I would give it no stars if that were possible! No respect for customers elsewhere. Yesterday evening, after having waited in line for what seemed forever, while the cashier leisurely served the customer before me, I asked the lady to see if anyone could serve me. No response, no acknowledgement. Just pure ignored. When a guy who was helping her offered to help me, she gave him a dirty look and reprimanded him to continue to help her. I am pretty disgusted. I would rather take my business elsewhere.

This is a decent sized store with good number of items but not the ones that I would be looking for. It is completely disorganized aisles are always cluttered with stuff and every time I go there they seem to be stocking a lot of stuff but still nothing seems to be available… They are not attentive to the customers at all(I’m not talking about greeting and stuff like that), the aisles are really narrow and there’s clutter lying in the floor sometimes abandoned carts and they just pass it by w/o clearing like its not their business. The line will get long still there’s only one check out counter being used(When you have 2 counters you should use them). They are really slow… I usually go this store because I’m too tired to drive and If I’m not I’ll go to stores in Dublin(I like Namaste Plaza or New India Bazaar or Trinethra)…

This place has a lot of interesting items and they will even sell fireworks, but everything I want is always expired. Every time I go there the things I pick up are expired, and they have horrible refrigerators that are warm. They don’t keep this store restocked and they are very greedy.

This is an extremely bad establishment with zero respect for customers. After shopping i was ready to pay. There was a lady at the counter who swiped my card two times and said the card didn’t go through and it was probably because i didn’t have money. I was shocked as i know that has never happened. I still stepped aside(she rudely told me to move out of the way for other customers) and made the call to my card company. Talked to the representative who said all was perfect with my card, and the transaction was showing as approved from our side, but wasn’t approved from the stores company. I asked the person behind the counter to speak to my representative and she flat out refused. Another man who was stocking shelves agreed to talk and even though he heard the fact that something was wrong from their end, refused to help in any way. i asked to speak to their manager. The son of the owner who is a tall guy, came out and said he cannot do anything. by then I had lost my patience and asked sternly why they cannot communicate with their transaction people on the phone like i had spent all this time communicating with mine. He started insulting me saying i was screaming and they get all sorts of credit cards, but this never happens, so its my fault. I couldn’t believe the level of bad service provided by this store. I walked out and went to another store and bought stuff using the same credit card… no problem. Suffice to say i am staying clear of this horrible store and its awful representatives.

Should earn zero star. The owner does not respect his customers, unfriendly to or simply ignore you coming in the store or when you need some info. Bad thing is their bread or bakery on sale is expired and stale. Will not go back.

The selection of frozen and packaged Indian items is quite good. I live right in San Ramon so it’s much easier to go to Patel’s than further afield. Often they have fresh peas when no one else does. Best of all everyone is nice and helpful and that’s important to me because I’m not Indian but both my husband and I cook Indian food and are often seeking advice.

Overall good experience. I’ll be coming here more often. Pros: — Woman that helped me was very nice. We chatted casually and she was more friendly than most employees have been at other Indian grocery stores. — Good selection of cheap bulk spices. — Got what I came for plus some frozen parathas that were good. — Open much later than I expected. Cons: — Pretty small. — Didn’t have some of the spices/herbs I needed. — A bit dirty, some of the shelves have spilled grain/spices/sauces on them.

Beautiful & clean store, well organized and excellent customer service. I recommend all my friends and family members living in nearby cities to visit this store.

On the smallish side and with less inventory than some other Indian grocery stores. But it is still a decent bet to find your favorite Indian pantry staples. Plus a whole aisle of Indian snacks. Mmm. Mmm.

If I could give them a negative rating, I would. The owner and the employees have no respect for their customers. After being regulars for over a year now they wouldn’t accept returns without a receipt even for store credit as per their policy. They accused us saying that the items were not from their store and threatened to call the police. This is the treatment you get after spending your hard earned money for more than a year at this store. Needless to say, we’ll be taking our business elsewhere.

This store doesn’t deserve to be on Unilocal even for review. Don’t waste your money and time. I had 3 episodes of over charging followed by artificial apology from owner. The business practices are not ethical and their mission is to rip off the customer. So please check your receipt if you end up being at Patel’s. I hate to say people want to make free money by cheating customers but this store has been successful and we should stop them. We had our last trip… No more Patel’s.

The supplies are quite ok. The owner has zero respect for any of his customers. The old man was mouthing off the choicest Hindi curse words totally disregarding customers like me(some with children) in the store. Customer service is non existent. We stopped going there after seeing emails complaining about the owner cheating customers by charging higher prices.

The only grocery store I have seen which is so clean and organized. They have variety of items covering all our needs. Staff is very friendly in finding us the product we are looking for and also help with suggesting best products. Overall highly recommended to visit this store for your grocery.

Store is clean other than that everything is wrong. Prices are higher than New India Bazar, Namaste Plaza in Dublin. Make sure to check your receipts as they always seem to double charge. Sometimes, they charge different prices to different people.

I have been there few times and I admit the groceries are in good quality. However, the customer service was definitely no good! It’s may be me who had a bad experience but still that doesn’t look professional behavior. The staff billed higher price for a product around shop closing time, and, I realized after coming out. So, I went back in with the receipt to show them, hey you billed for higher price and the immediate answer by the«owner» was«No», we billed the right price for right product. Then I had to take him to product, bla bla bla. and finally he accepted and said his staffs, just give the balance. While, his staff’s were getting things done and he just came to the counter gave the balance(it’s like throwing the money) and the response is like just get out from here.(No sorry or no apologizes). I got the balance and came out, but you know what, I missed the product inside and I didn’t realize until now(which is two days later). I will be going to the shop this morning. Hope I get my grocery item(well I don’t have receipt any more). So, watch for the price while billing the item, it may be few dollars but still it’s your hard yearned money.

Stay Away — Cheaters … During my grocery shopping at Patel Brothers, I noticed a charge for an item which was never purchased and was a result of their creative billing :) When I brought it to cashier(Mrunal’s) attention, rather than apologizing he shrugs off and shows attitude. I also spoke about activities like wrong billing, over charging and selling expired groceries creates bad customer experience, The response I hear is there are too many customers and he doesn’t mind losing some :) I am surprised to see such attitude and wonder how such people are still in business. My 2 cents to you folks, if you shop there please check your receipt before leaving the store.

If you are looking for«authentic» Indian cuisine and groceries look no further! The staff is very helpfull and polite. I went in looking for some imported Basmati rice and nan(Indian bread) to make a homemade Indian dinner. I found great basmati rice(cheaper than Safeway) and much higher quality. Having been to India myself, their products are top caliber and fairly priced. I suggest the frozen nan and the India Gate brand basmati rice. If you ask, they have fully prepared food for sale in the back room, so you can pick up pre-made pakoras and such which is a treat. Excellent store for Indian items.

Only indian store for san ramon, danville people. Very clean store. Prices are little higher than grocery stores in dublin. They sell & charge $ 2 for«pirated» bollywood DVDs Recently I heard that display price is different than billed price. Also some people complained about charging credit card fees. I have not noticed but will keep checking from next time. so far working for me as it is close to neighborhood.

Finally, a little market in this shopping center worth going to. I don’t know if these people bought out the previous, poorly run, market or if they are completely new. What I can tell you is that this Indian market is clean and well organized. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they have a nice selection of staples and specialty items. The market is primarily an Indian market with the various food stuffs, spices, chutneys, dairy products, and other items that you expect. They even have a small selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. I’ve been here several times and am trying some of the things that they offer. And the prices seem pretty reasonable to me. It is a welcome addition to the area.
