Clean bathrooms, clean grounds, well maintained. The grass is gone due to the drought, can’t help that. A tour bus stopped just as we were leaving. Sure glad we got there first!

The restrooms were clean and maintenance crew was on the job. Granted we stopped on a Tuesday, so no idea what the weekend was like.

Always make this a stop on our way LA to Monterey & back again. Always clean & stocked. Don’t think we’ve ever not seen a maintenance person around maintaining. Good to see our tax money being used to benefit us travelers. Nice area to walk & stretch.

Most definitely the nicest Rest Area I’ve ever stopped at. The place was immaculate which was made possible by the team of attendants keeping things tidy. Plenty of parking and walking space. Get out, stretch your legs and read about some of the local Military, and Native American history. Get a sense of how vast the El Camino Real really is, and learn about some fascinating geologic features of the region. Get your snack on with a half dozen vending machines and chill out at one of the many picnic tables. Oh yeah, if you’re here because nature called, you and your bowser have designate areas for that too.

Stopped here to check out the truck and stretch on our way to Pismo. It’s covered in green! So beautiful! The area is completely clean and a lot of signs stating what so and so is which is nice too! History at it’s finest

I never would have expected to write a review for a rest stop, and certainly wouldn’t have expected to give it 5 stars, but this place is pretty great. Big clean bathrooms, lots of space for the kiddies to run around and burn off energy, and pleasant surroundings. They also have lots of signs detailing the history of the error, local wildlife etc. Even the dudes picking up garbage were super friendly.

I have to say, nice place to stop for a nap and to use the facilities. The trees are oh so shady, and the facilities are in real good shape after the rebuild a couple years ago. Stop and stretch, I do!

This is a wonderful little rest area just off the 101 with plenty of grass, shady trees, and picnic tables. There were both trash AND recycling receptacles, which was pleasantly surprising. There is a designated pet area complete with a dispenser for baggies so you can clean up after your pets even if you haven’t brought anything with you. This is a very nice touch. There were yellow billed magpies everywhere startling me with their raucous calls. There are plenty of signs and plaques with historical information about Camp Roberts.(Yes, it was a real place). Did you know that oil doesn’t actually come from dinosaurs? Well, now I do thanks to another historical information sign. If you’re wondering, it comes from microscopic remains of diatoms — yes, this whole area was once a shallow sea full of these plankton. Come stretch your legs and learn learn a few more interesting factoids. A variety of vending machines provide drinks and munchies if you need them. The restrooms are large and very clean. The handicapped stall even has its own sink, soap, and hand dryer. All in all this is a pleasant little stop for a restroom trip, an opportunity to stretch your legs, and to learn a little about the flora, fauna, and history of the area.

So I stopped here on my way to the Central Valley and it was a sunny day. One of the better rest areas that you can probably go to. It’s clean and there’s a few places where you can walk around and stretch your legs. Pet friendly too!

Best rest stop bathroom I have ever been to! It’s new. It’s clean. and most importantly for the ladies. the seats are NOT metal. Outside they have an area to walk around where you can read about some of the history of the area and a special space set aside for dogs.

I have never written a review about a rest stop but after stopping at this one I can see why I should. At first I thought it looked like a ghetto building that I might end up getting killed in but after stopping my car and getting down I had second thoughts. This place was super clean and really neat for doggies. I mean they actually really thought about pets and had those baggies for your dogs and also a small little water fountain for them. Also they had a nice area where the doggies can walk on grass around this place. Parking was plenty and they did also have vending machines if you wanted to grab something on the go. I’m glad I got to do something different and to know that there is a pet friendly rest stop was just great. It made me smile and think that the designers actually took the time to think about not just humans but also the pets that you bring along with you on a vacation trip!

When you gotta go, you gotta go — but it’s much nicer to go in a rest stop that is well maintained! This is by far one of the nicer rest areas I’ve been to. Well stocked snack machines, nice picnicking areas, a pet area and a fun historical display. There were even some folks sunning themselves on the lawn! Bathrooms were clean and well maintained — which is, of course, what really matters. A half star off for the weird soap dispenser, and another half star just because I wish rest areas had wi-fi.

These two rest area, northbound and southbound, were just totally rebuilt a couple of years ago. So clean, so modern, so informative for travelers – really the best rest stops that I’ve ever been too anywhere. They’re named after Camp Roberts, California’s most historic military installation, since the rest stops are just a mile or two north of the camp. Be sure and notice the poster in one of the kiosks about the Camp Roberts Historical Museum, which is open to the public on Thursdays and Saturdays(free admission). It’s a huge and amazing museum!

I think it’s pretty funny that this rest area, named after Camp Roberts is in better shape than Camp Roberts itself. Seriously, if Camp Roberts looked this nice who wouldn’t want to go to there? Place is very nice and kept clean and kept. The buildings are even in the design of the old missions that dot the 101 so it’s nice. Also, it’s one of the few rest stops on the 101 for miles.

Stopped here for the first time. It’s the best rest stop I’ve experienced: clean and modern appliances. Nice architecture of buildings.

Stop #10 — Leg stretch & answering Mother Natures call(because she wouldn’t leave a message). Known as the Camp Roberts rest area, this one is approximately 8.5 miles North of San Miguel on the 101 Hwy. I stopped here for a brief respite during my 6 ½ hour journey home. It was completely re-modeled, re-landscaped, then re-opened a year ago. Beautifully landscaped, lots of trees, large grass areas to walk and rest on, etc. This one is nicer than the older rest area 120 miles to the south in Gaviota. Of course there are picnic tables, pay phones, water, restrooms, vending machines and a few different doggy areas. It’s a beautiful place to stop and rest!
