Nitro cold brew was soo good. It was smooth with an almost beer like mouth feel. Wonderful customer service. Somebody was there to explain the different types of beans and I was given samples to try for the different types of coffee. Will definitely be back!

This place deserves more recognition! It’s a small local shop hidden in between restaurants and warehouses. You will not be disappointed. Their iced latte and apple cinnamon scone hit the spot & all for just $ 9! The latte was smooth and delicious. The scone was huge! It was the perfect balance of sweetness, yet you could still taste the tartness from the apple. Unlike those super sweet and sugary pastries from the big name coffee companies. You won’t feel guilty eating Red Whale’s treats.
I’m glad I found this place. It will definitely be my regular coffee stop before heading to school.

I was greeted by 3 nice young adults, they were super friendly and were able to answer all my questions. It was my first time having their coffee and I must say it was very strong, it tasted kinda like beer. I wasn’t a big fan of that but thought a little cream and sugar would change the flavor a bit, it still tasted a lot like beer but I still finished my cup. I ended up having anxiety at work due to how strong the coffee was. I’m happy I was able to finally try this place since it’s so close to work but I won’t be coming back.

Making a drive up to Santa Rosa and wanted some coffee. Found this place on Unilocal and it was easy on/​off from freeway. Got so much more than expected. Ryan took our order, then took us on a tour. Explained the process of roasting and their beans. We were treated to the cold brew and nitrogen cold brew coffee that was almost similar to beer. The cappuccino was the best I have ever had. This place will be a regular stop. What a great way to start the day. If you really love coffee and are tired of cappuccinos that are made like lattes, get your butt to Red Whale!!!

What a great find! I’ve been so tired of the usual chains in the area, they are so crowded and full of loud talkers, so this place is such a breath of fresh air! It feels laid back and LOCAL, which is really missing in the Terra Linda area. And the coffee and baristas are unpretentious. Coffee choices are yummy. I’m little worried about the parking situation, but if the «pull forward» option keeps working, it’ll be all good. I’ll be back for sure!

This coffee shop is a hidden gem! The coffee is superb. The service is excellent. The baristas are very knowledgeable and friendly. Cute little place with a cool atmosphere. Wish they had more seating though. Looking forward to another one of these opening up.

Seriously this is probably the best experience I have ever had at a coffee place. The baristas are awesomely trained and knowledgable – even passionate. Ryan spent a lot of time educating us about coffee and the quality of their business. They also have a big selection of cold brewing coffees.
This is a must stop for serious coffee people. Kudos to the entire business for their corporate citizenship.

Excellent coffee, wide selection. Thank you a million times to Mr. Cold-​brew-​is-​my-​baby! (Didn’t catch your real name! And sorry for the RBF! I was obvs under caffeinated.). The samples of nitro cold brew were insane! Definitely will remember this place on our next mini road trip.

What a fabulous place. Super knowledgeable staff that take their coffee both seriously and joyfully. Every time I come in they welcome me in and if I ask they tell me all about my options.
Hot or cold brew, nitrogenated or not, pour over or espresso, roasted beans on site and all the coffee or Red Whale gear you could need or want.
In the back there is a super comfy lounge area, up front picturesque bench window seating, and outside bench tables.
Also the owner is a chef in his alter-​ego and the baked goods, savory and sweet scones, are to die for.
If you ever wanted to grow a coffee plant you can buy one here too.

This place just got even better: they got rid of the one table they had in the barista area and replaced it with benches. This allows for a lot more seating. I also learned they have a backroom with some couches and a couple fun things to do such as pinball. Definitely a great place to hang out. Also, the staff is still awesome and fun to talk to, including Sean (the owner), who takes his product very seriously. Sean definitely has an excellent culinary knowledge that clearly shows through the coffee and scones they sell here.

Ok so I felt truly inspired to write a positive review for the team over at Red Whale Coffee. So much good stuff going on over there.
First the coffee is roasted in house and is truly delicious. I enjoyed both their espresso and their pour overs. Stoked to see they have a 10oz serving (though I might be the only one to care about that lol). The baristas there are really well trained in the craft of making great coffee but also customer service. They were really attentive to my needs and also kept the bar really clean.
And if you have time you should check out all of their products. It is a great collection of everything a coffee nerd would enjoy. Great work!

Awesome gem and true coffee aficionado shop with a left coast vibe! Standing slow clap deserved this is coming from a well traveled scavenger of quality coffee community houses. A place you know your welcome and this is one of them! Like I said standing slow clap!

I think of coffee places where you can work a bit while sipping your codfee. What is with these businesses that have no public restrooms? We left and probably won’t be back.

Awesome cute, tiny coffee shop and roaster. Friendly barista. They do individual drips and have some really neat looking contraptions that remind me of a science lab. The space is small –only 2 tiny tables but doesn’t seem to be an issue since most of their clients probably take the coffee back to work.
Loved their iced coffee and the sweet and savory corn scone (think cornbread but even better).

Love this place! I discovered Red Whale when my office moved to Mitchell Blvd in San Rafael. My taste for coffee will never be the same! Starbucks now tastes like cheap gas station coffee… with a mountain of sweetner. Not only do they do a superior job of educating people about coffee, they walk the talk (buying standards, roasting process, brewing etc.). They are extremely knowledgable and ethical in their approach to coffee… and its damn tasty too! I love their cold brew and flat white, and was recently introduced to a new beverage called the kamikaze. If you want the energy of a shooting star with the majesty of a unicorn, this is your drink! Plus, the staff is personable, energetic and helpful, always. Worth the money 100%
