Mail ‘N Ship Express

We have been using mail n ship for over 10 years — consistently. They go beyond the call of duty in all instances and are always friendly. Of course pricing is going to be more than the post office — it’s about convenience. At the Beacon Street post office — you will grow old waiting in their long lines & postage is inconsistent depending on which clerk you get. If you are ok with dedicating an extra ½ to save $ 2.OO — then sure, this place is not for you.
One thing I’ve learned on Unilocal– dive deeper into the negative reviews by reading the helper’s other reviews … This will give you a good idea if they are just chronic & negative Unilocalers who like to complain & bash when given an opportunity — which just lowers Unilocal’s credibility as an honest forum.

I love this place — baffled by the negative reviews. It’s local and convenient for persons on that side of San Pedro. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. Frequently ship from this company.

When to take some packages up to drop off, which I already had labels printed and paid for, and I was told it’s $ 1 to drop off packages now. So I grabbed them and walked right out, to drop the off across the street free of charge. I even used that $ 1 that I would of had to spent for nothing on bubble mailers I could actually use. Definitely won’t be stopping here again

This place is HORRIBLE! After what happened to me and what the San Pedro Post Office Manager told me I was surprised people were in line doing business with these rip-​offs! I went in on the the 7^th of December to mail a package to Croatia. I told the lady that I needed to have it there as fast as possible, she told me if I paid $ 85.00 that it would be there in 9 – 10 business days. It never left California until the 22^nd of December! It is the 10^th of January and my son still never received his Christmas Present. I called the Rude person and they told me that I had to take it up with the post office, so I went down there and the Manager was in tears and shaking because every day she received complaints about these rip-​offs. She told me that my package was sent regular mail and it cost them $ 20.00, $ 30.00 if they sent it express. Because she sent it through just regular mail and not express for $ 85.00 it was hung up in Los Angeles until the 22^nd of December. I plan of filing and claim in Small Claims Court and doing all I can to get my money back.
Sad that a company like this is allowed to exist, I understand making a profit but highway robbery is another.

The worst and most unprofessional company, don’t ever send any important packages or any packages with Ship N Mail. I dropped of a very important package at 1 pm on a Thursday for overnight shipping (UPS). Ship N Mail, dropped the package at UPS at 8 PM, a full 2 hours after the cut-​off time and of course the package did not arrive the next day. Even worse, Ship N Mail had my contact information and did not contact me to let me know that they were going to miss the UPS deadline, they just sent it any way knowing the package would not arrive. Had they told me they were missing the deadline, I could have used a same day delivery service the next day. This company is pathetic beyond belief.

Every time I go to this place I get an attitude! The service sucks, and they will absolutely NOT go outside their rigid little box. Had to mail my tax docs on the 15^th. Got there just at six and she DELIGHTED to tell me «Sorry we close at six.» The place was wide open. She simply didn’t freakin care. Bottom line: STAY AWAY.

I’ve been meaning to write a review on this place. A few months ago, I needed to get some copies and mail an item. I was happy to see there was a shipping place in San Pedro so close to my house. My happiness was short lived. First of all when I walked in there were NO other customers, yet I had to wait while the two women working there had a nice long, personal conversation with the Postal Carrier as if I wasn’t standing at the counter. When I finally WAS helped, the younger, extremely rude chic, just stands there, and looks at me. Her expression basically said, «Yeah?». I would have walked then but I really needed this item mailed and I was exhausted. The older woman ended up helping me as the younger chic scowled in the back.
It turns out the woman helping me knew very little about her job and continually asking Little Miss Ridiculously Rude questions. She would growl the answers from the back of the store or come up front, but not before she rolled her eyes at me. Again, I was so tired I ignored their stupidity and horrible customer service and focused on getting my document mailed. It was interesting how they bent over backwards to be nice to the mail carrier, who WASN’T a customer… Anyway, I ended up overpaying 20 bucks to send a document to Santa Monica, CA overnight.
It was a really bad experience, VERY trailer park… in a bad way…
Go to the Post Office on Western. Great people, professional and surprisingly fast.

Way Overpriced, Dishonest, Way too Slow, Very Poor Customer Service.

My brother visited us recently and purchased some things while here. Instead of carrying the items with him back on the plane he asked me to ship them to him in MN. I went to «Ship’n Mail Express» because they are located close to where I live. I asked for the least expensive method. They told me it was FedEx Ground. For a 25 lb package with dimensions of 16“x16“x13″, the price came up on their computer system at $ 64.25. I was a bit shocked but reluctantly justified it in my mind to the fact that I’m living in CA where everything seems to be more expensive. My brother was really shocked to hear how much it cost since he had to pay me back. He asked his local FedEx how much a package of that weight and size would cost to ship and they told him $ 28.53.
Armed with this information, I went back to «Ship’n Mail Express» to try to understand the large difference in costs. The person working there couldn’t answer my questions and told me they’d have to talk with the owner. I left my contact information and told them I looked forward to hearing from them. Over 5 weeks later I got a rather lengthy letter in the mail from the owner that explained that different stores affiliated with FedEx had different pricing structures, that FedEx Air was expensive and that if I had any questions I should contact her operations manager. I subsequently contacted the operations manager and described the fact that I thought I got charged a FedEx Air price for a FedEx Ground delivery. After discussing this fact with the owner, the operations manager admitted to having a «glitch» in their computer system and that I could come into the store to get a store credit for the difference. I said I wanted a cash refund (since I never want to do business there again) but the person at the store said they’d have to contact the owner again to see if that was possible. About 4 hours later, she called me back to confirm that she could only give me a store credit. I told her this was unsatisfactory and asked her to have the owner call me. Needless to say, that has not yet happened.
It would be a gross understatement so say that this issue was resolved to my satisfaction and I shutter tho think of how many other’s have been overcharged based on their faulty computer system. No one from «Ship’n Mail Express» ever apologized to me for their error or the inconvenience this has caused.
As another measure of how much «Ship’n Mail Express» will overcharge you, take this example. They charged me $ 2.17 to put postage on a 4 ounce letter. If you were to go to the post office, the amount you’d need to pay for postage is $ 1.39. In my opinion, a 56% markup is criminal.

I am a current customer of Ship N Mail (2001) and love the service. I work for the US Postal Service, and I rent a box from Ship N Mail for the convenience. I did not want my letter carrier to leave a notice, so it is convenient for me to just go to ship and mail, who signs my packages. It is a convenient one stop shop for me. I feel bad for the other reviews i read for this place. It is unfortunate that certain customers do not understand a Private Business like this only makes profits by adding a smaill fee to it’s products. Yes, Ship and Mail carries USPS Postal products, but they have to add a charge since we (USPS) do not pay them to sell our products. If they did not charge any fees to USPS, UPS, Fedex, how would they stay in business? The box rentals do not cover the rent of the business.
Now for the credit card… credit card companies charge a transaction fee to even accept a credit card, then either 1.5−2% fee of the balance. There are many places that do that because it won’t be worth for a small company to be hit with all the fees.
The funny thing also, The Postal Service doesn’t call to let you know you have a package. Its either at your mailbox or front door or have a note to pick it up. I go to ship and mail daily and they either leave the package in a parcel box or i have a note to pick it up at the counter.
I remember when Creig was the owner, and he would bend over backwards for customers. With economic times like these, and employees making minimum wage and performing their duties, I believe they go above and beyond. Because I tell you know, I am a USPS employee, but I dread going to the Post Office.

If I had to mail something to Vegas and my only option was to use this place or drive it there myself, well gas up the car then baby cuz they gets no love.
Absolute horrible service by rude people. I had to purchase stamps to meet the $ 5 minimum for a credit card purchase, and unbeknown to me, they charged a surcharge «on everything» as I came to find out later from the staff.
I got home and noticed the overcharge and made it a point to stop by and return the stamps to get a refund. The staff was so rude when I came back and promptly told me that they «were not the post office» and thus there was a surcharge, but when asked where the sign was that explains this, she was unable to produce it.
I can deal with slow service and even getting my order wrong at times, but the buck stops at rude service and thus they will not be getting any more business from me.

We have been using this facility ever since 1993. The family that owned it a few years ago did well. They sold to Craig and he did a very good job. Then Craig unfortunately passed away. We don’t know the reason, but the service it terrible now.
They frequently forget to call you when you have packages waiting, so despite the fact that you may have arranged to have something shipped rush, and you’ve paid for that, you’ll have to personally go into the facility to find out if the package has arrived.
We need them to call when a package is behind the counter, so we can make arrangements to go in during business hours. This is normally done when a package is too large, or the lockers are full. Otherwise, a package can be in a locker that is accessible after hours.
Their shipping/​mailing fees are outrageous compared to the post office. They even charge a surcharge on stamps! And many of the services you could have done at the post office, are not available at Ship N Mail.
We are now paying nearly $ 200 a year for having a box at ShipNMail. If it weren’t for my husband’s business already having this address/​box# set up with his customers and mailing labels etc, we would leave and get another box somewhere else.
We really miss Craig!
