A professional and economical alternative to the service at the dealer. I needed rear
struts which was going to cost double the price at the dealer than it cost with Collie. The staff is friendly, the service is prompt and professional and I was most impressed.

I just purchased a 1984 MB 300D Turbo Diesel from a Vietnam Veteran I served with in the USAF. The seller’s dad bought the car new and has literally been garaged more than it has been driven over the past 30 years. I found Collie Autoworks through Unilocal and also by word of mouth when chatting with other owners of similar vintage Mercedes in Marin who take their service work to Collie. My experience was excellent and the Collie Team brought the car back to life and addressed all the components needed for the operation and enjoyment of this special car.

Friendly, helpful and such a breath of fresh air compared to the dealer. The owners/​managers are very, honest and informative. Do yourself a favor — drive past the dealership and head straight to these guys.

I have used Collie since I arrived in Marin in 2003. The cars they maintain are driven by my daughters as well as myself. They maintain my diesel Mercedes including a 1974 240d 4-​speed, a 1984 300 turbo diesel, and a 1992 300 turbo diesel. Previously, before it was totaled, they also maintained my cushy 1982 300SD (may it RIP). They have also inspected cars — at a fair price — prior to me making a decision on whether to purchase.
I trust them to do the service correctly and within budget. I’m sure I could find someplace that is «cheaper»; but while the bottom line price on the final invoice is important is not the way I measure the true cost of a repair or routine maintenance. For me, I look at the value and piece of mind that doing business with Collie provides. I feel confident that the job was completed as discussed or estimated using OE or OEM parts and qualified technicians.
My cars are not spring chickens and at times I am not easy on them; however, I know that whatever needs to be done on my vehicles, I will be treated fairly, honestly, and respectfully. One more thing … they know how to communicate!

First rate service on my vintage (1973) Mercedes 280SE. After three prior visits to Pete’s in San Francisco, and lots of money wasted on a problem they could not diagnose, I turned to Darren. He listened carefully when I first called and calmly explained what the potential issues might be. He said it would be a simple matter of working through each potential contributor to the problem my car had until they found the culprit. This is what they did, and for what I consider a very reasonable cost, returned my car to me working properly.
While he had the car, Darren found a few other issues that he recommended taking care of, and now the car drives so beautifully it is like a new vehicle.
There are not a lot of mechanics in this area who want to take on a vintage repair, and to my knowledge, only Collie is really capable of conducting an efficient examination followed by a thorough repair. I won’t be taking my car anywhere else from now on.

Honestly the best auto-​repair experience I have ever had. Great customer service, very reasonable prices, good work and and very quick turnaround. They called to discuss each issue they diagnosed, the associated price, and advised whether it could be put off or might leave me stranded on the side of the road. Very well run and friendly family-​owned business.
I recently moved from the east coast and was worried I would not be able to find a place as good as my old go-​to mercedes repair shop. Surprised I found an even better spot! Try Collie… you will not be disappointed.

I’m a new Mercedes owner having just purchased a 2000 CLK 320 with 163k miles. As soon as I took possession of the car a couple of malfunction messages popped up. I went to Collie’s based on their reviews and I’m glad I did!
The entire engine fan assembly had to be replaced. I instinctively trusted Roger, Denise and Darren and told them to go ahead with the work. It was completed the next day at an affordable price. They even sent a driver to pick me up in Mill Valley when I couldn’t get a ride to their shop on the day my car was finished.
The people at Collies are polite, knowledgeable, and helpful. I’m lucky to have found «my» shop on the first try.

Denise and Darren are truly, truly awesome! I am ashamed I haven’t written a review for Collie’s yet, after having been to them numerous times over the years. Their services are excellent for a more than affordable price. I used to dread taking my car for service, due to expecting a monstrous bill (from other places). Collie Autoworks is a knowledgable team of professionals in high demand. New Fuel Pump on a Mini Cooper with filter since they were going in: diagnostic price was ½ everyone else I called, turn around time was 2 days (only a few hours once they got started on the actual replacement but the shop was busy… they quoted me 3 to 4 days but took half time), briefing on process of job, possible additional problems and pricing and additional cleaning of the fuel injectors was clear and accurate, cleanliness of my car upon return was perfect and the price was better than I expected and was told it could be. I also researched the process and pricing online. I towed my car to them based on the recommendation of friend and glad i did.

The best European car service in Marin. They have serviced my Porsche Cayenne, Bmw X5 and also my Mercedes E320. They are always honest and dont try to up sell you unnecessary parts or services. Rodger, who works the front desk, is always friendly and has a lot of knowledge about European cars in addition to Darren the owner and head mechanic.

I was referred to Collie after having a less than stellar experience at the local Mercedes dealership. Everyone here was on top of getting my car serviced and when I got my bill… where I normally squint my eyes at the dealership I was amazed I could still pay my mortgage this month. ;).

I’ve been getting my ’98 Mercedes E320 wagon serviced at Collie for over 6 years. I found CA as an alternative to the nearby dealer whose prices seemed exorbitant. Denise, Darin and Roger are always friendly, and treat me as a valued customer. Recently, I had an electrical problem with my car, and it looked like it was going to be a big ticket repair. Denise came up with serval options for me, a «plan A, a plan B and a plan C.» Ultimately, she offered a solution that worked for me, and got me back on the road. They provide a very good service with a personal and creative touch. In short, Collie Autoworks rocks!

From the first email and phone contact with Collie to the actual work performed on my 2002 Mercedes Benz C230 Kompressor, I have only fantastic things to say.
I emailed them several weeks back with regard to some routine maintenance for my vehicle. They responded within minutes via email with available dates/​times to bring my car in for service, along with a .pdf file that outlined their pricing structure, and detailed services provided. With this information, I was able to make a proactive decision to take in my vehicle for service.
Roger, at the front desk, was friendly, informative, and further explained the services offered. The work was done in a timely manner, and the prices were spot-​on with what was quoted. After having similar work done at a local dealership where the vehicle was purchased, I can safely say that Collie’s provided me the best value and customer service for the money.
Routine «A» Service completed in just over an hour, and I was on my way. As a non-​savvy auto person, this gal felt comfortable trusting the folks at Collie with her vehicle, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others.

I first reviewed Darren at Collie Autoworks 2 years ago, in that time they’ve enabled my 91 300E to rack up over 300,000 miles with no major repairs. I spent over $ 50,000, including warranty repairs, in «Maintenance» and inflated repair charges at local dealer where I purchased the car. Just to give you an idea of the issues, from the day I took delivery I complained over and over again about rough engine idle. The dealer’s answer was; «they all do that.» Within a couple of services at Collie they recognized faulty front engine mounts and cured not only the idle but dangerous body lean due to an unsecured engine.
Darren, Denise and Roger, the service manager, are as honest merchants as you’ll find anywhere. They bend over backward, sometimes at their great expense, to make sure that their customers and their cars get the best.
If you love your Benz and want the best for it at reasonable prices, you have to take it to Collie. If you hate your Benz, let Collie put the love back in your driving. You’ll be amazed.
