The shwarmas were well worth the price and delicious! They are a pretty good size and are worth it. The falafels are fresh, has that good crust on the outside but flavorful and moist on the inside.

This review is for lunch only. Walked in on a weekend for a quick lunch and settled on the chicken shawarma. The whole wrap was bland — under seasoned chicken, couldn’t taste the hot sauce, hummus, or baba ganoush(paid extra) at all. Maybe the kebab would have been a better choice or it was an off day. I love Mediterranean food, esp. in SF and the Peninsula. For $ 13(lunch wrap only, no sides/drink), I did expect more. (Did not take off any stars for the creepy customer who winked at me as he walked by my table with his female dining companion.)

Delicious and healthy food! Although the prices here went up, I always feel good and full when I leave this place. My husband and I usually get the chicken or beef entrée plate or the shwarmas and it is so good! Our daughter loves their rice. The babaganoush is also fantastic! I’ve tried some from other places and they were very bland, but not this one! This is good! Their dolmas are also my favorite. I knocked off a star because of the price and I think service could be a little better. It can be slow at times. It’s different from other foods you can find on 4th st., so for us, it’s a nice change up. I’d say give it a try :)

A cute clean hole in the wall place. The service was very nice. Had the chicken shwarma with the garlic yogurt. The chicken was moist, the bread cooked to a golden brown, the sauce flavorful and the hot sauce killer. A great gem, definately will be back!

Walked in and placed the order with a very nice cashier. After getting the final total, I realized that the price of the lamb schwarma was $ 10.95 instead of the $ 6.99 that’s on Unilocal or other websites. We sat down and then we waited. Then we waited. Then we waited some more. And then we waited a bit more after that. Only two other people in the place. After 45 min we received our order. Food was Ok but way overpriced. I had the schwarma which was warm and tasty while my GF had the chicken plate that came with rice and a cucumber salad. She liked the food but acknowledged that the price was too much. I love falafels so pretty bummed about the experience. Overall | Too Pricy for a Falafel Place

I mean, it’s not amazing, but you can’t expect that for $ 10 and more food than you can eat. I had the lamb gyros — they were fantastic! The owner warmed everything up, even the baklava that we had and the pita for the gyros. Only complaint is that the baklava was a bit too drowning in the syrup(well, sugar water). Otherwise, its pretty huge portions for what you get and the food is very tasty.

New and modern décor have improved the atmosphere of the restaurant. Nice wood floors, pictures of the food on the many TV’s give you a better idea of what you’re ordering. The restaurant now plays wonderful Middle Eastern music, giving the restaurant a festive and authentic feel. And of course the food is still delicious and authentic. I gave the Falafel Hut 5 stars 8 years ago and it still continues to impress me all these years later.

If you, like many including myself, never found falafel something to get excited about, try it here. A friend and I came in late one evening to grab a gyro and Mohammed(the owner, cook, cashier and waiter for us) offered us a free unsolicited sample of his falafel. Never thought I could be blown away by some middle eastern hushpuppy but man, did I and so did my friend. We’re now regulars. Mohammed knows how to conquer new customers and all it takes is a taste of his beautifully spiced, slightly piquant falafel and you’ll be hooked. Been back and tried his combination plate and the Shawarma with his mint yogurt sauce is also a must. In fact all his sauces and side dishes are brilliant. Super guy, ultra friendly, generous, accommodating service(like visiting a friends house for dinner). Good selection of beers including some middle eastern.

Fresh pita is awesome. Falafel so crunchy. Top notch. Love the outdoor seating as well. Absolutely worth a visit.

Oh man. Those fresh, hot falafel, combined with the smoky babaganoush. I live in sf and every time I am in san rafael this is where I go for lunch. Do yourself a favor and support your local falafel hut!

I have ordered here so many times. They just canceled my order because they are«too busy» tonight. Don’t bother with this place, at least 50% of my orders are wrong. Sometimes they won’t even pick up the phone to take an order. You can do better for your family.

I work at Tj Maxx in San Rafael and two of my co worker told me about this place in downtown San Rafael, we went there and ordered combo plate and 2 shawerma plates and to be honest it was one of the best meals we ever had as Mediterranean food, the place was clean and service is good. Highly recommended

Seriously good falafel. The falafel deluxe sandwich is pretty killer. It comes with pieces of fried potato and eggplant and pickle along with the falafel and tahini. The hot sauce is excellent. All together it’s just extremely tasty. I only wish that it came with a bit of salad or fries or something, which I am used to at other places, that is my only complaint. It’s just the sandwich and all of the sides you can add are separate salads and so they are somewhat pricey as an add on. So I end up just getting the falafel sandwich and no sides. The guy who manages the place is one of the nicest guys. It’s always a pleasure doing business with him.

I’ve eaten middle eastern food all over the country, and lived near large middle eastern populations — I have no idea how this place is 4 stars. Maybe this just has the same Unilocal over-saturation and group think from a bunch of people who haven’t experienced anything else. About double the price I’d expect to pay for schwarma sandwiches, and the food is just bad. The bread is wrong, the chicken and lamb are wrong, the garlic sauce is wrong, the pickled veggies are missing or wrong. I think I can safely say this is in the bottom 2 of the ~35 middle eastern restaurants I’ve been to.

We were in the area and chose this place because of the reviews. Wanted something fresh and authentic and that’s exactly what we got. We ordered lamb gyros and highly recommend! Extremely tasty, lamb was cooked just right and served hot. The only bad thing was the self served rose water, I spotted a small bug. But I won’t dock off stars off this review because this was a great hole in the wall.

Just had afterwok late lunch at this place. If I could I would give this place 6 stars just for the kind, pleasant service & positive vibes. The food was spectacular. I’m not from this area but next time when I am I definitely coming back to eat there.

I really like it here. It has that local feeling where people come to hang out and enjoy some good ethnic food. Plus, they have all sorts of goodies scattered throughout their little market. The new lady working there was very pleasant! Lone thing I didn’t like was coming here on a day they’re supposed to close at 9:30 and them turning most of the lights off around 8:00 while I still had half my dinner to eat because they were deciding to close early. I think the owner did it and I really thought it was rude. And their pricing on what I ordered seemed a bit too much. Might come back. Might not.

The place is not fancy. The people are friendly and straightforward. I always order the same thing: Falafel Sandwish & Mediterranean plate. My favorite! Food is delicious overall. Great hot sauce & Free Rose Water for all

This place is incredible! I’ve tried most of the menu and have never been let down. The service is great. The food is consistent. It’s great to have a Mediterranean spot in Marin that’s just as good as any in SF or the east bay. Note: DONOT mistake this place for the crappy deli a few doors up.(The one who deceptively displays s huge sign advertising falafels for 4 bucks) …unless you want a falafel that tastes like it’s worth 4 bucks.

This place slays. The tabbouleh salad is clearly made fresh daily. Or, I’ve just been lucky very time I try it. The shawarma plate is delicious and so are their sandos. We come here whenever we crave some Halal goodness. Oh, I love their hummus.
