I had last time, but seemed very harried.

I love Pacific Catch! My girlfriend gets tired of it, we eat there so often, but it’s such a comfort to me. The service is always great. It’s nice to sit in a booth or in the bar at the high table. And you always get enough to eat. I love coming here after a hard workout and getting a lot of protein and big glass of wine. Their half carafes are good to share with three if you only want a taste of wine, not a whole glass. I used to only order the bowls, Hawaiian Poke is my favorite, because they have all of my favorite flavors from sushi. Rice, sashimi, seaweed salad, avocado, pickled ginger, and salad. What’s not to love? But then I had the tacos and now I crave Pacific Catch tacos! The fries are fantastic too but they don’t have ketchup or ranch dressing so they bring them with nothing. You can ask for the spicy sauce that comes on the tacos though and it’s wonderful. Two tacos are only $ 12 and so satisfying.
