Great service, fast, affordable and polite

Armando is amazing. Such a nice gentleman and does great work. Several other places I have tried in Marin are either not very good or have a long wait to get work done. Armando is quick and always a pleasure to deal with!

My new go to place for alterations. Armando did a great job on a dress alteration. He was friendly, efficient, quick and very reasonable with his price. I highly recommend.

After reading the reviews on Unilocal,I called Armando to arrange a time to bring my son in to get a suit we’d bought for his 8^th Grade graduation adjusted. Armando offered to meet us on a Saturday morning and it only took ~5 minutes to take the measurements. We had the pants hemmed and the length of the arms shortened slightly.
We picked up the suit yesterday and it fits perfectly! Armando is very proud of the quality of his work — and it’s such a pleasure to find someone with his attention to detail. Thank you Armando! We will definitely be back!

If you ever need any sort of alterations for ANYTHING, Armando can handle it.
He’s the only tailor I trusted throughout the 5 years of living in Marin. He’s also reasonably priced — one of the last great tailors out there. I was on a college budget so his quotes for hemming my jeans was what reeled me in. Needless to say, I never stopped going back. He took care of… pretty much my whole closet (I’m short so I needed everything hemmed). So knowledgeable. When he knew that something would look weird or that he wouldn’t be able to do a great job on something, he’d tell you! He’s not going to take your money if he knows an alteration just isn’t going to work out. I always really appreciated that about him.
The reason I’m writing this review now is because I’m back in my hometown of Santa Barbara and trying to get a dress hemmed and wish I could pop back in and see Armando!
So the moral of the story is, go here. You won’t regret it.

Armando is the man! He does quality work at great rates and is super friendly. He is also extremely knowledgable, and does a good job explaining the little details.
I use him to tailor my men’s dress shirts and jackets, and I couldn’t be more pleased!

Took two suits to Armando after reading the reviews on Unilocal.He turned them around quickly, made them fit me well, and did it right!
From the minute I walked in, he was warm and welcoming. It’s very clear that he knows what he’s doing. He made me feel comfortable immediately; we chatted, he explained what he’d do and how.
When I picked the suits up, he remembered my name before I had the tag for the pickup ready. The suits now fit wonderfully. I’m taking any business I have to Armando from here on out.
Can’t say enough for him, he’s great.

Armando is the best.
Perfect stitching and unbelievable knowledge of the way clothes are constructed– he’s even saved me a lot of money by advising me not to do alterations that just won’t work.
He’s also friendly and easy to communicate with– which is not the same experience I’ve had at other alteration places.
I won’t bring my clothes anywhere else!

I found him through Unilocal and had a gut instant to go to him. He had dress pants done in 24 hours and I immediately brought him another pair to work on. Armando is friendly, precise and quick. I will definitively go back! Great job!

If you need alterations done beyond hemming your new jeans (which can be done as well), I would recommend Armando.
I had him help me re-​fit a couple of suits (in the right direction :)), which included remaking the jacket and pants. Suits fit great, price was fair, and he’s a good guy to do business with.

A hidden gem in San Rafael.
I had a pair of pants that needed altering in 24 hours. Armando said no problem and the job was done excellently. He is a REAL tailor in that he has made clothes in the past. Because of that he can look at your body and know exactly how to fit your garment perfectly. He spotted a dip in my left hip I had no idea I had and then proceeded to alter several pairs of pants. Frankly, I’ve never had a pair fit better — a perfect custom fit. He is a perfectionist and treats his clients with respect.
He values his work and will do whatever it takes to make his customers happy even if it means that he can’t fix a problem. For example, I had a just bought a pair of pants that was built for a woman with a larger bottom and he told me honestly that I wouldn’t be happy with the result; that he just couldn’t reshape the pants so that I’d like them. So you see, he’d rather tell the truth than make money.
His pricing is very fair. He is an honest man. I personally saw him tell a lady who didn’t have cash on her that she could take the clothes and drop the money by later. He does not price gouge. He is worth every penny. I brought in a dress I had altered in Santa Monica and had a problem with it. To help me out, he for free quickly ironed it out to try to get it straightened. He said that he could fix the problem but I should take it back to Santa Monica and see if my other tailor could do it at no charge. Most would have wanted to do the job right there but he was honorable.
So I’m going to take all my clothes to him. I’d get to him soon as he has done so well for himself, he’s thinking of retiring. So if you’ve got alterations to get done, get in there!
Finally, as you head towards San Anselmo from San Rafael, get in the right hand lane and you’ll see a giant pair of scissors (hair salon) about a ¼ mile down, turn in to that little shopping area and that’s where you’ll find San Rafael’s finest tailor.
