When its late on a Saturday afternoon and your companion of the last 18 years has breathed her last, your options are very limited. None of the vets who do in-home euthanasia will collect the body of a companion animal they didn’t themselves euthanize. While the animal hospital at Bishop Ranch will not collect the body, they will accept a body for cremation. A «mass» cremation will cost $ 78 and they’ll scatter the ashes with other pets or, for $ 280, they’ll privately cremate your companion and return the ashes to you in a cedar casket with the animal’s name on the front. Expensive but then this service is sort of universally expensive around the Bay Area and they are totally competitive. I think everyone charges a very similar rate. They’re very kind and they were great to deal with at a terrible time.
