I can’t say enough wonderful things about this body shop. I live in Sac and wrecked my car in SF on the 280… it needed a tow and I was terribly frustrated enough with my insurance company that I was sure the entire process of getting my car fixed wouldn’t be anything less than a headache.
I was told by Toyota Service station off Geary that F. Lofrano & Sons was their certified 3^rd party body shop. I called the main office in San Rafael and they referred me to locations in the city that were closer to my car. All of the other shops were over 2 weeks out in getting to work on the front bumper, but the main office could take in my car right away! All of the shops provided great customer service over the phone (polite, friendly, helpful, and prompt).
I had my car towed via my AAA road side assistance membership (I highly recommend getting one if you don’t) and without charge, towed my car all the way from Noe Valley to San Rafael. Since I already had the estimate from my insurance company in hand, I emailed it to Greg so they can get to work on my car while ensuring payment from the insurance co.
Within one full business week they were able to get my car into their work schedule, communicate with the insurance company-​no sweat, and have my sweet Prius all fixed up for me. They maintained clear communication with me throughout the entire process, and when I was running late to pick up my car after closing hours, they were very understanding and even waited 10 minutes after they closed to help me. Back in my car and over the Enterprise to drop off my rental… whew.
Excellent customer service, excellent work on the car (they had it all nice and shinny for me when I picked it up) and excellent family business. If you get in a wreck in the bay and need a body shop to get back on the road in your own car… bring it to F. Lofrano & Sons Inc.

For the last 15 years I have taken my cars to Lofrano for repairs from serous to minor. They are honest problem solvers and are cost effective. They work well with AAA insurance. Best of all you can have a conversation about the options and costs on your repair. My last visit was to fix a bumper that was partially pulled off the car by a small post in a parking lot. They did a great job, making it look like new! Highest recommendation.

Not only for my company car, but my personal car, the service was fantastic. Greg was upfront with everything and quick to work with the insurances as well as rental vehicles during the time of repair. They communicated as quickly as they could when there was delays on parts and that is appreciated. I felt the service and constant communication and transparency were reasons I would continue to return to them. And yes both vehicles were clean and repaired in good quality. Nice support staff and comparable pricing.

I had to take my car in for some minor damage. there was a slight bend in the fender well and some paint work on the bumper. first off, everyone seems nice. but you are getting them paid so they should be. so i get the work done and look, well they broke the emblem on the bumper they painted, i pointed it out, they fixed it, good, but they charged for a 2^nd emblem (after already charging for a new one?) and its not like they didnt notice it was broken. the fender well is not right, they didnt get it straight…
the paint was horrible, it all cracked and peeled within a 3 months, never again, and i warn you all, stay away!
ps when i got back home, i went over a speedbump and heard some metal clunking. i parked and went back to the speedbump, scored a free ratchet with a 14 mm socket! oh, thats the size for the bolts for my bumper, oh they left a wrench in my bumper, lucky me it didnt get stuck somewhere it could hurt something.

This is the second time I have taken my car to have serious body work/​repairs done, and I cannot imagine better customer service! The staff goes ABOVE AND BEYOND to ensure you are taken care of every step of the way. The work is perfect as well!
Greg Kohs is not only a fantastic representative for the company, always greeted me with a warm smile, was happy to see me, and he handled EVERYTHING! When I picked up my car this morning, I mentioned that there was an additional fee for my rental car, which in fact I expected, and immediately, Greg got on the phone and took care of it, and saved me $ 190.00! Again, outstanding service and exceeding my best expectations.
Lastly, I would get a call updating me on the progress of my car, where it was in the process, whether I had any questions, and an estimated time which the car would be ready for pick up.
I am a customer for life, and I would trust F. Lofrano & Son, Inc. in San Rafael, and especially Greg Kohs and the entire team with any body work I ever need. Bottom line, they make what is typically frustrating and stressful event into an actual pleasant experience. How many companies who deal with your crashed car can say that?!

You guys are the one that screwed everything up, you lied to me and cost me a ton of money. Tried to charge me for storage which was over a 1000. I will not take this down nor will I visit your shop.

I have had my car repaired here twice, both times the work has been perfect and both times the customer service has been above and beyond.
The other day I was going through a drive through coffee place and I accidently dropped my debit card down into my car door after I paid.
I was a bit frantic because I needed that card, all my monthly bills were attached to it. But then I thought of the guys at F. Lofrano and i decided to stop by and see if they would help me.
Greg was so nice about the whole thing. He asked me to pull in the garage and he spent 30 minutes taking off the door and putting it back together himself so I could retrieve my card.
He asked for nothing in return… Those are the kind of people who run this shop.
Good. Honest. Caring folks who are always willing to help.

I think this body shop is outstanding!!! Their work is top quality and they are quick, yet thorough with their repairs. In my case, they coordinated with my insurance company to take care of the payment and the rental car company to make certain my needs were serviced to the highest standard. just dropped my car off and less than 20 mins later– I was our of there. On the pick-​up, same deal… fantastic service. In between– calls with check-​ins to let me know the progress.

Took the wife’s ’03 Acura in to have some fender work done. Lofrano did an excellent job for under the estimate
However, after receiving an estimate of $ 3900 for some fender and body work on my older Ford Ranger pickup, when I took it in to have the body work done per the original estimate the shop manager upped the estimate to as much as $ 5000. The $ 3900 estimate was about $ 200 more than one estimate I received and $ 300 less than another estimate for the same work, all from AAA approved shops. I opted for Lofrano for convenience and previous work they had done on the Acura.
Unfortunately, I will now have to look for another body shop for my 4 cars as I can no longer trust Lofranos to provide reliable estimates.
FYI, I refused to have Lofranos do the body work on my Pickup. In addition, this was most inconvenient as I was planning to have this work done while on my 2 week vacation. I will now have to do without my pickup for 1 – 2 weeks while someone else does the body work after I return from my vacation.

Living in the city and driving all day, accidents happen. It’s worth driving to San Rafael for the peace of mind that their work is impeccable and flawless. They also know a lot about customer service. Josh and Aaron have taken great care of my cars for years. I won’t go anywhere else.

These guys have taken care of me several times and have always done an impeccable job. They try hard to make you happy every time. They work hard, but the crew still somehow seem happy despite their crazy work load.

Highest recommendation for great service and value, with excellent repairs at Lofrano &Sons AutoBody repair. This is s family business, that treats it’s customers like family.
Was first recommended to Lofrano by a neighbor, whose three sons had provided many opportunities for auto body work over the years. In terms of service, quality of work, honesty and value, they said we could do not better.
Our experience has confirmed this. Have also used Lofrano for several cars (most of my interaction has been with Gregg, who is a gem) and have always been highly satisfied. Prompt and convenient appointments for estimates; estimates usually ready on the spot. One time I had to pay out of pocket for the entire repair and wanted to keep the cost down-​that estimate took 24 hours while they called around for the best deals, comparing used to new parts. Greg kept in me in the loop over the course of the repair. Our jobs have all been completed within the estimated time frame (one time a day earlier), including the one where the insurance adjustor’s need to reexamine the unassembled car delayed Lofrano’s work. And the work is superb, with excellent visual results on metallic and regular paint that are maintained over time.
Also, they help you with the rental cars, which can be left at Lofrano’s when you pick up your car.

I could have chosen from any of the numerous body shops that are in the E Francisco Boulevard area of San Rafael, but I went with F. Lofrano & Son because I liked their recommended plan to repair my car.
Their work was flawless, delivered as promised and restored my car to its previous pristine condition.
But most notably, they were more than fair when a question about some additional body damage came up. I felt strongly that it wasn’t there when I dropped off the car. We couldn’t tell from the photos taken at drop off. Rick doubted that it happened on their premises, but in the end, he gave me the benefit of the doubt and bent over backwards to make sure I was a satisfied customer.
He clearly wanted me to be fully satisfied with the entire experience of their company, and he now has a loyal customer who will not hesitate to recommend them to others.

Lofrano offered professional service up until the moment I left my car, and then seemed to stop trying.
They called the day my car was supposed to be ready, and said the repair work was not up to their standards, and they would need another day to correct it. I sincerely appreciate dedication to quality, if that was actually what happened (however, it could also have been that they did not complete the repairs in time). The delay completely threw my weekend plans away, and I had to forfeit the cost of a ski rental for a night.
When the repair was finally, complete, the Lofrano team had 5 – 6 opportunities to make me feel like they were going out of their way to provide good service. All those opportunities were squandered.
The repair was well-​done, however.

HI to the staff @ F. Lofrano Y Son… you are a 3^rd generation family business and it shows. Nothing but care, concern, quality and the very best work I have ever had on my car. It doesn’t get any better than this everyone. They are trustworthy, great craftsmen and give the personal attention that makes them a STANDOUT!
I won’t go anywhere else and nor should you… My BMW. looks even better than the day I bought it!

This is one of those places that once you go you always go back. Unlike most businesses that do a great job and do everything perfect this one you never want to go back to again ;) But if you family is anything like mine you will be back! We have been getting our cars repaired here for many years. This is a San Francisco original, 3 generations, and even though a big professionally run company, it is completely family run. I don’t know about any of those negative reviews… maybe competitors trying the old «if you can’t beat em in business try to burn em on Unilocal!»
If you ever have any problems just ask to talk to one of the owners. I think there are 3 brothers and 2 sons that all work there! Not only do they work there they treat you like you are family and really make you feel like they care!
What more can you ask for in a business?
A lot of businesses can learn from these guys!

This guys are the best. Went there on my day off to repair some air dam damage prior to returning my bmw lease. Aaron and the guys hooked it up for a fair price and the detailing job they did was awesome. Almost didnt return my car to BMW because it looked so nice. Would use in the future for sure.

I’ll keep it simple.
Work was PERFECT, people were nice and things happened as stated, on time etc. They handled ALL the insurance stuff, didn’t cost me a cent. A flawless experience!

I highly recommend the 26 Harbor St location of F. Lofrano & Son. Their staff, particularly the manager, Aaron, and Michael Hauser, are professional, helpful and efficient and really went above and beyond to help us with our car.
Two days before Christmas, someone backed into my daughter’s parked car. They were nice enough to leave their contact information, and their insurance company took care of the damage they had caused. F. Lofrano & Son was on their list of preferred collision centers.
Having never heard of them, we planned to get an estimate, then have the work done elsewhere. As we were leaving, my daughter complained she could barely open the driver’s door because of the damage. Aaron overheard, rushed over, and said he could fix that before we left. Within 5 minutes, he had pulled the fender out so that the door could be opened — and sealed the deal. He did not know we planned to go elsewhere, he was just being helpful and efficient.
Michael did a great job of explaining what the insurance company would (and would not) cover, and stayed in contact with us about when the car would be ready. And, when it turned out we needed to pick up the car in the morning, rather than the afternoon, Aaron re-​arranged the schedule for the day at the last minute so we could do so.
Equally important, their repair work was beautiful — the car looks better then before we took it in.
