I almost fell over when the lovely gentleman at Gold Hill told me what my old jewelry was worth, I had to ask him again! I plan to go there in the future and would and have recommended them.

Don’t let the charming elder gentleman routine fool you. They offered us 1⁄3 less for some gold than a competitor did on the same day. And I had thought I had met some straight shooters in an industry littered with shade. I wonder what they skinned me for last time I sold them gold. UGH

I have completed two transactions with Clark at Gold Hill. He is fair and honest, which is uncommon in this business from my experience.

I’ve sold a number of gold and platinum coins here. He always pays fare market value which is whatever the index is that day. My transactions with him have been quick and easy. He always has some treats for my doggy which is a plus! I wouldn’t go anywhere else to sell my coins…

I am very impressed with this business. I went down the street first and got an estimate on what I could sell my gold and silver coins for. Then I came to Gold Hill and was offered twice my original estimate. Needless to say I am coming back when I have more gold and silver and coins to sell.

Went into this place twice over the last year to buy low denominational gold eagle coins as gifts. Clark seems disinterested and grumpy. The previous negative reviews seem to be right on. Today I called because I want to buy some larger ¼ oz eagles and asked his price on the phone fully intending to go down and buy a few. Well, he was very rude and belligerent on the phone and hung up saying«who cares, it is only a quarter ounce of gold». He basically was shouting at me before he hung up. Skip this place. Who needs to deal with a grump who does not seem to care about doing business any more. Also, his sell prices are too high and his buy prices are too low compared to other places. He does not come across as an honest dealer at all! He refused to tell me what his buy and sell policies are when asked in a nice fashion. Life is too short. This guy should retire or otherwise get a new life. He lost me as a potential repeat customer as I buy bullion monthly. If I could give this place negative stars I would!

San Rafael, CA Send Message For your review of: Gold Hill Coin Investments I think I just LOL’d my pants! Between clark s. and Mark B. clark s. Block User 3 hours ago my guess is NOTRARE coins in that pile been doing this over 45 years I can see a deal quickly yous was a free appraisal only ANDYOUKNOWIT get a life Mark B. 3 hours ago your very right but you made a guess. if you would have looked with a bit more care you would have seen the 2 coins I threw in the pile that were very rare. they were even in cardboard sleve witha window. you just tossed it aside and said that’s a another $ 20 coin. I took those same coins to a real coin dealer who took a bit more time and found the valuable rare coins and immediatly made an offer and i sold them to him for way over the $ 20 you guessed it was. I t is just my opinion and that of some other reviewer’s that you are just a dishonest and grumpy man that try’s to take advantage of people who might not know what they have. it was not a free appraisal it was just as you said yuor guess. you were to pre occupied doing nothing but talking on the phone, it’s no wonder your shop looks like it does. clark s. Block User 2 hours ago way over? so 50 bucks for the lot? what a fucking joke No Clark the joke is on you, 50 buck for the lot i walked in to your place with over 75 silver dollars. the other dealer paid me $ 175 for one coin and $ 125 for the other and i am bringing him back all the rest of the valuable ones I did not show you. I wanted to see how honest you were are you acted like a crook. i have a lot of valuable coins and a lot of silver to sell but not to a dishonest unprofessional person like you. REALLYIT“S YOURLOSS!!! not to mention all the coins and unused perfect condition tickets from the 1893 worlds fair .

Pros– This is the most honest coin dealer I’ve ever been to. I am very satisfied with the services provided. Cons– Staying open a little later would be nice.

I just called this business to see whether I would want to take some gold and silver to them to sell. First the man on the phone said come in and he would tell me what he would give me for them. They are very standard pieces to sell and give quotes for. He acted like I was ridiculous to ask for a quote on the phone. He then gave me quotes and promptly hung up on me(!). Made my decision easy… going elsewhere to sell my loot!

I will no longer go to this coin shop. I took a very ornate spoon in there and had it tested for silver because the stamp could not be found. He asked if I really cared about the spoon. I was thinking he was going to make me a lowball offer. Instead he broke the spoon. I did not even have a chance to sell it. When I asked him(different day) to make good on the spoon because he broke it and I paid a lot of money for this spoon. He was very rude and declined. I asked him If this is how he wants to run his business? Breaking people’s property without asking and then not paying for it? He replied«Yes». I’ve learned my lesson and I’ll never go back

I’ve known Mr. Clark Smith for about 4 years and have done business with him purchasing gold coin and silver. His rates are the same as others(competative) and he treats his customers in a kind, effecient to the point manner. He always has a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes. He has done business for over 30 years and really enjoys and knows his trade!

Beware of selling your gold to many other jewelers who will only pay an unfair percentage of the market price. Some of these folks are truly scandalous in their low-ball offers now when gold is at its historic peak. Clark’s a refiner, which means he assays your gold and after buying it melts it down for resale, so this is where you’re most likely to get a good deal. He also patiently explains how he figures the value of your gold and offers payment on the spot. I had shopped around and his payment was comparable to only two others who offered a fair price, one of them in another county.
