Adeline is fantastic !!! Just got my hairtastrophe handled here per recommendation of a friend and couldn’t be happier! Adeline fixed my uneven ombré (which had morphed from blonde to orange) and warmed it up into a chocolate brown with major skills. She then expertly cut long layers into my hair that left me leaving that salon with a bounce in my step– no lie! She’s awesome– not to mention the sweetest. Thanks! Will definitely be back!

I always dread getting my haircut, but the only person I trust to cut my hair is Adelin at Time Hair Salon! Adelin is very bubbly and is very talented when it comes to hair. She is always up to date on the newest trends and is very knowledgeable with what hairstyle suits you. Many friends now go to Time Hair Salon religiously, and i have never heard a complaint!
Downtown San Mateo is the perfect location and its a plus that they’re open late and on weekends! The salon itself is very simple and classy. They don’t over charge you because they don’t add extra unnecessary stuff to the salon.
Go to Time! You won’t regret it!

I am actually a bit hesitant to do this review since I want Eddie the master hair stylist to always have more time for me in midst of his very busy schedule!
Joke aside, this is hands down the best salon in the bay area. The price isn’t cheap at $ 40 for men but you get what you pay for. Eddie knows what he’s doing and he is always updated with the latest trend. You can tell how good he is by his fast hair thinning technique, everything just feels smooth and effortless. I travel to Asia frequently and I can say Eddie easily edges out some of the more seasoned stylists in Taiwan and Tokyo as well.
If you are just a bit picky about your hair and dislike entire hair style to be cut by electric razor, ask for Eddie. Remember to bring cash, CC isn’t welcome here!

I hate to leave this review because the hairdresser was so nice. I asked to have my layers removed and a chin-​length bob, easy peasy. Instead, I got more layers, but two inches higher than before. I reminded the hairdresser that I was going for a bob. So I got a bob in front and a chop job in back. Remember Kate Gosselin with the short spiky hair in back and the bob in front? That’s what I got. Not sure what I said that led to this hot mess.
It’s been over a week with the new haircut and not ONE person has complimented me on my haircut. And I work with really nice people.

Not bad for a hair salon. The place is VERY well decorated inside, with lots of open room and empty space. The customer before me actually drove from out of town to come for haircuts, and have been doing so for 10+ years, so it looks like some number of people like the place a lot.
Overall, the prices a little on the high side ($ 40 for a cut and rinse). The stylists seem to know what they’re doing, but being a no’thrills haircut kind of guy I wasn’t really able to get much out of their expertise. The place is probably better suited to folks who want major hair work done.
The location is pretty good (right in the middle of downtown San Mateo), so if you happen to walk by, it’s worth taking a look inside!

I’m very pleased with the cuts and coloring I’ve received from Eileen. She gives great advice, provides feedback, and I’ve loved my hair every time I’ve left Time Salon. It’s nice to have a hair dresser that is conversational and makes you feel at ease.

Eddie is the real pro. I’ve been looking for my hair stylist for a long time. Now I finally found it.

Adeline is a color expert on asian hair. I have been seeing Adeline over 15 years. I live in Concord now and I always end up going back to her. The drive to San Mateo is worth it. She also cuts great!

Eileen is a great stylist! I’ve never had a bad haircut from her and I love that she is willing to experiment with me when I have no idea what kind of haircut I want. If you want someone fun to talk to, ask for Eileen. She has great personality.

Adelein has been cutting my hair longer than I care to admit. I have followed her to several salons because she is that good. I live in S.F. and have tried many great hair salons here, but none compared to Adeliene who gives me a perfect hair cut every time.

I’ve been going to Adeline for about six years now, starting when she was at another place in San Bruno. I was willing to make the drive up when I worked in San Carlos, and I now make the drive down to San Mateo since I have moved to San Francisco. She always does a great cut and color, she’s so sweet, and I always recommend her when I get compliments on my hair! Adeline’s recommendations are very practical and she suggests color/​cuts/​styles/​products that work best for you that are not super-​high maintenance.
The atmosphere of the salon is relaxing and comfortable, not trendy and pretentious like so many salons are where a «senior stylist» is a 23 year old who gives everyone the same hair cut (for example, Stilo Salon). I can’t speak for the other stylists’ work because I’m completely faithful to Adeline, but Time is well priced with easy parking and the stylists are experienced and down to earth. Great salon!

This place is great — it has replaced Trio in Burlingame as my go-​to hair place.
Less expensive, less crowded and loud, easier parking, and just as good in terms of color and cut!
Adelin is great — haven’t tried the other stylists yet.

I spent some time searching for a perfect stylist around San Mateo and finally found Time salon. I go to Adeline for cuts for a few years now and always very happy with the results. She is very personable and fun to be around, so time just flies when she’s around.
I love that she’s not afraid to state her opinion and tell you if she thinks what you request would look ridiculous. :) I asked her to cut my bangs once and she told me I’ll look like a school girl if I’ll have bangs :)

Met with Eddie after seeing a customers hair he cuts. I called and he took me within a few days. I wasn’t sure about going up to San Mateo since its a bit far but I’m sooo glad I did. The haircut was fast and awesome! I am so happy to find him and I think I’m driving up North every 8 weeks.

Ok this review is just for a blowout with Eddie. I became a big fan of getting my hair blown out in Manhattan and had trouble finding someone who could style my hair well on the West Coast. Eddie did an amazing job and my blow out lasted 4 days, yay!

I’ve gone here for blow drys and they do a wonderful job at a resonable price! They are open when other salons aren’t… even on Mondays!
I really recommend Eileen and Adeline!

Adeline is AMAZING. She’s been cutting my hair for about 8 years now & I would never trust anyone else with my hair. The haircut is a bit pricey for me, but every other place I’ve been to TOTALLY destroyed my hair. Adeline never has to ask how I want my hair to be cut. She knows exactly how I want my hair and knows what looks good on me and what doesn’t.
And she is so cute. I love talking to Adeline while she does my hair because she’s so bubbly, so fun to talk to.

I just retired from the Marine Corps after 20 years. For 20 years my hair has been zero to three inches long and cut by a barber weekly. I haven’t even had to brush my hair in 20 years.
My biggest dilemma after retirement: What the hell am I going to do with my hair?
Upon recommendation from my wife, I went to see Eddie at the Time Salon in San Mateo. Eddie blended my overgrown hair into a respectable shape in just a few minutes. He molded it into a style I can grow out and still look reasonably well groomed… important, since I’m now a Realtor and need to maintain a professional appearance.
Eddie has my highest recommendation. Thank you Eddie!

A hidden gem.
I had a great haircut today, but above all, had excellent consultation for I didnt quite know what I wanted or good for me. Learned that: if you can let go and trust other people with their recommendation and professional experience, you will end up with a better outcome. Eddie was wonderful in that respect… it is true… So often you see customers with a determined idea of what they want, yet probably doesnt suit them.
Eddie was great and will definitely go back. Best of all, its so close to home!
TIME was nicely decorated. more than comparable to SF’s Union Square calibre of hair salons. Love it so much that I made my husband go and book for his own haircut the next day!

I just started going to Time Hair Salon several months ago, since I’m been going to Adelin for over a couple years now. I followed her here from her old salon in Millbrae and I will follow her wherever she goes. I absolutely love the way she cuts my hair and the way it grows out. I also get my foil highlights from her every 4 months or so. I haven’t been disappointed yet, and I don’t think I ever will. Love our girl talk too! She has a memory of an elephant! I always tell her it’s like therapy each time I’m in there. I leave her salon with my hair looking good and I feel good too. She’s all positive vibes.
I really recommend Adelin, her charges are very reasonable. I hesitate to post pricing since I know how it is with stylists (as well as estheticians) and that their long term customs may have slightly different pricing than newer clients. Let’s just say, I would never pay an arm and leg to get my hair done ever (well, unless it’s my wedding day). I mean, I can never tell if someone just had a $ 100 haircut?!
I’m a very reasonably person and I only pay reasonable pricing. Gotta love an awesome haircut without denting my wallet… at all. :)
Not to mention, parking is easy since there’s a parking garage on 2^nd Avenue right behind the salon.
