Parlour 151

I just want to start off by saying that I was completely traumatized by my last hair appointment that turned disastrous at a different high profile salon in SF. With that said I was nervous about fixing my hair this time around. As luck would have it I was able to get a last minute appt. with Alex, who is only there on Saturdays and tends to get a lot of walk ins for that reason. She transformed my hair. The last salon left my hair falling out clumps and damaged but she was able to fix it and make it look amazing. Thank you so much! I will definitely only trust her with my hair from now on. Lesson Learned.

I had visited this salon based on a recommendation from a friend. I had a haircut with Tiffani, and she was awesome. Such a nice person and gave such a wonderful haircut. Because she’s an awesome stylist, my review is for the salon and how appointments are taken and kept (in my case, not kept).
I had scheduled an appointment a month or so in advance with Tiffani. But, I had to switch the appointment, so I called a few weeks before my appointment and spoke with a receptionist, who I thought had changed the appointment to a different day. On the day of my haircut, I was surprised that I didn’t get a call or a reminder re my haircut. So, I called the salon, and I was told that I didn’t have an appointment (so the receptionist didn’t change my appointment) and there were no accommodations made for an appointment that was supposed to have. Annoying, but no big deal. But, then …
I rescheduled my appointment to another day — today. My appointment was for noon, but less than an hour before my appointment, I get a phone call from the salon that Tiffani can’t make the appointment because she’s sick.
I totally understand that people get sick, but what I don’t understand is how the salon doesn’t have a policy to ensure that if an appointment is missed due to a stylist’s absence that I don’t have any options to get a haircut that same day. I had made this appointment so that I had a haircut before a trip, and now I’m scrambling to find someone to cut and color my hair. Had today’s missed appointment happened by itself, it wouldn’t have been a big deal (or if the first missed appointment had only happened), but considering my first appointment was also not properly made and kept, I will not be returning to this salon.

I am very satisfied with my experience here. I had a regular trim with a little detailed bang cut and Tiffany did it very carefully and thoroughly (almost half hour just for my bang alone). My hair is growing out beautifully on the front and back and surprisingly, the longer bang doesn’t annoy me like before when it started growing out. Tiffany is lovely we talked about almost everything. My boyfriend once had a cut here with Bobby and he liked it very much too. I will come back for more haircuts and hair color in the future.

I went in to Parlour 151 the other day because I had a haircut appointment with the lovely Sevon Caneri.
First off, let me say — I love the vibe of the salon! So cute/​retro with a calm ambiance (and very clean!)
Sevon greeted me with her beautiful, upbeat energy and made me feel very comfortable while waiting for my appointment (I was fairly early).
I was extremely unhappy with the cut I had, and asked Sevon to fix it for me. She did so in an efficient manner, and made my hair look great!
I have naturally wavy hair, so an even cut is crucial when I do the «air dry» ordeal. :)
Anyway, Sevon is definitely a professional and I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a quality haircut. 5 stars… ABSOLUTELY. :) :)

This is a great salon, conveniently located in downtown San Mateo with a huge parking garage directly behind it and many boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops nearby. The stylists are a skilled group that seem to be great friends as well as colleagues, celebrating each others’ birthdays and other important occasions with genuine warmth and style.
For over 15 years, Bobby Kalos has been «my» stylist Not only is he a delightful person, but he is incredibly skilled at handling difficult hair. He is the only stylist I have found in 20 years who has the ability to transform my fine, chemo-​frizzed hair into soft, gentle waves, and he is an especially talented colorist. I have never found anyone else who has cared enough about his/​her «craft» to tackle the challenges my hair presents, so if his career has taken him to a different salon, I have followed him. You cannot go wrong with Bobby – you will leave Parlour 151 looking great and feeling as if you have just had a visit with one of your best friends!

I was so excited to reconnect with Sevon after many years of going to other places due to moving out of the area. She squeezed me in at the last minute and did a fabulous job with both my cut and color. I recently chopped off all my hair and have been going through the long process of growing it out. I think I will survive thanks to Sevon. She is sweet, hilarious, and truly talented. I highly recommend her and am so happy I found my way back to her for my hair after all these years!

My beloved former stylist of about 15+ years moved out of the area, and I have been slow-​going in finding someone new. I finally had to bite the bullet and get a cut. Parlour 151 came up at the top of my results, so I looked into them a bit more and decided to go for it.
Using their online reservation system, I was able to find a time that worked for me. I got a text letting me know I was booked, as well as a reminder text. Loved this! Made things so simple.
The salon itself is adorable. Feels feminine but not frou-​frou.
My appointment with Tara was great! My cut was just a trim, but she did exactly what I wanted. And she gave me an excellent blow dry!!! She really took the time to do it right. As she worked, I watched and I was thinking: «That’s MY hair? Oh my gosh, that’s MY HAIR!» It looked so pretty! Natural but smooth and full of body.
I’m very happy with my cut. I’d definitely return!

Just received an amazing cut and highlights from Sevon! It’s a new year, so I decided now’s the time to try something different. Sevon took the time to learn about what I wanted and she delivered a fabulous look. Exactly what I wanted and better. She was professional, meticulous and made sure every grey was covered… that alone is worth the dreadful drive from San Francisco. Would definitely recommend Sevon. Love my new look!

Because of great reviews on Sevon, I decided to call and make an
was my first time and she was booked for 3 days, so I decided to leave a message with the receptionist. Sevon called me back within the hour. and accommodated me! It was worth the wait ! It was the best cut and color ever.

I think Sevon may be off her game a bit, as her cuts are getting more choppy and inconsistent. I was shocked when she was looking over my hair prior to a cut and admonished, «Who cut your hair last time? This is awful — doesn’t blend at all.» I didn’t want to say it, but it was her, if fact, that last cut my hair. Awkward! I’m sure she’ll be back in the game soon — probably just a bad spell.
The salon is very nice, quiet, and clean. Parking is by meter (coins only) or using the pay-​by-​space garage in the back of the salon (cash only). Sevon only takes cash or checks too, by the way.

Tiffani is the best of the best! I’ve only seen her twice but every freakin time — I walk out super happy with my hair results.
The first time I visited, I just needed a hair cut and I asked for layers. It’s always a hit or miss with haircuts, and honestly, I didn’t have much expectations. Tiffani started off with analyzing my hair length and looking at the outgrown layers I already had. She then told me my hair was at disconnected lengths and wanted to help me with that. After half an hour, I got my layers corrected and walked out a VERY happy customer.
The second time I visited her, I just wanted to cut off my dry ombré ends, go darker but lighter, if that makes sense and just get a different look — basically anything other than ombré! I showed her a picture and she was determined to get me that color and of course give me some layers again. In the middle of the hair cut, I was just curious about purple dye because I’ve thought about it before. Tiffani was great, there was no pressure to do it that day but she wanted to show me how the purple would look on my hair, so she gave me a hair sample. That day, I was like heck — why not?!
Tiffani mixed colors and showed me the shades she mixed and made sure I liked the shade before going further. After 6 hours and lots of talking and sitting, I came out with everything I wanted — color and cut! AMAZING! Thanks, Tiffani!

This review is for Sevon. I went to see Sevon after a hair disaster from a stylist who ruined my hair color and was not willing to fix it. I was able to make an appointment right away, and Sevon brought my hair back to life and got me the hair color I wanted. I could not be happier with the service and the professionalism. First time here and I loved the service from everyone at the salon. Super sweet and nice. They all worked very well together and had that teamwork ethic that I’ve never experienced at any other salon. Sevon color and cut my hair she did a wonderful job and I am pleased with the results.

I absolutely love this place and Tiffany is the best!!! I was just there yesterday and I love my cut. She also does an outstanding job with color. I Have Referred several people to her and everyone is extremely happy. I went from a blond to a red head with bold chunky blond highlights people stop to ask me were I get my hair done. Trust me you won’t be disappointed!!!

Great location, fantastic stylists, immaculate (and beautiful) facility. What more could you want in a salon? Right in the heart of downtown San Mateo, Parlour 151 is a great new addition to this bustling town. The décor is super cute and trendy. The stylists are all very experienced from working in the industry for years. They have online booking, which is something I haven’t seen at other upscale salons. The stylists are all happy and love working there. You can tell the difference from the vibe there. Everyone gets along and is upbeat.
If you want fantastic color service, ask for Sevon. She has been my stylist for 14 years now and I love her! She really has the training and knowledge to really help your hair look its best. She is always on her game and consistent. I highly recommend her and will continue sending her new clients!
