Marin Color Service

The color consultants here are very helpful. I especially appreciate Belinda’s aesthetic and knowledge. They’ve saved me money by steering me in the right direction for several home projects and seem enthusiastic and positive about even the smallest jobs.

I’ve been to Marin Color Service a few times to select color samples, bring them home, tack them on the wall and leave them there until we have finally gotten fired up to complete the project.
I went yesterday to pickup the paint for our bathroom painting project. I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing when it comes to painting, other than the colors I like. So walking in and being greeted by three separate employees asking how they could help me was a huge relief!
I brought my color, they set me up with primer and a special kitchen/​bath finish, so now we begin!
They are a bit more pricey, but have a huge selection. Parking can be tedious. The store is very well-​organized so you don’t feel like you’re sifting through the aftermath of a landmine explosion when looking for something like some businesses. But here’s what I’d love to see… There is a treasure trove of color samples in the side of the store with many people like me wandering aimlessly around not even realizing we need help picking the right colors. Having someone specifically stationed there asking if we can be helped would be a huge money maker for them and save us clueless color voyagers a huge amount of time.

These guys couldn’t match socks never mind colors. Had them match a conversion varnish for me, couldn’t be further from the requested color.

Super helpful. These guys know what they are talking about and have walked me through several home improvement projects.
Most recently I had a tough project that went south based on a recommendation they made. Although it was really my screw up, they took responsibility for it and paid for the materials to make it right.
Beyond that it’s great to have the color specialist in the back to help you coordinate colors.

Now the paint’s on the wall, we appreciate the color consultant’s recommendations even more — looks awesome!

after having an awful experience with trying to get Cabot Deck Resurfacer stain from Rafael Lumber ( Unilocaled I will never use them again) i got outstanding service from Rafael at Marin Color Service. He went above and beyond to get me the stain products I needed. Cabot Deck Resurfacer is a new product and instead of brushing me off like Rafael Lumber did, he called the Cabot company and Got the product and color formulas straight from them so I could go home with the product I wanted.

What a wonderful place! It was my first time painting my fireplace and came in to choose color. Not only was the staff so knowledgeable but they also took time to understand my vision and assist me with color choices. They also helped me pick out all the tools I would need — went over different brush types, what kind of finish I wanted, And helped this beginner out with what kind of strokes I should do when painting this particular area. They didn’t have quite what I was looking for, but they actually pointed me to a competitor who does carry it, instead of trying to get the sale.

We’ve painted the outside and most of the inside of our home using paint from Marin Color. We’ve had nothing but good experience with them. And they carry Benjamin-​Moore paint, which apparently is the best.

This is the greatest free resource for your painting dilemmas and questions. They have a person in each store that helps you zero in and decide on the right color, finish and techniques. The people at the counter are equally as helpful. It may cost more than home depot but with the small samples, expertise and no waiting time its worth the cost!

Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. The color specialist is especially good. Good selection of eco-​friendly paints, too. The only knock would be that their prices aren’t the best for the non-​contractor. I still continue to go back, though.
