Rana’s Academy of Dance

All the teachers are amazing! The studio is bright and clean. Rana (the teacher and owner) is so sweet and patient with the kids and Daryl (the ofice manager) is very kind and helpful. We absolutely love this studio.

Rana, her teachers and staff are friendly, professional and welcoming to students of all levels and all ages. My granddaughter has been taking classes here for a few years and I believe her love of dance is because of Rana’s excellent dance skills, teaching techniques and creative choreography. The school is just absolutely amazing!

My child loves coming here. Teacher (owner) Rana and office manager Daryl are wonderful and very kind. Rana speaks softly and gently to the children but can also keep them in line:) My child loves to quote her «You get what you get and you don’t get upset». We’ve used this quote at home to my advantage.
The yearly recital is a huge deal and I was so surprised to see how organized and professional it was. It was a packed house in a beautiful theater. This year I am inviting all the grandparents and aunts to go.
I’ve told few friends about this place and they all liked it and enrolled their child as well.

Teachers are amazing. Classes are amazing. Recital. Amazing. What more would you like to know? Daughter started there when she was three w/​dance exploration, now into ballet/​tap. She loves it. Really awesome people here.

Rana’s Academy of Dance is perfect both new and experienced dancers. My daughter has been taking classes here for a little over a year now and she has learned so much from Rana. Rana is a excellent teacher who really has a passion for teaching dance and loves children. I love that she keeps her classes small so she can focus on every student. Before coming to Rana’s Academy my daughter had no experience in dance. Now a year later my daughter has shown a tremendous amount of growth under Rana’s teaching. Rana has regularly has recitals for all her students and every recital always has excellent choreography, costumes, and music. My daughter just had a beautiful recital this past weekend. All of the students did great and it was a very well put together show in a very nice theater. I’m looking forward to my daughters next recital and continuing to watch her grow at this studio. I highly recommend Rana’s Academy of Dance its wonderful place for children of all ages and levels of dance!

Good things: studio clean, bright, professional, Rana and Darryl were very kind, responsive and professional, my daughter’s dance teacher was patient and her own dance technique looked amazing, close to home, affordable. My daughter loved the recital and was well cared for while she waited for her routine.
Things i wasn’t fond of:
My daughter’s dance teacher needed some help with the necessary socioemotional teaching skills to effectively intervene with 4 year olds in order to establish respected authority and maintain order in the class without passive aggressive communications. I really believe teachers are in a strong modeling position and comments like «wrong answer!» In a condescending/​sarcastic tone are inappropriate, especially to a 4 y.o. I don’t expect dance teachers to be child development whizzes but it does appear our teacher would be helped by a child development class or a teaching class.
I also didn’t like that parents are provided no information about what to expect if you do the recital. There is no schedule of the actual event or rehearsal provided to parents and so myself and my 4 year old sat waiting to dance for rehearsal for 1 hour and 45 minutes. No one told us anything! In addition, for the actual recital, the littles have to show up an hour before the event even begins and sit in a back room (well stocked with volunteers, snacks, movie). Fine if your on first but we were near end of show so 2.5 hours of waiting! This could be scheduled more effectively so kids don’t blow up and parents don’t waste hours of their time. I would have been much more into it if there was a «what to expect» email or 10 minute session for parents.
Overall: My daughter got a good lesson in the discipline required to stick with something for a year and perform in a recital. She picked up some dance skills and had a blast at the recital. Some months were tough with motivation to attend and participate in the lessons — probably a combo of 4y.o. interest and a little bit of teaching strategy.

My older daughter has been dancing at Rana’s for 2 years now. She loves it!!!
The classes at her level are very small so they get a lot of individual attention !!
My younger daughter also takes tap there now and is doing very well!

Rana ‘s Academy of Dance is awesome. Rana is great with the kids, makes sure all the kids learn and gets them all to pay attention. She truly has a passion for dance and teaching girls to dance it shows because this is what she loves. I had 2 daughters that attended dance for the last 2.5 years and I always recommend others to try it out.

Rana’s Academy of Dance is a positive dance environment with all the technical training and professionalism. The teachers encourage the students to learn and have fun without the negative stress of unhealthy eating disorders like other studios I’ve heard of. Each year culminates in a beautiful recital that showcases the students’ skills and spirit. I highly recommend this studio to parents who want their children to love to dance.

Ever since my little girl was 2, she wanted to be a ballerina. She would dance with DVD’s, and enjoy herself for a long period of time. We took her to various dance studios, but they were a bit far to commit long term. So when I found Rana’s, I was thrilled. it was clean, feels safe, very close to home, and i loved the 1^st trial lesson. I was thoroughly impressed by Rana and her teaching. I brought 4 other friends to join, too. I thought we’d be there for a long time.
We first enrolled in Ballet/​Jazz combo. my daughter complained that it was too long and she didn’t like the Jazz. I thought it was just because that she didn’t like the Jazz style dancing. So we switched to Ballet only. The year progressed and it was increasingly hard to bring her to class. She seemed to not enjoy her class, which I am not sure why. She asks to go back to another place we’ve gone to before. She missed a few classes due to illness or travel, and they’ve always been accommodating about makeup lessons. That is, all the way until May. We accumulated some missing classes due to spring break and flus. when I asked about bringing her to make up classes, all the sudden it became very difficult. I understood that due to rehearsing for the June recital, they devote half class to rehearsal. of the 3 missing classes, we were allowed to make up 2 with only half classes, and the last one was just email back and forth and it got really difficult to communicate. I finally just decided not to make it up. and the experience was not a happy one.
Originally we had planned to bring her back to another year of ballet or another combo class, but since it was a drag having to convince my daughter, then a drag dealing with the Studio owner, it was just easier to forget it.
I still think highly of Rana, and love the front desk. can’t say the same about the studio owner, and am sorry that the experience didn’t foster my daughter’s interest in dancing.

Ever since my niece was 2 she loved to dance! When she turned 3 I enrolled her in Dance Discovery at Rana’s Academy of Dance. My niece was extremely shy at first, but Teacher Rana knew just the trick to get her to open up! Rana was able to provide my niece with the attention she needed to adjust without compromising the experience for the remainder of the children in the class. She is highly professional and very talented and thanks to Rana my niece has opened up and not only during dance class but outside as well.
Additionally, the studio is gorgeous! I have been to other dance studios in the past and they lack the cute décor that Rana’s Academy has. The dance floor is of high quality and it gives me ease of mind knowing that my niece is dancing on a professional dance floor.
I am currently pregnant with a little girl and I cannot wait until she is older so I can enroll her at Rana’s Academy of Dance!

My daughter has been taking dance classes with Rana for two years. We had tried two other dance schools before joining Rana ’ s Academy of Dance. I was so grateful my daughter finally felt comfortable and excited having Rana as a dance teacher. This dance Academy is perfect for us. The customer service I have received has been outstanding! In addition, the dance recitals have been fantastic!

The kids love it here. The only problem is that they won’t stop dancing. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable as well.

I started my daughter at Rana’s when we moved to the area in back in September. My daughter loves the class she takes ballet and tap combo. They keep the curtain shut — I did not know how felt about this when we first started but now I really do love it and it keeps the little girls focused on what they are there to do. The classes are small so the students get really great feedback from Rana. I love that she has a real dance floor. I love that the girls are doing actual bar work and learning the basics of ballet all I can say is my daughter looks forward to this class every week. I also commend Rana for having the patience of an angel… little girls talking about princesses all the time could get to anyone else but not Rana… always smiling and giving them her best. Keep up the good work!

I brought my two year old to the Dance Discovery class and was beyond impressed. We signed her up on the spot. The studio is well designed and extremely clean. Rana and her entire staff are courteous and kind. They truly put the kids first.
I love how there is a curtain to keep the class private, but at the same time allows the parents to hear everything that is going on. This curtain is especially wonderful for the littlest kids who are learning to be separated from their parents.
The best part to me about Rana’s Academy of Dance is that my daughter loves it.

Before signing up with Rana’s Academy of Dance, I took my daughter who was almost 2.5 yrs old at the time, to another dance studio which we ended up leaving after 2 sessions as our experience there was negative. The difference between Rana’s and the other studio we went to was NIGHT and DAY! After doing a trial class with Rana, both my daughter and I were absolutely happy and signed up immediately & we are still with her 8 months laster. Why we LOVE Rana:
* Class size is SMALL — very important factor with children raging from 2 – 4 yrs old.
* Dance floor is amazing as it’s a real dance floor!
* Her personality and instruction method is the right balance to engage the children.
* She allows the children to really learn dance techniques with repetition and one-​one guidance as needed.
* Studio is fresh, clean and tidy.
* She runs her business professionally and has a very warm demeanor.
My child is slow to warm and can be clingy, I am very proud of my daughter who can go into her class session and not look back or want me during class. I am able to see my daughter’s progress during her class time as all the waiting adults in our class seem to know how to read the posted rules and abide by them (some of adults step out if needed) but really, I don’t see what the problem is with the other parent who posted a bad review — Rana is easy to talk to.
Bottom line, I am a picky mom and highly recommend Rana. And I must say that I applaud Rana for running her studio the way she does when it’s class time for the children. When class is in session, IT IS NOT PARENT SOCIALIZATION time! Step outside, or plan a playdate so your kids can play and the adults can chat. Please be respectful of the class time environment, it’s disruptive to the young dancers and it’s a shame if the adults waiting can’t model appropriate behavior.
PS — Thank you Rana for being a positive role model for my daughter who indeed knows how to gauge people and their personalities (she didn’t take to the other dance studio instructor at all)!!!

I moved my daughter from Small Fry to Rana’s in Dec. simply for location. I recently took her out of Rana’s and look forward to returning to Small Fry. The customer service at Rana’s is appalling. When appropriate feedback was given, there was no response. Rana’s husband (owner) requires that the curtains are closed which prevents parents from watching. Anyone who is unable to work in the open without parents watching should NOT be working with kids. In addition, the recital is very unorganized. Nothing is perfect. There are many options out there. At least choose a buisness that is professional and courteous to its customers who set a positive role model for your child.

My daughter is 2.5 years old, and we did trial classes at 3 different studios to find the best ballet class for her.
We ended up choosing Rana’s Academy for several reasons. For one, the class size wasn’t too large, there are on average of 5 girls with 1 or 2 instructors. Also the class has a nice balance of teaching ballet techniques (without being too technical for her age group, like other studios), to showing them fun, age appropriate dances. Also the age range for this class is only 2 – 4, whereas another studio was 2 – 6, making the discrepancy between the girls’ dancing abilities very large.
My daughter was very timid for the first few classes, and Rana was very understanding and patient at helping her adjust. She would let me sit in the studio until my daughter was comfortable enough for me to slip out unnoticed. Highly recommend this studio for little girls!

I attended my first Zumba class on Tuesday with my daughter and granddaughter and it was awesome!
Rana is an amazing dancer and instructor. My classes are every Tuesday and Thursday. I want be able to attend today but I can’t wait to get back Tuesday. If you want a good dance cardio workout checkout at Rana’s!
