The man working at the smog garage was unwilling to help someone in need and was plainly rude.
I asked him to borrow a tool (pliers) for 30 seconds so i could take my car antenna off.
He first said no due to liability. I tried to reason with him and asked him if there was any way he could help me. He proceeded to lecture me about coming to his business and asking for help and not paying anything. It felt like he was trying to draw me into a shouting match, from which i refrained.
Instead i went across the street to the other smog garage where the guy working there didn’t bat an eye, tossed me some pliers and i was on my way 10 seconds later after thanking him. You can find my review of his business as well.

I was pumping gas at this station, pulled put the hose, NO DRIPS, and the meter kept rolling! The attendant thought it was a big joke!

Meh for sure. Decent place but not the best, convenient and right off the freeway. Not super clean either.

Be sure to make an appointment first and then you’ll be in and out in 15 minutes. The service is prompt and friendly, a bit on the pricey side, but makes the hassle of having to go to a test-​only location (per the CA DMV) painless. I would definitely recommend this spot.

This is one of the stations that the state can require you go to for testing if you need a gold star station or whatever. (It will tell you on your notice).
It’s only open 8 — 5 M — F. I don’t understand how they can keep those hours AND be a place that the state makes you go to.
Aside from that, the place reeked of cigarette smoke.
The only upside was that they were fast.

Cost was a little pricey.
I was in and out in like 15 mins though.
SO nice! 5 other places had waits of 30 mins or more!
I passed, they took care of it all.

I received a coupon in the mail for $ 39.99. Since they open on Sundays, I decided to give this place a try despite their reviews. I called at 11:15 to find out they closed at noon. They guy told me that he could take one more car, so if I got there before anyone else, he would take me. Luckily, I made it in time. There were 3 cars in front of me, but I was in & out within 45 minutes. I think the guy really wanted to leave on time. The service was mediocre, but they got the job done and that’s all I was looking for.

Not bad. Smog check took about 30 min and cost $ 58 for the test + cert. They have 2 bays for doing smog checks, so i dont think you’ll have to wait very long.
Would have given 5 stars, but there’s no waiting room. Not really a problem as there’s a starbucks across the street.

This is in the back of the Arco station… first sign something isn’t quality about the place ;) To hear the full story of my smog saga, read my review of Quik Smog. The long and short of it is that these guys were unhelpful idiots. I called in the day before for an appointment, and told them then that my car was a 1999 VW Cabrio. Guy says, «Ok see you tomorrow.»
Tomorrow rolls around and I show up. First of all I didn’t really know where to go — but there’s an office at the left part of the backside of the garage. The guy said «Wait here» and went out to my car. He took one look at it, came back, and said, «I can’t test this.» I’m like, «Excuse me?» and so he explains that according to Appendix J VWs with aftermarket stereos destroy the testing equipment and you can’t test them. I’m like, «So what do I do?» and the idiot suggests reinstalling the factory stereo, as if anyone keeps around useless junk like that. I tell him I don’t have it anymore, and he says, «Well I don’t know what to tell you then.» And I am just like, I cannot believe I ended up with such a stupid person. I can understand (sort of) not being experienced with this particular footnote, but you could at least suggest I call my mechanic and ask him — or how about the day before, when I made the appointment, why didn’t you ask me whether I had an aftermarket stereo? I left there irritated and frustrated, and almost panicky about how I was supposed to get it done in time.
Enter Quik Smog, down the street a few blocks. They made everything better! Arco’s only worth it if there’s literally no one else open.

I was selling my car so I needed a smog test done really quickly, i.e. that day. That day was a Sunday, so most places were shut (and most places didn’t even have an answerphone to tell me that they weren’t open or weren’t able to take a message — geeze, this is 2007, get modern!).
I called at 9:30am and got an appointment for 11am. Showed up and no-​one was there. Weird. Walked around into the gas station portion and the dude there hardly spoke Engrish, but pointed me to the back of the shop, whence I came. Duh!
Dragged the dude back there to show him noone was there, but his Engrish was too poor. He just pointed and stared at the empty shop.
So trotted into the shop and into the backroom area where no mere mortals are normally allowed and bellowed around like only an annoying white guy can do. Imperialists, eat your heart out!
Aaanyway, finally found the guy and he was helpful but all along he was on his cell phone (using a hands-​free headset). The whole testing shebang only took about 10 – 15 minutes. Not to be coughed at!
And wohey, I even passed!

They charge a very competitive rate at $ 49.75 + $ 8 for the smog certificate, with free retest if it failed and needed to be repaired (they don’t do the repairs though). I had a $ 10 coupon, which made it even cheaper. =)
I dropped in around 8:45am and no one else was waiting, so he serviced my car straight away. Connected the computer to the OBD in my car, then stepped in and revved the car on the stationary wheels to 15mph and 25mph, fuel cap pressure test, and so on. In and out in 15 minutes.
